SofieEpic no it's not hard, looking buff is hard looking normal/healthy is easy. you just have to watch what you eat, you don't even have to go to the gym or workout to lose fat if you're obese. all you have to do is cut your calorie intake, just chart down what you intake daily and identify high sugar/saturated fat products and cut it in half, if your diet only consist of sugar and fat replace a portion of it with vegetables and simple carbs like rice or plain bread to kill your hunger. the goal is to gradually eat less until you reach a limit (roughly around 30%-40% body fat) and that's when you really need to work hard with exercise since your body won't burn up the fat unless you're are starving yourself or working out.
@Dave-ng9mn

Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen I know everyone says to exercise and shit, but you should honestly try running. I used to be 310 lb and I dropped down to 200 by running. I started small running 2-5 minutes a day and worked my way up. It’s hard but it’s totally worth it. If you regret your decisions so much I hope this can help you, but don’t do it because others want you to look a certain way, do it because you want to.

Mya Williams if u keep judging and objectifying women, ur contributing into this endless obsession girls fall into to regulate their bodies. Ignoring our looks and focusing on other things, say: career/education/family/relationships and be a Person. These comments, (don’t be obese don’t be anorexic) just keeps us as women focused on our looks ALL day All week All year, from diet to lose weight to diet to gain weight. It’s not healthy to obsess over our looks. Same goes for men. If u spend an hour everyday for months to have a 6 pack, u could have used that time to read a book or make a project. Lets not regulate our own bodies, or other people’s bodies. Lets not voice our opinions and contribute to girls (or guys) obsession with and fear of weight.
@kaaba5540
@kaaba5540 5 жыл бұрын
sara h please tell me you’re joking. No one in their right mind should ever defend the continuing support for obesity and/or anorexia. What you’re essentially saying is, “people who are too skinny or too fat shouldn’t have to change for you! Let them look the way they want to look! >:(“ Anorexic or obese people are unhealthy. They are destroying their bodies with either their lack of or too much food consumed. They are *literally* killing themselves, and people are not only against it because it does not look nice, but because it is killing these people! Food related disorders can be fixed. If you’re obese, you can try exercising and eating healthier. If you’re anorexic, you can try feeding yourself a bit more than you usually do and also try exercising to gain muscle. people are not against these disorders because they look bad. They are against it because they want to help these people who are suffering. Get your head out of your ass and do some research before you go off on someone trying to defend a genuinely good point.

@@sarleo1dv women are the ones who care about this stuff way too much. Men also like to look good but women exagerate so much that annoys. Dont get no more women and just jack off? I dont think so right? The problem in here is just one: women got to stop competing with each other for who got the more curves. Thicker models are fine. But promoting obesity is not okay. If anything, I think Cosmo is attempting to say "we're not all super skinny, not all super in shape. So, you know, it's ok if you don't look like a super model." If there is any risk in this kind of cover, though, I would think it's in the normalization of what is clearly an unhealthy and dangerous lifestyle. I've been self conscience about being curvy, (big boobs and big hips) my whole life. I'm not at all like that lady on the magazine and also not like the ladies on the other end of the spectrum either. I just thought I was "fat" by the standards of the day. Then I met a girl where I worked , she was at least a foot taller than me and super skinny. And very sweet and kind. I never could have guessed that she had issues with her body as well. She looked like a model. She came into work crying one day because her boyfriend said she had a "boy's body" and through her tears said that she'd tried to gain weight with shakes, etc. but her metabolism just wouldn't allow it. That was just heartbreaking to me... I guess the grass is always greener, but I feel like us gals really beat ourselves up for not being the ideal we see in our minds. As different as that ideal may be, It's usually the complete opposite of what we are by nature.

I have compassion towards those who can’t control it due to medical factors. I think this applies for SOME overweight people to accept and love themselves when they truly cannot do anything about it no matter how much they eat or how little they eat, if they workout or not. Some people have medical conditions where they’re extremely overweight from genetics and slow metabolisms.

Landon Tristen some people are also really overweight due to income issues. Especially in America. It’s way easier to get $35 of McDonald’s than it is to get $35 of fresh produce. You get more McDonald’s for that amount, too. And sometimes when you’re low income, you can only afford processed cheap food. It’s sad that the system pretty much just sets people up for failure. Lots of people in America aren’t taught proper nutrition either. Our home economics classes are either a joke or just plain nonexistent, and parents don’t really teach kids how to cook for themselves anymore.

I feel like a lot of people when talking about anorexic beauty do not really realize that this look is not achieved by only dieting and sports. Girls starve themselves, some take drugs to stay slim and many actually have very serious body dysmorphia, which often times can lead to anorexia and bulimia. And these eating disorders are in no way prettier or healthier than obesity, but still society seems to believe that slim is good, and fat is bad, forgetting to ask how any of these girls get where they are.

Agree in some part but not all. My girlfriend often gets called ‘skinny’ or people think she is unhealthy. She is slim and no way underweight and perfectly healthy. She should not be demonised for being healthy but unfortunately it happens all too often. Society is now accepting a more unhealthy weight with every year and the bar is being lowered. This is extremely dangerous. Diabetes is the fastest spreading disease in the world which is directly linked to obesity, anorexia and bulimia are nowhere near the rate of diabetes.

Ahmed G. i completely agree that women with genuine healthy physiques, who have worked hard for their bodies & are happy should be shown. however i don’t agree that certain models who are clearly underweight, and are actually starving themselves to achieve the required measurements, and might i add not happy - should be shown. it’s setting an unhealthy example and creating a false reality. models should be HEALTHY, and you don’t have to be slim & athletic to achieve that.

I am obese, I weigh 220lbs and I don't deny it. I use the term obese and not plus sized, curvy, etc because those are unhealthy terms that don't help you. I don't want fat "acceptance" because it is unhealthy. What I DO want is respect, because if I get respect then it helps me keep a positive mind set and I'll be more mentally positive and it will help me lose weight. If Instead I get insulted and bullied for my looks, it will produce a negative outcome as the mean comments will negatively affect my mental health and I'll comfort eat (which I struggle with). When I lose weight, my friends and family will compliment me - not to promote my current obesity - but to praise and promote the weight loss, as slow as it may be. It doesn't help to bully someone but it also doesn't help to straight up lie about people modelling and promoting their weight as being a good thing. We need to be respectfully realistic

Very good point. Between roided out bodybuilders, anorexic emaciated women, and now morbidly obese women, it's ridiculous. It might have something to do with the fact that these modeling agencies would still want to edit/photoshop photos of a natural, shredded man or woman and honestly normal people that work out hard as fuck wouldn't accept that. Base your fitness goals off of your own personal health and happiness, not bullshit magazines.

I feel like most people don’t really understand why being so over weight isn’t that big of a problem so here’s some info(I’m not a doctor by any means this is just stuff I’ve personally dealt with). From my knowledge there’s two main kinds of fat, visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is just regular old fat that lies directly under the skin and isn’t really considered as harmful as visceral fat. Visceral fat is the fat that wraps around organs and contributes to the development of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. If you’re that big it doesn’t matter if you eat healthy or not, there is absolutely no way you don’t have a heavy amount of visceral fat. It’s fucking stupid😑😑🔫🔫🔫

For now it's just extremes of one end because it sells well. Next month's cosmopolitan will 99% sure cover an anorexic model and will cover some weird new dietary trip that *TOTALLY* works. And honestly I get it. Who wants to read about an average jane or joe? People already see themselves as an average individual, and they want to read shit that makes them feel relatable to someone else that they look up to, not relate to someone who's exactly the same as them. ('Oh this size 10-12 semi-attractive person ALSO works a 9-5 job and work out 3 times a week?!?!? How exciting!')

Because it is a business that is trying to make money. I understand your point however, "Average" dosen't sell. In sales the idea is to create a feeling of desire. If everyone has it, it is no longer desirable. Exclusivity is what they are shooting for.

Because if you watch the video closely Ethan says we put fit, athletic people on the covers because they've worked hard to achieve something, they work hard to look that good and if everyone in the room is being honest 9/10 people find fit athletic models more aesthetically pleasing. We can see "normal" people with completely average "okay-ish" bodies in public all day long, its nothing new, and fit people just model clothes better. Its just facts.

People can say “you’re still beautiful being obese”, but you can’t change human’s primal idea of attraction. Subconsciously they won’t think obesity is attractive.

All animals, including humans are biologically attracted to a healthy partner to ensure their own offspring is healthy too. A normal human will never consider a morbidly obese person attractive, besides kinks, which is unnatural too. I’m all for body positivity, but she is not what people should be looking up to.

Are you saying it's comfortable to be obese? I wouldn't know personally but from what I've heard from others is that it is incredibly uncomfortable and it is the cause of many other illnesses and health problems, so it definitely isn't comfortable to be obese or morbidly obese. It is however, comfortable to be fit and healthy.
@RJT80

Why can't the left just be reasonable about anything? There is some evidence that even subconsciously we treat fat people differently. So consciously try to be as decent as you would to them as you would anyone else. But do not normalize that level of obesity. Do not normalize serious mental conditions like gender dysmorphia. If you want to be compassionate then be that. Telling a kid it is okay to go through a sex change is not compassion. It's madness. Our most well intentioned things often backfire. People forget that the black community did not want welfare. They thought it would do exactly what it has done. Incentivize having more children you cannot pay for, etc.
