Just got back from a 3 day backpacking trip in the Sierras and your tip worked flawlessly. One of the best sleeps I've had while backpacking, in a long time. Thanks again for the clever advice! Keep em coming!

So happy that you got a good sleep and that my hack helped. Wish I could have been there. Never hiked inthe Sierra. Thanks for letting me know.

I use silicone seam sealer to add grip to the underside of my sleeping mat! A few diagonal stripes add almost no weight to my kit and keep it in place under me at night

I was familiar with that method. It's a good one. But I don't have seam sealer. I DO have a lot of the rug mat scraps. Thanks for commenting.

I wonder if an adhesive like E6000 would work? Might try it. Thanks
@nvalley2 жыл бұрын
I bet it would! Or a silicone based sealer from the hardware store

Great idea! I move a lot in my sleep so any tips I can use to actually keep things in place are much appreciated

Talk about this sleeping pad, please.
@tomlovesdiy Жыл бұрын
The pad is a Libera 15 ounce inflatable. I bought it on Amazon in early 2022 for $37.45. No longer available. A claimed R-value 2.5. Seems about right. OK for a warm weather pad. Just big enough at 72” x 23” which is between "standard" (20") and "wide" (25") pads. It's a clone of the Klymit V. Not very good quality. Got a leak after about 7 nights use while on a hike. Patched it with repair tape, but I no longer trust it. So I now use my neavier, better quality Nemo Tensor with R4.2. Thanks for commenting!

Shoot, I just tossed some old T-shirts. I should have saved one for my pillow. I don't find that my pad slips downhill, but that I slip downhill on top of my pad because my sleeping bag is slick on the outside. Any suggestions for that?

I use a lightweight non-slip rug pad. Online for under $10. There are a couple different types. All are rubbery mesh. I've seen vids of people putting small spots of seal sealer on their pad's ridges. Another thing I haven't done but considered is adding a couple of straps like those used on quilts. More work... sewing and all. But you won't forget to pack it. Thanks for watching and your question. Tom

@@tomlovesdiy I'll try the non-slip rug pad or shelf liner idea on top of the pad, thanks!

I tried shelf liner. Didn't work for me.

Sorry it isn't good for you.. I checked the vid on multiple devices and audio seems OK to me. What device are you viewing on?

OK. Watched several of my videos on my big screen TV. I get it now. All of the vids I made inside have the same sound issue on the Tv but not on PC, iPhone or tablet. Appreciate your feedback. I will try to find a solution. BTW. I grew up in Michigan. Went to MSU. Miss it. Moved to North Carolina 25 years ago. NC summer is brutal. But winters are much better. Trade offs. Thanks Update. Bought an external microphone. Tested much better than internet mic. Will use it for recording.
