The Yastreb-AV system is said to cost 250 Million dollars and I like to put that into perspective the following way: HIMARS is 4.3 Million a pop, so all 39 HIMARS launchers in Ukraine + 2 full pods of M31 GMLRS per launcher cost less than the Yastreb-AV. HIMARS has been in service in Ukraine for 18 months and we've not yet seen reliable evidence for the loss of a single truck. Yastreb-AV was in service less than 18 _hours_ and we have 4K resolution footage of it turning into a tea strainer already.

The US made that gear to fight an peer foe. Russia ever since the dawn of the coldwar has acted like a major threat, an equal, maybe even higher foe so every chance the US was given, we made gear to rival or surpass Russian equipment. That gear was made for one purpose, to finish its job and to stop any threats from Russia and in the words of this channel, "its not the US fault you were lying this entire time". Edit 12 hours later: How to know I'm correct? Russian view managers or whatever you wish to call them, the people paid to try and slowly make people no longer support Ukraine and support Russia, in 12 hours not one has replied. Normally they reply or comment on within 30 minutes.

The more and more I have educated myself on history, the more I'm learning that all the stereotypes I learned in my youth about other countries were a problem with leadership's decisions being generalized; the French populace has a massive FAFO energy. It's like "haha French always surren--" **Stares in horror at the accounts during revolution and resistance measures during occupations.** Like, there is no shelf life on revenge. Also: French Foreign Legion -- I can't name one other first world country so well known for racking a bolt and handing people a green card chambered in 556.

Oh yeah, there's a reason a lot of the military language still used originates from French. They were massively successful for a long time, the stereotype comes from a combination of WW2, where pretty much everyone in Europe got steamrolled by the Germans anyway in the early part of it, and The Simpsons with the "cheese eating surrender monkeys" gag. And the current French protests? Those are mild compared with times when they did things like destroy pretty much every speed camera in the country.

France surrendered in WWII because they were completely overwhelmed, their tactics were horrendously outdated and they suffered logistically from sharing a continent with Germany. England has the English Channel to defend them from Blitzkrieg, Germany was forced to rely on naval superiority (and even with Uboats and an updated military doctrine, England still held a heavy advantage in that theater, thanks to their already powerful navy and the support of overseas colonies) and air superiority (which Hitler admittedly shot himself in the foot with). France took the full brunt of the Luftwaffe and the Panzer corps. They simply never had a chance. So they had to surrender. But even then, the French resisted, both domestically and internationally. They were occupied, certainly, but they were never conquered.

The saddest part of the insurgency bit at the end is that America’s current generation of leadership is only 1, maybe 2, generations away from when we did one of the only uncategorically successful military occupations. @joeyginise6051
@joeyginise6051 9 ай бұрын
We did. We just learned the wrong lessons. Japan already had a democratic movement going on at the time of the occupation. So, it was easy to change them because they were already open to it. it also helped that the current government at the time had just lost a major war and consequently lost the trust and faith of the people. Islamic nations are so fundamentalist, that it is impossible to change them in any way. The Locals RESPECT the terrorists, they see them as holy. Why else did the Afghans capitulate so quickly. This is why the Gazans will NEVER revolt against Hamas for bringing war to their doorstep. Because they both hate the Jews and would rather be homeless than see a single Jew own an inch of land.

@nicolastayar8814 in the sense that there's no fancy business man with enough money to build my small house out of straight dollar bills paying to push some strange propaganda so he makes more money and a bunch of news networks say a lot of different things. The whole part about it being accurate and a good first hand sourse, is only feasible with the ability to read articles and reading comprehension. I wasn't saying it was accurate at face value, just there was a lot of truth behind it. Also, it was supposed to be funny.

I remember my sophomore year in 2004, debating that the Iraq and Afghanistan wouldn't work. My main argument at the time was my grandad's stories of Nazi diehards and communist insurgents during the occupation of Germany, my German grandparents stories of the different pro communist error groups in Germany and how the IRA seemed to always be on the news, and my dad's stories from when he was stationed in Germany and they would receive safety briefings about those same groups. Interestingly enough pretty much all of Europe's terror groups pretty much disappeared overnight after 1991. Could it be that the primary sponsor of those groups stopped paying them? Nah it couldn't be that simple. My point was that as long as there is funding, training, and manpower coming from secure countries the insurgency will not stop. Nation building won't work because our way of living which is an outgrowth of our culture will not work because we weren't trying to change their culture, we gave them a government incompatible with their way of live. On top of that half of our own government had a vested interest of ensuring that any nation building in that part of the world fails. As to Israel learning from the US, here is one more story. An old friend of the family at who's house we used to spend Christmas. He was 13 and in the Hitler youth, there was 5 of them and a 13 to 17, the 17 year old one was in charge, they had a few rifles and a panzerfaust. When the Americans came to the village his mother prevented him from going out, the other 4 shot at the approaching group. The Americans fell back and shelled the village, who then captured and turned over the 4 boys who the Americans then hung. Israel right now is using the only language the Palestinians understand and because of it they might have more success then we did because as pointed it out doing it our way for 20 years didn't seem to work, then again we do have people in power with vested interests on insuring it doesn't.
@kenji214245
@kenji214245 9 ай бұрын
Actually the people who proposed the hearts and minds program was mostly ignored and the other programs to help the nations build up was poorly executed for several years. It also didn't help that the US and other nations where actively bombing and fighting insurgents and also hitting local farmers hard which ended up resetting the outreach programs results time and time again. Ironically we are seeing more results from that undermining the taliban after the US pulled out. Afghanistan as a territory might actually do more progress now thanks to the work done before because the population and even some of the taliban are very used to the modern commodities and thus are not keen on reverting all the laws. But it will be a slow process.
@Dzimko-rc2io

I think issue was that they have never tried to deal with a core problem - Taliban itself. And abrupt withdrawal didn't help either. On another hand - was this outcome bad for USA? I don't think so. There are even arguments that they have deliberately left weapons to destabilize region even more. This also I think helped Putin to start the war, which I think benefitted USA a lot. Sometimes I think that everything goes according to the plan it's just that we can't comprehend the size of it as we only see small pieces

@@Dzimko-rc2io Interestingly enough one of the stated goals for the middle east by the state department is stability to prevent fluctuations in the oil market. Because of it's geographic location India and China would be most affected by and unreliable supply. Further supply disruptions would provide another pressure point for advancing the renewable energy agenda. So there is a good point to be had from saying that deliberate instability in the region would directly benefit those in power of the US.
@Dzimko-rc2io
@Dzimko-rc2io 9 ай бұрын
@@sleepygryph I personally don't believe in 'stated goals' from any country. As you said it doesn't look like stability in the middle east would help USA. But at the same time they can't publicly announce 'we want some chaos there so we left you some toys, taliban'. I think we are on the same page here By the way from what I could find USA was number 1 oil producer in 2023. So even if oil goes up - it's still a win. For me the way how russia is basically advertising Americans old weaponry is the best though.
