He's my favorite, but dayum, those other waves are actually kinda terrifying to look back on. I wouldn't call them Eldritch, but some are so ...impossible to even describe. The way Macha floats up in your face, then buds-out in an otherworldly siren song... To be honest, I'd probably be driven insane if I encountered any of them in actual reality. Skeith though... I'm right here homie....

This was by far one of the hardest bosses in the series, considering by this point you can't really get higher than around 30 or so, and even with buffs and the best gear he can still kill any of your members in a few hits(especially the Wavemasters). Piros could take a few hits from Skeith's staff, but his Judgement attack could obliterate him.

In my copy he would always kill kite right as he protect broke and before I could ressurect and data drain him it would restore. I'm not the only one, every person I lent the game to experienced this. Skeith was a 1hr + boss fight.

I was at level 35 when I beat Skeith, and I had Mistral with me instead of Elk. But either one are so handy to have because of their strong support magic and healing. And yeah, Skeith's battle theme is awesome.

I remember fighting Skeith with lvl 25 characters. My party had all of the beginning chars, Kite, Blackrose and Mistral. I used a lot of recovery items and Mistral healed like a goddess. It was an extremely long and hard fight fight but i managed to beat it my first time. :)

A few suggestions: 1) Given the movement speed of the 8 Phases, Kite should have the Ap Do skill (Time equipment is found in Delta Chronicling Pagan Sunny Demon.) Most of your time was spent chasing after Skeith. 2) If you've been to Theta Dog Dancing Passionate Tri Pansy, you get the Ceramic Helm, which has Rig Saem & Rig Geam. Give that to Blackrose. 3) You can get Element Items from various Delta & Theta dungeons - info is on Gamefaqs. Also, boost physical attack w/Warrior's Blood.

He isn't the next villian, he's framed to make you believe so at first, the real antagonist is Ovan, but you don't really know that until later. But anyway, like plenty of people explained earlier, he's there to protect the game from AIDA and any virus that should pop-up. It makes sense if you think about it, though. He, Balmung, and Orca were the original heroes of The World, so when they weren't there, a version of them made by the game was made accordingly to fill in their positions.

I remember Skeith... For me, the battle against him was the game's real boss battle. In my opinion he was the hardest phase in the whole game, I hated it every time I fought him (and died in the end T.T).

Ah this is great love the somewhat old school sound effects. When i played this a couple years ago i was borrowing it from my cousin. Unfortunately i never got around to finishing it. Present day i went to gamestop to try and find it, but they didnt have anymore copies so i got .hack//mutation instead, hoping not to miss out on too much storyline. .hack// is great.

Ran out of space in my last comment: Don't get me wrong, you did a good job with the fight. You can cut the time down in half though with the right team & the proper boosts. My personal preference is Blackrose & Sanjuro, but there's no right or wrong way to fight Skeith. All that matters is winning. When I first went up against him, I died...REPEATEDLY. He is one of the harder bosses of the original series - Macha (if Suspicious Seduction works properly) and Corbenik are the other two.

I like it how you played it slowly so that the viewers could see what you were doing. Whenever I play, I go through the menus very fast. On my fight, I used Mistral instead of Elk and made her play offensively while I did all the healing. If I'm going to have a Wavemaster, I might as well pick the more cheerful one. :P The very first time I played, it took me several times to beat him. And you're right, after watching the anime, revenge is much sweeter >:) Data Drain, biotch!!

Seeing a pic in a Playstation Magazine of Kite doing it is pretty much the reason I got into it lol. Something so uniquely futuristic, but mixed-in with this "fantasy setting." I knew I had to check it out. I rented it, instantly loved it, returned to Blockbuster and went-out and bought it. Every game from there, even G.U., I got on launch day. @DaKrazedKyubizt biggest mistake i made was bringing a healer. elk and mistral get murdered way to easily and frequently, therefore they are extremely inefficient characters to use for this battled. After i stopped using elk and preplaced with an attacker, this battle got WAY easier. but it was still a bitch.

What I meant was in terms of fighting them in game standards. Corbenik was easy when I fought him in the game. Sure he was technically stronger than Skeith, but I meant challenge. Even if you're the max level of the first .hack game, Skeith still overwhelms you when you fight him. All of the others, including Corbenik, are a little more even with you. Sure, Corbenik's stronger than Skeith, but by the time you fight him you've gained enough ground to be even with him instead of out of your league

@mikeemmie Have elk use his multi attack skills and Blackrose using her only real skill worthy of note. Keep kite healed and out of the way as often as possible and occasionally throw some Item attacks at skeith. if you keep up, then you will eventually be able to data drain then go to freaking town on it.

You know what's funny? I can agree that Skeith is the hardest fight in the game. However, I just beat the game, yesterday, and the fight gave me little difficulty. Although, I probably shouldn't being saying it was easy, since I was spamming recovery items left and right (his physical attack hurts so much :/) On a side note, anyone else think Elk is the coolest Wavemaster in the game? >.>

I just beat the game. This boss was tough. Although everyone on my team (Kite, BlackRose, and Elk) was at level 32 or 33, I still had to use almost all my healing items just to stay alive.

I actually bought Outbreak first, not knowing the fact they were a multi-disk game. I died a lot, and really had no motivation to finish something midway through. Then I bought the first 2, years later and enjoyed it for real. I enjoyed this series even though Outbreak spoiled a third of it. If that doesn't say something about the quality, I don't know what will.

@mikeemmie Yeah last boss of infection. After that is the entire mutation game. Best advice I can give you is to use elk blackrose and (Obviously kite) have ite be the healer while elk and blackrose attack. Expect to get judgement every half a minute and then data drained afterwards. Get up to level 33 and you SHOULD be good. Might as well go for 35 cause anything less will be tedious. Use ALL the buffs you can buy at the item shops too. It will help. Plenty of res is always good too.

When I first battled this boss (about an hour ago) I was like "what the hell?!". Running for my life and what not while trying to simultaneously fight back. I was like, "am I supposed to die?" "cause that's what's going to happen" You did the same formation as me with Elk and Blackrose. My team was on level 32 I think.. I'm about to try again with all level 35's.

this battle i remember was the hardest encounter of any game ive played when i was a kid.. i cried so many times.. but i eventually tried spamming all of my elemental damage items on him during his invincible mode, and id be able to data drain after 2 or 3 minutes opposed to 20 minutes ahah

Exactly.. everyone keeps trying to attack attack.. but if you sit back and just lob spells at him you can knock him down pretty quick.. I'm re-playing the game right now and thats what I'm focusing on... building up my elemental items and my heal/resurrect/lightcrosses to 99 each. Should be able to walk in and burn about half my dang resurrects, but make it a relatively easy battle Not sure I'm even gonna waste my time with a healer on this run through

Had to use 3 resurrects , like 90 health drinks, about 5 health potions.. and a crap ton of offensive scrolls.. but I just healed when my folks got below 500-600 using health drinks. Elk needed resurrected 2x, I kite needed it once. I just kept hammering away with offensive scrolls and it was a pretty uneventful fight. Not any thing to stress about... Considering blackrose and elk were level 33 and I was level 34.. it's not a big deal of a fight. If you're trying to do it without scrolls.. yeah, then it becomes a big deal lol... I didn't even use 10 antidotes the whole match.. .and didn't need any restoratives.. which is annoying since I brought 99 of em lol.

Best weapons/equipment for the current game: (roughly) 10000 BP... Amount of money spent on items: 20000 BP... Vengance on the program that killed your buddy: Priceless. There are some things BP can't buy, for everything else there's Data Drain.

My biggest complaint with Infection was how slow of a start to the series it was. Most of the game revolved around building a team of characters you won't use for the most part until later games. Each succeeding game was better, I thought. Mutation included 2 Phases and a fight with Cubia, Outbreak included 2 more Phases, and Quarantine included 3 Phases, a huge fight with Cubia, and dungeons that were actually challenging. Try to find the rest of the games; it's worth it.

When fighting phases or data bugs, damage DOES NOT matter in the first half of the battle. You need to execute as many hits as you can in order to break their defenses and get them into PROTECT BREAK. Then, after you Data Drain them, unleash the devestation.

Skeith is the first Phase, he is the one that rides the Cursed Wave, bringing Death to all. Realistically, he did the most damage, racked up the most "kills" and caused the most problems. He and Corbenik, honestly, are the strongest. Death and Rebirth respectively. It's just that, as Phase 1, he is the first to enter battle.

My God this phase was annoying to deal with in the game. one swing from his wand and your dead. Skeith was among the toughest to beat in Infection. After finishing all four othe volumes I feel like fighting all 8 phases again to see how much of a challenge they were. Skeith, and Corbenik are the toughest to face in my opinion.

Very late to the party but....just beat Skeith today. Played Infection for the first time. Had Elk with a staff that summoned a high level creature...hit Skeith for about 500 damage a time. BlackRose was my meat shield and Kite healed and topped up Elks magic. The fight went quite well!! Until I accidentally let Elk die then I had to revive and buff him all over again!!!.

I really liked this game series. I did get a bit repetitive at times, and pretty tough. IT was fun, but had its flaws. Skeith was a pain to fight. I Think i Had to go level up before I faced him. Pretty bad. I think Cubia gave me some trouble too.

Weapons and armor for Heavyblades: Sakabatou(gotten through data drain), Thunder Gloves, Thunder Anklet, Spirit Armor, and Lightning Cap. Wavemasters: Jester Wand(I'm not sure, but I think it was data drain... Or found in a chest), Storm Bracer, Thunder Anklet, Lincoln Green, and Thunder Torque. Twinblades: Bom-Ba-Ye(gotten through data drain), and Twinblades can have about the same armor as your Heavyblade. You can buy Mutation at GameStop, or some other gaming store.
