quintin tarantino's movies are always special, love the tension,humour and exagerated violence 😄 about this new channel, did you combine all australia, canada and US channels together or am i dreaming? other question, i know why scenes r cut in movie reactions but do you guys listen to the whole movie or the cut versions here? always some interresting stuff on your channels 👍 I like the fact that you dont always cut or talk over the videos too much like some others do, also gotta respect the amount of time and work you put on this, about every day something you could improve is the sound, volume difference between your voices and the video, many reaction channels have trouble with that, keep on the hard work🙂

The Germans never occupied Algeria, but "notionally held it" by proxy of the Vichy France regime from 1940-1942, until the Americans landed in November 1942 and 'liberated' Algeria. That said, the Germans had zero control or say in governing of Algeria. They had no troops there and no right to impose themselves. Indeed, the Germans preferred that Algeria and Vichy remain neutral to prevent Allied attack, and spare them the cost of occupation. De Gaulle and the Free French came in and then administered it. But, the Germans did occupy Tunisia when the Americans landed in November 1942, pouring 200,000 troops to hold it to prevent the American forces from attacking into Field Marshal Rommel's rear as he and his Panzerarmee Afrika had been fighting the British in Libya and Egypt since spring 1941 after the Italians botched their invasion of Egypt in early 1941. The war in North Africa had gone back and forth across Libya and deeply into Egypt for a couple years, but the American invasion in late 1942 pretty much sealed the fate of the Italian North African colonies. Rommel and his army fought very well, inflicting some heavy losses on the Americans and British, but were eventually surrounded in Tunisia. Rommel left for Europe, but his army and the Italian army, some 300,000 troops, surrendered in spring 1943.

Well, by that logic Britain didn't occupy all of India for the simple fact that they too relied on subjugated states to control certain areas for them. Algeria was within the realm of the Third Reich and even though the country was controlled by the French collbaborationist government, the Germans used it for their own goals (for example economic exploitation like forced labour camps). It's just that Algeria was pretty low on Germany's agenda so why bother interfering, if the Vichy French managed to keep things in order? Even if we say that Algeria was technically not occupied by Germany, it was occupied by the Axis, which was being lead by Germany and thus German soldiers were stationed in Algeria, even if we're just talking about liasion or intelligence personnel.
@crownprincesebastianjohano7069
@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 27 күн бұрын
@@HastDuWasSuchen The comparison between British control of India, and German notional control of Algeria is not correct. The Germans had no more control over Algeria than they did Indochina or Madagascar. The British both directly and indirectly administered India via proxy leaders and direct rule. Either way, the British made policy and had the final say in India. No analogous structure existed in Algeria and Germany did not make policy in Algeria, or benefitted economically. On the contrary, Germany had a vested interest in not appearing to control Algeria and other French colonies because it would invite Allied attack they could ill-afford. The Germans wished to foster the appearance of Vichy neutrality as it cost them nothing then to keep Algeria out of Allied hands. As a consequence, the conditions you describe about German run forced labour camps, and other direct methods of economic exploitation, or even military coordination did not exist in Algeria. There was not a single German officer who had control over anything in Algeria. The only German military personnel in Algeria were a small handful of diplomatic or liaison officers. French military installations, especially naval bases, were off limits to German personnel other than officers of the Armistice Commission who had access only through the proper graces set forth by the instrument. Intelligence officers of every nation was in Algeria and no German Abwehr offices operated in any official capacity there.
@HastDuWasSuchen
@HastDuWasSuchen 27 күн бұрын
@@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Yes, they had more control over Algeria than Madagascar or Indochina. They had naval forces and other officers (which you yourself has admitted to) stationed in Algeria, which they didn't have in the other two places. What do you think these diplomatic and liasion officers did, huh? How about making sure that German interests were upheld. As I was explaining earlier, they didn't need to make direct policy in Algeria as long as everything worked out. Furthermore they did influence policy indirectly, which you can see from the anti-Jewish policies the Vichy government implemented. Why did they do this? MAYBE cause the Germans told 'em to do so. Oh and no Abwehr offices were officially in Algeria... right, cause one thing intelligence organisations are known for is documenting precisely what their agents are doing... I agree with you, that my comparison with British India overall is faulty so let me be more specific as I was referring mainly to the princely states.

Historically Jews who lived among Muslims were better off than Jews who lived among Xians. There's a lot of extremism in both the Muslim and Xian world these days over Israel. So the 20th century has not been a good one for Jewish/Muslim relations. But it's the extremists that want to eliminate all nuance and all places where people can actually get along.

Bruno Ganz does a phenomenal job portraying Adolf Hitler, it's a sad movie and there were a few moments when I shed some tears. Indeed that is really good... The saddest part is that Stalin was so brutal to the Soviet people and his soldiers were ordered to execute other Soviets who surrendered to the Germans if they were out of ammunition. Most of the German pows and around 2 or 3 million of them were starved to death.. I would have never surrendered to them but possibly these divisions didn't know. When the Soviet military liberated the Soviet POW camps they executed every one of them and that's something that the West would not ever do. The soldiers could have gone to fight on another day or throughout the rest of the war after they got fixed up and fed. Stalin had no regard for human life whatsoever. Due to the way stalin treated his people, when the Soviets reached Germany they were out for revenge. It's been regarded as the rape of Berlin.. Soviet troops would gain up on girls ages 12 or 13 to 60!! It was disgusting & the Western allies ended up finding out about it. The best that the West could do is when the USA and the UK did the Berlin airlift and fluid out of Western Germany every 3 to 5 minutes and dropped off tons and tons of food for about 6 months because the Soviets were attempting to starve out West Germany to force them to be communist...

Hitler suicided himself before being captured in his hiding place, but that would not ended the world war two yet. It officially ended when US army dropped the two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, in 1945, after 6 years of war. German nazis took 80% of Europe and some parts of north Africa, and their expansion started to be blocked once they tried to expanse in eastern Europe, towards Russia. At that point they've been stuck in between Russians on the East and Allies on the West (US Army, landed in France, together with the Europe resistance). Hitler wanted to replicate what Romans did with their Empire, that's why he called his organization "third Reich", which means "third Empire" (the first two were the Ottoman and the Roman ones).

Another great reaction, guys 😄. Is this your first Quentin Tarantino movie? He is a writer and director who started his career as video store clerk and has an encyclopedic knowledge of movies. He especially loves films from the 1970s and exploitations films involving violence and crime and revenge. He also pushes the boundaries of traditional storytelling and loves to jump around with the chronology of his movies - meaning he starts in the middle or end, and then jumps backwards and forwards or changes perspectives. Inglorious Basterds is his first War movie and pays homage to the WW2 “men on a mission” movies he grew up with. He also wanted to cast German, French and British actors and be authentic with the languages and accents. I highly recommend you watch all of Tarantino movies (he’s got 8 or 9) and Django Unchained would be a great follow up because Christoph Waltz plays a good guy! Or, start at the beginning with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Please keep the reactions coming and I wish you much success.

The dislike for the Jews wasn't really anything new when Hitler took power. In general, there was a dislike between Jew / non-Jew in European countries due to many cultural differences. After Germany's humiliating defeat in WWI, it was common belief among many (mostly German veterans) due to propaganda that they didn't lose on the battlefield from a military standpoint, but Jews and communists had betrayed the country and influenced a German government that simply wanted to quit the fight so to speak. Many people took this belief which led to a higher level of anti-Jew mentality in Germany. Unfortunately, Hitler, also having this view was able to seize power with likeminded individuals and do the evil things they did.

After he did what he did, Hitler realized there was no going back, but he could’ve fired the guy. The reason Hitler didn’t fire him is because he did not 100% disagree with him but his main reason is that he said he needed Goebbels because he was so dependent on him as a propaganda minister.

As someone who grew up in the back hills of Tennesse, Maynardville is a real place and Brad Pitt absolutely nailed the spirit of somebody out of Union County. "Thunder road" used to run through there (and where I lived in Claiborne County) and a lot of moonshine still runs through those hills. (Incidentally, Robert Mitchum did a movie about it called Thunder Road)

12:18 fun attention to detail but the badge above the soldier's left breast pocket is the Close Combat Badge in Silver. Those who held it were often held to a higher esteem than those who even held the Knights Cross. On the Badge is oak leaves and a Knife/Grenade. It's issued to men who fought/survived a specific number of close combat engagements, and I mean up close/personal, like storming a house, building or trench. It came in three grades. Bronze = 15 said engagements, Silvers 25 said engagements and Gold 50 said Engagements. A single one of those engagements were enough to earn someone an Iron Cross counting on their actions during said engagement, but survived so many of those kind of engagements to earn the Close Combat Badge let alone "Silver" means this guy has gone through a lot of battles.

The problem is that such an event doesn't happen out of nowhere. Extreme times doesn't create ordinary governments. After ww1 the allies treated Germany the way they did and it was clear that a second conflict would break out. Every country would have done the same.. Blaming on a scapegoat to unite the country because Germany was a young country with a glorious past.. After ww1 they were in the deepest low ever.. No food, water or money.. It was worthless because of hyper inflation.

Inglourious Basterds is the best and Brad Pitt and Christoph waltz😂 Brad Pitt was the main character and his southern accent was awesome, but he is from the south in Missouri. Ha!! He told the men they owed him a debt, and what they owed him were the scalps of 100 Nazis. 😂

I watched this before years ago. I was looking for itto watch it again and found your channel. But I found it interesting to see your reaction because you don't know whats going to happen. I don't know why you live or how much you guys know about this 5 year long horrific war period in Europe? One of my grandfathers was hidden in a very small space under a wooden floor like that for 2,5 years. Not enough food and always in fear . lost a lot of weight but he survived thanks to very brave Christians. The actress Melanie Laurent in this movie is very good. She also plays in another very good (French) movie La Rafle - The Round Up. (free on tubitv) It is 'sbased on a true history which maybe you could also review (if you don't mind subtitles). Excellent Actor Jean Reno plays in it too. It sadly is also part of our family history, my fathers little 4 year old brother who was hidden in a different home was betrayed to the Germans. He was taken to that same transit camp and then taken to a deathcamp.... There is a good Geman movie about that train journey called Der Letze zug - The Last Train. (on you tube) Maybe not very happy movies but both very good and history.
