This is actually kind of a genius idea on Tenacious D's part. They always really did kind of occupy that space between rock music (and parody rock music, at that) but also mainly like musicals and show tunes. So they have now combined the traditional rock concert with the traditional broadway format. Like honestly if you like Tenacious D but think you hate musicals, you really don't, they just found a way to give you that same experience but keeping you unaware about it.
@michaeljohn89054 жыл бұрын
Dude your right. It legendary but it has roots in the 70,s with guys like Meatloaf his cameo in the movie.

@@TheMento98 Never said you would, just that they're bring elements of showtunes to a genre that traditionally didn't. The Pick of Destiny, by extension, is low key a musical. Sorry to tell you.
@srehh55294 жыл бұрын
@@TheMento98 You picked a musical with a drastically different style to make a point. This video looks close to one of those typical rock/metal musicals that have cheap props, like Faust Die Rockoper...although you probably won't find much of it in the US. From what I've seen in popular American musicals, they retain the old fashioned Broadway music or singing style to some degree. Just look at how they turned most of the American Idiot album from pop-punk into typical Broadway music. If you just want pure modern songs like pop/rock in musicals without typical Broadway sounds, there are lots in France and Germany. Sweden also makes pretty cool metal adaptations. The Dracula musical from France basically just feels like a really expensive pop concert with almost no plot, acting or dialogue. It's just unrelated pop music one after another with a bunch of back up dancers. It's not my thing, but I'll just give you that to show that there are musicals popularized like modern concerts and aren't the typical Broadway-styled ones like Sound of Music. Although I personally love Sound of Music for the dark and heavy toned plot for its last 1/3 and not the musical for the first 2/3 of the story.

One of the most underrated bands of all time. Absolute genius over the top talent with Kyle and Jack.

The guy who plays the Devil isn't a singer, but the actor who's actually Lee from the Pick of Destiny. For all my homies with the DVD, if you've watched the deleted scenes, there's a point where it shows Lee is actually the Devil. Now that's a great nod right here!

Well less he actually is the devil and more he got possessed by the devil

In every TD in concert video I've ever seen, the crowd is always totally into it. They've got a great fan base.

This comment is quite late coming, but I don't think many people realize that the person playing the devil is no other than LEE! He's no Dave Grohl, but he has his own history with the band and I think he did a really great job.
