If I'd climbed up there I would have spent all day. Very cool. I was surprised that Amanda had flip flops on. Even Mark's expensive shoes looks somewhat sketchy for that kind of climbing.

haha, yeah, we're never really quite prepared. We stayed for a few hours, but wanted to get down because there was storm clouds moving in. I definitely got my money's worth from those shoes though :)

I plan on doing this in June when I visit Halong Bay. What time of day did you go to Poem Mountain and where do I find someone to open the gate if someone isn't sitting right there?

We arrived almost exactly at 2pm in the month of December. If no one is sitting in the chair you should give it 10-20 minutes to see if anyone comes. If there's no one there you should try to ask the locals... but be aware some will probably mess with you =/ 💜Amanda

To find English speaking vietnamese. You need to go into hotels or office building. There are millions of hotels in vietnam. Each time i rented a bike, it has little to no gas too. It is stupid. I ran out of gas once in Da Nang remind you this is a big city hard to find gas. Later found out whole city has wifi free to everyone and look on map search for gas it was around the corner where i had no gas left. Luck was on my side.
