Post HADES 2 edit: Congratulations to the happy couple on their second kid :D If you're going to whine in the comments about how Hades was portrayed as less evil than the original: save your time and go support the versions you like. I have comment notifs on and will delete yours apparently people outside the fandom are watching this so: yes this is from a game, it's called Hades, you're spoiling yourself on basically the ending of the main plotline. hope you enjoy your stay

The fact that Zagreus subtly expresses separation anxiety when Persephone leaves to visit Olympus, and then when he's relieved that she's back Hades ALSO confesses subtly to having separation anxiety... for one thing it's real cute that they end up bonding over how much they both love Persephone, but also it's such a good little detail to show how her leaving the first time scarred both of them at least a little and that they actually struggle to trust that she won't leave again. Really adds a depth to her character and her story and makes her a lot less than perfect in the eyes of the narrative.

@brookepreaseau7337
@brookepreaseau7337 Жыл бұрын
@@biggsdarklighter0473Macaria’s domain is blessed death which I can understand the potential overlap with Thanatos since he handles nonviolent death. From what I understand from my previous research, which I’ll admit now might be rusty: Macaria is more of a psychopomp for those who were throughly innocent (like young children) or throughly “blessed”, like those who lived throughly fulfilled lives, or those who, for a lack of a better term, are saintly. She would be the ones to transport beloved/non hypocritical priests and priestesses or innocent youth lost too soon, or your most charitable/honestly good member of your community. She transports the truly beloved/blessed of souls (the definition of such tends to fluctuate but ultimately means they were beyond argument/reproach on their character or positive contributions to the world) She transports those who ultimately deserve to basically skip the Hades line to go straight to either Elysium or, in most sources I find about her, the isles/islands of the blessed. Basically she’s “may you go in blessedness, instead of suffering and utter destruction”. Sometimes she does overlap with Thanatos but they differ when it comes to the soul they transport. There are plenty of horrible people who manage to die nonviolently and there are plenty of good souls who die senselessly to violence. An example I’ll pull out of my ass would be Robin Williams. I’d imagine he’d be a good contender for Macaria. I googled him, I’ve heard nothing but glowing stories about the man and I admired his work as well. I had to actively search for controversy that might tarnish that eligibility. You know those memes where the grim reaper is taking the soul of a dog and telling them they were the best of boys/girls after the dog asks if they did good? That would probably be Macaria. Hopefully this gives you a good idea of what Macaria does. EDIT: Another way to define Macaria is as a death Goddess who handles souls who require more care and kindness than Thanatos can provide.

@brookepreaseau7337
@brookepreaseau7337 Жыл бұрын
@@UltimaDoombotMK1 I am honestly unsure about that…. from what I remember think she’s more along the lines of the children or long suffering but good people (illness or otherwise). Basically, she’s deals in the souls who deserve/need more care and kindness than what can already be found with Thanatos. The heroes you mentioned I imagine probably wouldn’t need such care. I gave plenty of examples of what I think roughly covers what’s she covers in a previous comment. Also being war heroes and the context of their deaths might put them under the Keres (embodiment of violent death) domain. Macaria is kinda difficult to pin point because there are no myths about her and her domain is shaky to fully translate/succinctly explain. It isn’t helped by the fact that Thanatos and the Keres by the factual coverage of their domains (nonviolent death and violent death respectively) don’t leave a lot of room for Macaria pin point her domain in an easily understood way. There is a reason people wonder if Thanatos and Macaria essentially have the same job or overlap. I gave my rough idea as to what she’s does and who she handles in a previous comment. Yeah those heroes you mentioned could be argued as contributed good to the world but remember Macaria seems to be more of a Peaceful kind of death Goddess. I also mentioned the meaning of Blessed death is a pain in the ass to explain. The term “Blessed” could be used towards specific people, like those in the priesthood or exceptionally morally good people, or used generally like most/all can be called “the blessed ones” in death. Let’s not even touch canonical timelines with gods because I have no clue whether Macaria even existed (conceptually or otherwise) at the time of the Trojan War. That’s one of the difficulties of researching more minor gods/goddesses, they either have no surviving myths and have only simple information on them or they likely were just more easily “understood” in the past than in the present. In Ancient Greece, depending on regional worship, people probably just knew/understood what Macaria did. There is cultural context or information missing to us in the present. While we struggle to define her because Greek mythology is very old and naturally sometimes things are lost to time or in translation. Hell, maybe I’m wrong and Macaria WAS only known as the daughter of Hades and goddess of Blessed death in Ancient Greece and there’s nothing else outside of the Eleusinian mysteries. Fun Fact: if you google Macaria you’ll also find results of the daughter of Heracles also named Macaria.

I could really connect to the whole aspect of "Love each other but both are too stubborn to admit it", because for most of my life that's how it was with my father and I; which made the eventual resolution of Hades and Zagreus beginning to work on connecting to one another and patching their relationship all the more sweet to me, as I saw it as a mirror to how my Dad and I began to grow closer as I aged and we worked on our relationship. Do you know the name of thos other woman?

I love that in modern Hollywood movies they always wanna show Hades as a bad dude but hes legitimately one of the few caring gods in the entire pantheon. For others specifically, like hes one of the few who didnt cheat on his spouse wasnt overly wrathful and didnt just do anything specifically to cause suffering. I like to think he wanted to try and keep people alive simply because he didn't want to be bothered by spirits and people trying to get said spirits. Even then his challenges to get people back may have been difficult to even get to (your going to the king of the underworld to beg for something it should be difficult) understandably it was easier to get out with your reward

I interpreted it like he was more exasperated with people constantly trying to barge into his office demanding people back like he's the bad guy in all this despite the fact that the moirai were in charge of people's lifespans and fate. So he made it purposefully difficult to see him to cut down on that number but people were still bugging him on his lunchbreaks or in the bathroom. Heck he even gave Orpheus the simple challenge of walking back the way he came without looking back so he'd finally leave him alone, and Orpheus still cocked it up.

The fact that there isn’t a voice line of Zeus telling Zag that he is Persephone’s father and that the reason he sent her to the underworld was so Hera wouldn’t throw another fit says something about his game.Zag has enough “family drama” to deal with he doesn’t need to unpack that

I like how Persephone's design change when she's in the Underworld. When on the surface she has a green dress and fairly normal Olympian look that fits her title of goddess of agriculture and vegetation. But then in the underworld, she ditch her green dress for a black one and her plants imegery for skulls, fully embracing her title of Queen of the Underworld by dressing in the same style and color palette as Hades himself.

Hades telling his son that his temper is a bad frame of reference, is most correct Wanna talk about top 3 anger issue people on olimpus? Hera (by definition, the first yandere in the world) Aphrodite (try telling her you're not interested in romance. You won't live to tell the tale) And Persephone Oh, sure she may seem innocent, but the thorns on this flower cut soul, not just skin. She's referred to as dread Persephone for a reason Edit: Yes all of you who have responded to this are most correct All Gods in Greece had anger issues But; and I can't stress this enough as sexist as this was of Greece and its Gods, Female Gods were usually the ones with worse anger issues, compared to the male Gods I mean, I know hell have no fury, like woman scorn, but come on ancient Greece

Honestly, Persephone probably was not even considering having any more kids until the moment Zagreus mentioned it. Man probably accidentally lead to his own sister's conception. And how the reveal would go... Probably something like "Zagreus, would you come over here please?" "What is it you need mother? And what's that you're holding there?" "Well, remember that time you asked me about wanting to have more kids?" "Yes, you told me you weren't planning on having any more. But why being that up so suddenly?" "Well, once you mentioned it, the thought just wouldn't leave my head. Your father was rather hesitant when I brought it up, but after reminding him how great of a son he's raised already..." "What? Wait, no! You didn't! You couldn't! Y-You actually mean to tell me-" "Zagreus, meet your new baby sister."
