My Key points; 1) Make alternative habit 2) Make your habit flexible and level your habit 3)Gamification ( Give different points according to level of your habit after finishing. Also compare each day point with past point). The no.3 is interesting and I will try from today. Thanks you for the video.❤

After lots of trials trying to develop new habits, I came to idea giving myself alternatives and building a similar system presented in the video. Absolutely game changer. The system works and it’s pleasurable. I don’t use my strength of will anymore, I just see all this habits as a part of myself. Listen to this guy closely and follow his advice!

I feel like this is the system I've been looking for all this time! Love the idea of “keeping the habit alive” to avoid losing motivation. I'll also use the 2-day rule I've heard from James Clear: If you break a habit one day (bc life happens), make sure you don't break it the next day! Love your content! Can't wait to see your community posts and other platforms :)

I've been doing this, but I ramped up the game by adding wagers. At the beginning of the week I bet myself 10 points that I will complete a certain habit at a certain level everyday. It is usually at either medium or hard, although in the beginning of the habit it was at easy. If I win I get my 10 points back x a difficulty rating. For Easy it is .3, .5 for medium and 1.0 for hard. So, it's 3 pts, 5pts and 10 pts that I get extra per week. This gives me extra motivation to do more than just show up. Eventually, as I get some habits more established I will probably only allow bets for hard. I've also been setting up rewards that I buy with points. I'm very careful to only allow rewards that won't hurt my goals, but that are still things that will motivate me. Ramping up the stakes engages my competitive nature more since I really don't want to loose any points. Some weeks I place 3 possible bets in a bowl and pick one at random just to make it more exciting. I evaluate my week and only put options in that are doable.

Glad you liked the video. BTW, when I read your comment, I couldn't believe the number!!! 15 Habits are a lot. I hope they are useful and helping you to reach your goals. Because sometimes, some habits are just told to us to be good, but when you look at it, it doesn't have any "significant" impact on your life and your goals. I... I love you. 😍 Ha ha this is great, thank you so much! 🤩 I've been wanting to gamify habits for myself and my kids which I've done before and they loved it. But back then there were some options that offered more points. And to gain points sometimes they would try to stay up later etc. But I like having the "show up" option. That makes it more effective in terms of keeping a habit alive. I knew I needed something like this but somehow it didn't really click to see how I could make it work because some days even "easy" is a challenge. I'm now suddenly remembering my daily drawing habit, my "easy" was 5 min of drawing but "showing up" was just drawing an emoji for my feelings then lol I admit though, it felt like a cheat but now when I think about it it's really not! Seeing your examples and the explanation was just what I needed. 🥰 Funnily enough, if it matters, when it comes to working out, because my schedule can be unpredictable with young kids and their school schedule, my trainer gave me an at home workout and a gym workout. Once I outgrew the difficulty of my home gym I progressed to the gym. But what's been great was that when I couldn't make it to the gym I didn't have to miss my workout I can still workout at home. And once I traveled, with resistance bands, I didn't have to completely miss then either. It's not as hard as when I hit the gym but it's still effective and keeps my habit alive. ^-^ Thanks again for this video. ❤

Great content! I've always been a person of systems, but every system I'd placed for habit building kept failing 😢. Maybe it's something to do with the lack of motivation I've been feeling lately, but your system tackles this with something as simple as showing up. On top of that the gamification strategy keeps it really interesting! I could even reward myself when I reach my goal scores. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much. It's nice of you. So happy to hear that you liked the video. BTW, about your suggestion: To be honest, if I re-create a video about this topic and do not add enough value to that new one, people won't watch that video and this negatively impacts the channel. I should record a video later on (because I have improved the system a little bit but those improvements are not enough for a brand-new video *yet*) Could you give me more detailed feedback? What should I cover? What exactly do you need to know more about this system? And ...? BTW, I should once again thank you for being kind and giving feedback which really motivates me.

I feel like just calculating some score lacks a final step in regards to gamification, like why should I bring my score as high as possible? Maybe tying different outcomes or rewards to the points, etc. Just on its own, it seems a bit open ended and I was surprised to see the video end when it did.
@DailyAtomicSteps
@DailyAtomicSteps Жыл бұрын
You're right. I consider the motivation of the improving the scores to be kind of internal. But if we can add some external motivators, that would make the system even better. Something like "Buying myself x if I reach score y" pops into my mind. But that's so obvious and not creative. Do you have any idea? To make the system better And anyone reading this comment, please give feedback about this to make the system even better in terms of external rewards.

I think your system is really very interesting! As an enthusiast of using the Notion app, I will turn your system into a Notion template to track habits and see how it all goes. I genuinely loved your approach of alternatives and the ease with which we can track points and stay motivated with the Show up version. I can see you put effort into this video and it was worth it so thank you! I will share it around me so you get more attention, the one you deserve. You make the world a better place. 🙂

hey loved the video, i've never seen something like this for habit building before. this is so helpful. what would some alternatives for studying be ?
@DailyAtomicSteps
@DailyAtomicSteps Жыл бұрын
So happy to hear that. I hope you find it useful. But your question: You yourself should think and define your alternatives and different levels (Because studying is a generic term. For someone, means studying for their thesis. So the alternatives should be about thesis. For some others, studying just mean studying a material they have been taught in school. And many more. So you yourself should define these things (Based on your own problem and purpose)). And many thanks for your feedback and support.
@kiagami7970
@kiagami7970 Жыл бұрын
I would say that you should first define what you would count as "Studying". And then part different ways like "Learning Vocabulary" "Writing an Text-Homework" "Reading a Text and taking Notes", depending on what you are studying these can all be Alternatives. If you are still in school, all the different subject you have can technically be different Alternatives, but I'd probably part it in different ways of studying and tasks to do. If you want to seperate the subjects into different habits, you can make alternatives like "Notetaking" "Research" "review" etc. The "Showing Up" might all be the the same of going to sit at your desk, but that shouldnt stop you. Dont take Studying as the Subject but be a bit more specific about the tasks you can encounter. I hope this helps or atleast inspires you :)

Came across the video and I'm very interested in trying it for my language learning. Though, I'm struggling to figure out how to break it down into alternatives and levels. I would like it broken first into four habits of speaking, listening, writing and reading. Any advice?
@DailyAtomicSteps
@DailyAtomicSteps Жыл бұрын
Here's an example: **** Vocabulary: Show-Up: Picking Up one Flashcard (not necessarily reading it) Easy: Review Flashcards of the previous 10 Units Medium: Review + Learning 1 new word Hard: Review + Learning 5 new words **** Grammar: Show-Up: Opening my Grammar pamphlet (not necessarily reading it) Easy: Review 1 Grammar Rule Medium: Review 10 Previous Grammar Rules Hard: Review (10 Previous Grammar Rules) + Learning one new grammar rule **** Speaking: Show-Up: Choosing a random topic to speak about (for example: "habits") Easy: Try Taking about that topic for about 2 minutes (and record it with your phone). Medium: Try Taking about that topic for about 10 minutes (and record it with your phone). Hard: Try Taking about that topic for about 2 minutes (and record it with your phone) + Listening to your recording and searching for better words and grammar mistakes (for example using Grammarly) and so on. **** Reading: This is the easiest one! Because you can apply the same examples as reading a book. **** Writing: This is also easy. Because you can apply the same examples explained in the book for writing.
