apparently if you create a new midi track, select the MIDI in from the output of the track which you been using the scale midi effect on - then arm record and hit record. the new midi channel will record the correct notes. you can then disable scale on the original track and just copy over the newly outputted midi recording from the blank channel to the one your working on. note. ive not tried this yet but apparently it works

Yes I wanted to keep the steps simple in this video so debated showing that part. I may show it in a future video when writing some melodies. Thanks for your feedback.

Its cool,.cause when you turn off Scale, you would be now playing some F lydian stuff (as the bass is setting the root on F yet you played C maj notes), and still has a nice exotic vibe to it.

Hey man, love your vids. I've been producing alot of liquid dnb and I've started to get the grasp of more deep/minimal stuff now, but I'm having a hard time mixing, even with liquid. I have all the ideas down and what I want it to sound like, but I can never mix it correctly. Especially the drums, even with sidechaining I cant get it right. Could you do a tutorial on mixing? Drums, basslines, EQ, sidechaining, frequency/stereo filling.

This must be a joke. Jump up tunes don’t have intros these days. It’s like 10 seconds long. My grandma can write that shit. Go back to the 90s and early 2001 tunes had actual intros that would make your hair stand up.

A quick note on the shortcut at 9:20 of just transposing by 5, although the notes would be in the A minor scale they would now be in a different mode if I'm not mistaken?
@STRANJAH
@STRANJAH 4 жыл бұрын
That is a good question, my initial thinking is that it should not change - the intervals of the notes are still intact - so mode should be constant.
@DumboSanchez
@DumboSanchez 4 жыл бұрын
@@STRANJAH Big up yourself, love the channel honestly so I really appreciate the reply! I figured it would depend if the transposition happened before or after the notes are snapped into scale, so to test it out I recorded the MIDI internally and sure enough, doing it this way with the transpose function changes the key but also the mode too ie it goes dorian, phrygian etc, you can hear it in the video too. Interesting stuff!

Cheers another great video. Would it make any difference placing the scale tool before or after the chord tool?
@STRANJAH
@STRANJAH 4 жыл бұрын
Great question Dave, it may make a difference depending on the chord and scale you choose. It's like playing a chord and telling it to then correct the notes. Or correcting your notes and then making a chord out of that. The note combination may be different in each case.

I deleted my initial comment because people might not have taken it as sarcasm... however, I REaLLY wanna urge ANYONE who loves music (even just a listener) to at least attempt to conceptualize some basic properties of sound/ tone. After all theory is simply one’s quest to understand sonic properties. Figuring out what a halfstep sounds like compared to a whole step is the same thing as figuring out what delay or reverb does... and I’d say a concept of fundamental properties of sound (music theory) is about as integral to the pursuit of creating electronic music as electronics themselves.. you can’t have any sort of taste or style without it....is as elemental to this as getting a DAW or a piece of hardware..... it makes absolutely no sense why someone would learn about one half and not the other... because one is a person who wants to express art via music and one is a person who throws paint at a wall, randomly, until someone tells them it looks good and then they take credit for being a painter.... it’s all for the love of music. Much respect ya’ll, YOu gOt tHiS!!! It’s all so simple when you break it down
@STRANJAH
@STRANJAH 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. I agree, with you that a general understanding of music is important. If you're going to take on music, you will need a general understand of the theory, the technical side, creative side to be a competent producer. That's why I stressed that this was a "cheat" but not a replacement for theory, and I recommended everyone they should still learn theory. I even included a couple KZbin links in the description that are great channels for learning music theory. That said this tool is still "fun" for those early in their journey who want to start jamming right away. My advice would then to analyse those notes and get an understanding of why they sound good.
