You just saved christmas :D Ive been modeling tail light surrounds for my dads Christmas present because there are no after market versions so we cant buy nice ones that arent broken. When I finally got my hands on an old one instead of pictures they had a bend in them I hadn't accounted for and I had no clue if I was going to have too start all over again. Excellent video! One of the better tutorials I've seen lately. Thank you. The tubes I wanted to curve didn't bend exactly like I wanted, but for now, it'll do. If I could Path better, I think that'd be my better option, but I'm still new to this.

Wow this was exactly what I needed. Works for complex shapes as well for those who might be in the same situation as me. Just need any curved/flat surface from which to unfold/refold. I got stuck having some issues with the initial sketch lines being over constrained, but once I got past that/realized it wasn't a dealbreaker for my model I breezed through the rest. Great tutorial!

had a few problems designing a complex model so i just settled by doing it flat, this method is goint to be of so much help to redesign it with the curvature I wanted from the start thanks a lot kind sir.

Just reverse the process.

@@jrhackney already found it, thank you! I just had to do the second part. Draw the curved line, make the sheet, unbend. Combine sheet and my model, then bend again and split bodies!😀
