You seem to be growing in influence, do you think it’s possible that we could rally and get ZOS to focus on pvp outside of cyrodil? It seems like they don’t care that there are pvp players who don’t like cyro such as myself. I would rather be able to play bg’s with friends, but that’s no longer a thing🙃

Hey Hack, very nice video man! This would help me a lot at times i started to play eso. Next beginner tips video u can maybe do some brief overview of crafting system, traits knowledge, transmuting and gear upgrade /what mats needed to get purle, gold gear etc/. I remember it took me quite time in past to get all crafting knowledge. New players might appreciate some guidance in this area too. Anyway keep up great work mate! 🙂 Cheers.

A tip from my side. If you reach level 10, go to Cyrodill (the PVP zone). Just do the basic tutorial there to unlock your "Alliance War" Skill tree. Go to "Assault" and choose the "Rapid Maneuver" skill. It gives your horse a 30% speed boost for 30 seconds. Really helps a lot to cover ground if you are new / low level.

Another beginer tip I wish I had known at the begining is to ignore most of the builds that you will see of your class online unless it specificlly says solo. The 'meta' builds are specifically designed to maximise damage and usually lack healing and shields as they are designed to be played in group content with a healer and tank. Your first character should have a little of everything and ideally they will probably do all the crafting skill lines and end up your crafter. You can have fun doing story quests right up to cp 160 and then you can make new toons specced specifically for damage, healing or tanking for doing dungeons with!
@Acw35
@Acw35 4 жыл бұрын
Well every pvp build is designed that way, so if you start off as a pvp player this wouldn’t apply to you. For that reason I suggest every new player start off with a pvp build
@loxley75

I mean to be fair there are a lot of solo builds online these days but there never used to be so I could never understand why all the 'best' builds seemed to ignore really useful skills and then later I couldnt understand why I hit like a wet noodle when i tried to do dungeons. Ah well, live and learn!

I agree, I think it’s better to experiment and find what works for you.
@spcbrass

Those solo builds will eventually do OK in the group content as well. Once you get them geared up properly and get some CP under your belt in the right places you can pull enough dps to perform OK in veteran content. I play exclusively solo builds and pull 35-40K plus am able to mitigate my own damage and self heal. It’s not ideal but it still works. Oddly only 1 of those builds works well in PVP though but it’s a matter of gear setup why the others don’t work so well in PvP.
@roqsteady5290
@roqsteady5290 4 жыл бұрын
Also, I reckon solo builds are good for doing dungeons with PUGs. It seems that most PUG healers/tanks are either incompetent or faking to avoid the long queue times, so you can't could on any help from them.

Oh quality of life tip for new players. Level up your first character by questing. Grinding that first character by mindless doleman zerging or running endless loops of zombie pulls is just not fun and you won’t learn very much about the game itself. Experience the stories, listen to the dialogue. Some of it is very good!

With enough CP under your belt, dragons are actually a great way to level up alts. For me, the level scaling on my necro had me dealing more damage in greens and blues than I was on my main in maxxed out equips and abilities. Just be aware of its attack patterns and avoid stuff (unless you're unlucky enough to get targetted by soul shatter, that'll mess you up regardless of what level you are). Gained about 20 levels in a couple of days just running with the spam groups in Southern Elswyr. Only drawback was having a crappy riding skill level and keeping up with the player swarms.

About the beginner zone thing. You'll start in the new expansion zone, but ESO tries to fix this by giving you a quest pretty early on about a benefactor. Take this quest and complete it and it will set you on the Molag Bal quest (where you go to the prison) and then it will eventually drop you off in the same starter zones you mentioned (based on your faction). I'd suggest doing this because it starts you on the main faction quest as well as getting you your first skyshard. At least in this way, the developers are trying to fix the overwhelming zone you get dropped in at the beginning.

You forgot #13: Always wear at least 1 of each type of armor, Light/ Medium/ Heavy, while you level up, the earlier the better. Each of these armors have their own skill line and they level up by simply wearing them. Once you've leveled them all up, you can then mix the armor you wear to suit which armor passives you'd like to use. A popular one is getting a % boost to your resources, Health/ Magic/ Stamina, depending on how many types of armor you wear. So if you wear at least 1 of each, you'll get the maximum benefit.

Do you still get set bonuses
@poopikins
@poopikins 3 жыл бұрын
@@zargle5924 It's more free now to choose what you want to wear. Instead of requiring 5 pieces, a lot of passives are just % increases depending on how many pieces of one set you're wearing. There are positives and negatives to each armor, and it just makes more sense overall.

Great list! I've been playing ESO for years now, but even I learned stuff here! Other tips I would add: 1 - Join the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild as soon as you can, and put a skill point each into Intimidating Presence (Fighters Guild Skill Line) and Persuasive Will (Mages Guild Skill Line.) Both of these can save you soooo much effort on many quests in the game, as you can just hit the (Persuade) or (Intimidate) dialog option to skip whole stages of a quest. 2- Crafting is awesome! Not only does it enable you to create your own gear sets (there are specialist crafting tables all over the worlds, and some offer better bonuses than the dropped world sets,) but if you've learned all the crafts, it's a quick and easy way to make gold from the Daily Crafting Writs, and get some nice stuff like crafting equipment, items, motifs, recipes and all sorts. The amount of gold you can earn from completing all seven crafting writs each day goes up as your level does as well; once you hit Champion Level, you can make 600+gold from just one crafting writ. So, at that level, doing all seven writs, that's an easy 4,500gold for about 5-10 minutes work. 3 - As long as you can keep your Health stat above 20,000 points, you'll be fine for most of the time, no matter what character class you're playing. This means you can freely stack up in Stamina and Magicka instead; no need to pour a ton of attribute points into Health, even if you're a tank. Just put in enough to keep you around 20,000, and then stick the rest in the other two, which you WILL need more. 4 - You can always use crafted food to boost your stats up too; the purple recipes are the best, since they buff ALL attributes for 2 hours. Learning Provisioning to a high level is worth it simply for that - and, fortunately, Provisioning is also one of the fastest and easiest crafts to level up. Or of course you can just buy purple-level food from Guild Stores.

@@pietroroberto6114 uh… no. There are many people who are playing an mmo for the first time or are playing a videogame for the first time. So it’s not something they will be able to figure out so easily. Many people who mainly play games like COD or Overwatch would never even think about the fact that you can restore resources with heavy attacks if they don’t pay attention to their magicka and stamina all the time, some might even think heavy attacks are not as efficient as light attacks. There are many times that a fight can end before any of your resources get to 50% on the beginner’s area so there would be no reason to worry about that. Others could think using a two handed sword that increases stamina would be more effective for them as a sorcerer that has a lot of magicka and little stamina. Considering that you have never played Subnautica, would you be able to do things such as how to create a self sufficient base or the best way to use the space of the Cyclops(submarine) efficiently without watching a video?
@pietroroberto6114
@pietroroberto6114 3 жыл бұрын
@@jinkpotato7575 Ha ha ha. Yes. I actually am finishing Subnautica for the first time and created not one but two self sufficient bases. All by myself through trial and error :D The only thing I checked online was water purification machine's production rate to calculate how many of them I will need for my second base. I could have stood by it with a clock and measure it myself. That is exactly what I would do and what I was doing before the Internet was available. The only reason I checked it is the fact that it took significantly less time. With ESO it is different, because you pick up pieces of information all the time by playing and having fun and when you need something specific you can either quickly test it or ask in guild chat. Unless you want some very specific, obscure piece of information like for example: "will Blessed Armor set actually make me invincible for those advertised in tooltip 5 seconds?". Then you have to make a little more effort in testing it: grab a friend/guildie, explain the tests and run a series of tests. Or you can just use it and see how it behaves.
@jinkpotato7575
@jinkpotato7575 3 жыл бұрын
@@pietroroberto6114 Well, I guess you’re right. If you don’t know something you can always ask a friend or guild mate but if you are playing and see on KZbin a video with a title like that it is going to call your attention. There are things that you might not have noticed during your play through, I play with my father and it is one of the first games he is playing so videos like this can heavily assist him as he doesn’t have a lot of free time and I suck at explaining things and that goes for a lot other people who don’t have the time to even think about such details and want to progress through the game(basically casuals). I’m not calling you a sweat or anything, I understand that you might like to learn about the game without the help of the internet but there are people who find the process of finding out such things boring and prefer to spend 15 mins to learn it all. Going through trial and error is pretty fun but for some it might be boring.🙂

As a more experienced player, this video was really well done, so great job! Two things I would like to add would be that blocking an attack also triggers the ult gain buff. This means if you are not quite comfortable getting in light attacks you can block an attack for the same effect. I found this out doing the trial Halls of Fabrication and standing and blocking within the spinney blades right before a boss fight. The other thing was changing your monster AOE color to something other than red. You can make it fun or just something you know you wont miss. That's under Settings/Gameplay/Enemy Color. You can change the brightness as well.

Setting up the camera angles and repositioning the screen offset is actually really useful to ensure that it 'just works' for you - I also see a lot of 'How to' do certain Bosses, Dungeons runs and Trial runs vids and try to learn stuff from them, but nowhere have I seen anyone explain exactly how to adjust the detail on screen, the first time I was persuaded to join a Trial to screen became so messy that it was very hard to see what people were talking about (ie positioning to avoid a specific mechanic for example). Making it clearer would be much easier to see what it happening in the same way you see a clear vid explaining the mechanics by an expert player. As a brand new player this info is not known or made known easily either. Love the info vids, as much as they may be basic for most, for a beginner they are invaluable!! Keep up this great work. I always hated that the game throws you into a new "starting" location with every DLC because I like my playthroughs in a somewhat chronological order. If you want to play the main storyline, you specifcally have to travel to Vulkhel Guard (Aldmeri), Daggerfall (... Daggerfall) or Davons Watch (Ebonheart) and look for a hooded figure who then proceeds to throw you into the original Coldharbour tutorial that starts the main story. At least it was that way last time I made a charakter when Elsweyr was released, hope I'm not mistaken now.

This actually goes back to the one Tamriel (?) update prior to Morrowind. Prior to that update, each zone was a specific level range that was dependent on your faction, and you could only visit the later zones if your level was high enough (and you had unlocked the story to that point - Cadwell’s silver and gold.) you would also only bump into other players of your own faction. Then they released the update, which was designed to give the game a more open-world feel like Skyrim. They merged several things including veteran levels and CP, as well as all faction maps, which were now accessible by all players of all factions. And all maps were now level-scaled so that technically you could do the content of any zone at any time.

@@MapTheMissing that depends on your faction, I can give you dc because i have done it a bazillion times. But you will start out in a small island when you follow that quest it will take you to the next zone. These three islands are Bleakrock, Stros M'kai (sorry for spelling), and Khenarthis Roost. These will depend on your alliance so it will vary in that respect but past the one tamriel you can go to either one and start each story. I'd love just an in depth run down of the whole settings menu. Tons of stuff in there that is super useful, never mentioned, and not really labeled in a way that's intuitive or obvious. For example, "enemy brightness" can make WAY MORE VISIBLE the red areas you don't want to stand in. Prevent Attacking Innocents is a nice one to have on. Auto/quick casting targeted spells is another if that's your thing.

Just started playing a week ago, basically at the end of the tutorial you end up in a room with portals to every starter zone and dlc zone and you are free to choose whichever you want. Fortunately at this point I was like er OK is there a base story arc, and eventually found out that there is if you pick your faction zone portal. The NPC does kind of give you an overview of each portal zone, but should really advise new players that if this is their first visit to ESO to choose the faction portal.

Best thing for new players to know about to make the game easier is farming gold, researching traits, and getting writs. I suggest you look up vids on that. You will be able to max out storage, build your own armor sets, and buy armor sets you want from Guild Traders. I wish I would have know this, because for the first 6 months paying I used random armor with no extra benefit and had no clue I could buy from guild traders I wasn't in a guild with. I basically locked myself into one or two guilds to get supplies and it was very hard. I would also suggest being a little social, as I was not. They purposely make you be social to get the best armor and weapons.

Great video! I'd add a few more things. Maybe a follow up video? Also lots of other great ideas in the comments! 1) Skill Leveling: The fact that there is a difference between the skill line, the specific skill and skill morphs is critical to creating the build you want. 2) Armor Leveling: To echo another comment add armor leveling. You must equip THREE pieces of each weight of armor to open the skill line but afterwards you only need to keep one piece of a particular armor weight equipped to continue leveling that armor skill line. Also more pieces of a particular armor worn = faster leveling that armor skill line. 3) Travel to Player: Join a big guild just so you can travel to guild members who are in a zone you have not been to yet. Really saves time. Open guild tab, go to the guild roster, find somebody in the zone you want to travel to, right click and choose Travel to Player. Free teleports ;-) 4) No Auction House: There is no central auction house. If you are shopping for rare or expensive items you will want to visit player traders located in each of the major cities of each zone. This is a big deal if you are transitioning from WoW or other games with a central economy. 5) Crafting for gold: Doing daily crafting writs is a great way to make some fast gold when just starting out.

Isnt it better for beginner not to travet to starter zone, but to trigger main quest with Cold Harbour? It will give some understanding of the main quest line and then drop to the starter zone. It the very-very start of the game. And also for me not taking prologue quests, though it is very hard, until you finish main quest is a good tip. a) if you do prologues first then it my be very hard to undertand what's going on in that world and why people don`t recognize you XD b) taking (and not doing) Elsweyr prologue blocks main quest line (maybe they fixed it with Graymoor, but I doubt)

One tip I want to mention myself as a level 13 character who hasn't even unlocked my weapon swaps on pc yet: If you download add ons, some of them may require other add ons to function, I had no idea this was a thing and had to figure it out the hard way. For example I browsed steam's forums and found a link to an add on manager called Minion and I wanted to start with one small feature: sky shard icons on the map. I downloaded the add on and then it appeared on the game in red text, it said it needed "libraries" to work. I had no idea what that was, from my understanding it's similar to a bike. If you want a bike you'll need wheels and a chain and a set of handlebars etc. to have a proper bike. So in order to get your "bike" to work, you need the components for it to work. I had to download the proper libraries from the Minion client and now the sky shard add on works perfectly, it even has a proximity feature similar to vanilla icons on the overhead compass. idk if this counts as some kind of third party shady thing, I'm just trying to be helpful since modding is a big part of pc gaming and I'm hoping this reaches anyone who's stuck on level 0 like I am

Another tip! If you are a really new player, take your time and level up your skill lines. Dont worry about missing out content since content is scaled to u, rather than having to skip zones because u outlevel them. Also, sell white gear, and decon greens, blues and even purples that u arent wearing. It makes ur levelling slower since u hav to go back to the crafting stations in town or back in your homes, but honestly, this is really helpful if you want to have enough mats and level up your crafting level for that character.

Great video, thank you for sharing! What I like to do for the horse riding lessons; I load 5 first lessons into stamina, then some into speed, then carrying capacity [the last one is especially useful if you don't have ESO+ craft bag] I prioritize stamina because with its increase I can endure more hits before being dismounted, which is really useful if I'm in a hurry and running through the wilderness, not wanting to fight some mobs. 5 points is enough to get me away from pretty much anything on a normal sprint, even without the speed upgrade.

Watch out for all of the starter/prologue quests once you get into alliance capital cities as well. They appear with the same main quest icons as the particular zone you happen to be working on. Suddenly you may be whisked away to Orsinium, Vvardenfell or Summerset and following a whole other quest line completely.
@spcbrass

Oh and along those same lines there are prologue quests that can freeze the main quest line of the game. “The Tharn Speaks” will get locked if you have “The Demon Weapon” open because Abnar Tharn will literally be in the same location for both quests at the same time and the game doesn’t allow that so it keeps his main quest marker hidden. I’ve heard there is another quest locked in the same manner. Sai Sahan/Dragonhold related.

Really great stuff! Picked up most of these (slowly) over the six weeks or so since starting, but completely missed that two handed weapons count double in an item set - that is going to make a big difference to my item set planning! Also thanks for clarifying the difference between dodge/roll and block! I had thought that I must be mistiming dodge/roll, because it works totally differently to how it works in Guild Wars 2 (where rolling always stops damage). I've been having some problems in dungeons understanding how to mitigate damage from bosses and seem to get one shotted some times, judging by the post mortem reports (in normal random dungeons). And I can't quite figure out what is happening. Obviously red circles are not good - but it would be really useful if you could do a video on the different damage indicators in the game and how to counter them - the open world (including delves and public dungeons) is a bit of a cakewalk, but group dungeons (some of them) and world bosses do need some mechanics, I think - and I'd like to try the harder, veteran, content soon.

Joining up to 5 player made guilds 2 - Guild Vendors, not global like the auction house in most other MMO's, does your guild hire a trader? and if yes they can be accessed from a banker in any city, you don't have to travel to them. 3 - Selling vs crafting/deconstruction. Leveling crafting is NOT by creating but rather by destroying things. Researching traits and how that gets up to 30 days so focus on needed ones earlier than later.

Great tips, here's 1 more, the best food for beginners is gain by completing the Orzorga recipe quest line in Orsinium, you need ~ recipe quality rank 4 and ~ recipe improv rank 1 to make the food, the food itself has no set level, it levels with your character, the two recipes are max health/mag recovery and max health/stam recovery. ps, max health/mag recovery is also one of the best tank foods

A remark on the quest markers: The big one is for the big story line of current zone. Also the alliance story line starts in the starter zone and guides you from zone to zone in your alliance. They will have that big zone quest marker. But if you do not go to the starter zone and begin there you will doing the zone quests in a different order which could be confusing story wise. The main story with the prophet, coldharbour and all the bliss does not count as zone quest. Therefore it has a normal boring quest marker. Although it's a long story.

I never noticed until I found out today that champion points have diminishing returns. I just went 100 damage 100 regen/penetration and couldn't understand why you would possibly ever chose anything else. Also didn't know off balance attacks restore double stam/mag.

10:02 This must be an adjusted quality of life change, when i started playing in 2016 the WAS NOT the case. A 2handed weapon had to be paired with 4 pieces of armor to get the 5piece perk. I just got back on this game 2 months ago and knowing this will make building an armor set with jewelry sets even more volitile!

I think this changed in 2019 - maybe 2018? Many players were used to the old way and didn't realize it changed.

good guide, i watched a few "beginner guides" today and a lot are super simple things everyone who has played a mmo or rpg before would know already. This guide was a lot more informative and the tips are very useful, good job! One thing I learned from one of the simple guides that was not in this video is that "mundus stones" are a thing. Stones you find in the wilderness that give your character a permanent buff when used.

As someone who started playing barely 4 weeks ago, I'm immensely impressed with the pace of information supplied in this game. In my opinion, they perfectly walk that fine line between an overwhelming amount of information/mechanics and too simple to be fun. They made the general quest mobs easy enough to allow me to focus on deciding on/experimenting with which skills I wanted to pick without completely crushing me for not knowing the ins and outs of interrupts and heavy-attack-blocks. Then by the time I started feeling comfortable with my skills and wanting to hit harder things, I had enough focus available to notice the indicators for the advanced mechanics and found a whole new world of complexity and refinement that left me feeling like the hero my character is developing into. Absolutely superb. That's not even counting the fact that I was lucky enough to have my friend recommend the faction with what will likely be my favorite zones/stories in the game (AD, because cherry blossoms and intrigue). I honestly haven't had this much fun with the gameplay/story of a game since Wrath of the Lich King.

Another thing I bumped into regarding the 25 quest limit: Crafting Writs count toward that limit. I was doing all seven available writs every day to get my Crafting levels up, but if I already had more than 18 quests in my journal I couldn't pick them all up at once. I had to go do a few writs, turn them in, then run back to the writ board to pick up the rest. All it really cost me was a few more minutes at the start of each game day, but I wanted to get the daily stuff done so I could get on with the actual game. Why make the grind take any longer than it needs to be? Oh, one other thing: to see what a Guild trader has to sell, open their store and press 'R' (for Start Search). It doesn't list their wares automatically. I played for months thinking I couldn't buy anything from them because their inventory looked empty (except for my own guild's trader, which only showed the Guild tabard.)

I was really hoping for a bard subclass or skill line. I could imagine abilities flavoured after music. Maybe a horn you can blow to make people around afraid of you, or a flute you play to make people dance around you, acting as a stun or something, or a war drum that would grant you some benefits, like maybe increasing your stamina/ magicka recovery or granting you some physical and spell resistance for a limited time. Or have a damage shield like the sorcerer's hardened ward in the form of floating music notes floating around you. As a support you could choose friendlies for some other music notes to reflect, working like the warden's netch, or increase healing/ damage to that target if it was an enemy. I'd love to see something like the fury spell in Skyrim being implemented in ESO, maybe in PvP this would work as some sort of shared damage, say toggling it on and any damage to you may be halved and shared with a friendly close to your enemy. So much potential!

All fairly easy to learn if you observe what changes when you do certain things, also helps to have skill, attributes, and ult number on. damage scaling did go through a few less obvious things, but if you hover over your attributes in the character section of the menu it will tell you max magicka does more than provide sustain.
