Hades pretty much acted as an equalizer for the underworld. He gave it order and a set of standards. As far as I'm aware his most "evil" act was him kidnapping Persephone and even then, depending on which edition you read, the kidnapping idea came from Zeus and Hades was originally going to talk with her.
@J.Valentine10315 жыл бұрын
Hades is not the Greek version of Satan. He is the ruler of the underworld, pretty much his task was to rule over the souls of the dead, determine if said souls went to Tartarus (Greek version of Hell) or Elysium (Greek version of Heaven), and made sure that the dead stayed dead.
@robertnomok97505 жыл бұрын
Its not correct. Elysium does not exist. Only Tartarus awaited after death. And it was not hell just non existance. Elysium was a later concept added centures after just to sway morals of people. Because original faith was too depressing and promoted hedonystic lifestyle. Its basicly that same thing with Chrisitanity. Hell, Satan and rest of fairytales were added at later stages to promote indulgences and other merch for sell. In original versionsno demons or hell existed at all.

To answer you question on Hades, the reason they he's considered "bad" is mostly due to Disney influence. He was known to be a Stern and intimidating God due to being the king of the underworld but he wasn't particularly ambitious and stayed within his station. The main controversy he partially caused was due to his love for his wife Persephone. Also as a side note, the little ghost dudes you are seeing around should be shades. They are the people who have neither done a particular amount of good or bad in life. They are just set to wander around the underworld for all eternity (or until their souls expire/reincarnate depending on what you read) instead of going to the Greek version of heaven or hell.
@robertnomok97505 жыл бұрын

@Sightless_Seeker Prometheus. Which version do you want to go with? The kind hearted, wise Titan or the one who stole the secret of fire to get back at Zeus for Cronos? What about Typhon and Echidnae, the parents of all monsters? Epimetheus who robbed man of the gifts of nature (and in one story, helped Pandora open the box)? The Titans were so removed from humanity as to not care for them. The gods(who could be argued were also Titans) created man or cared enough to occassionally offer them a bit of help.

Well, as an Australian born Greek who was inundated with Greek mythology growing up, Hades was just the keep of the dead. Some parts of his realm were for people who were evil/bad/immoral/whatever, and some parts were for people that were for pious/good/moral/whatever, and there were places for people in between. As for the gods themselves, none of them where good or bad/evil. Rather, they had very human personalities and could be rather nice and charming or incredibly ego centric dicks. That's just from memory, but I think it covers the bases.

There's a version of the story that says Persephone hid in Hades' realm because Demeter was too demanding of her to do her job and all. Hades' was like cool with her bunking with him and they ended up liking each other a lot. Which pissed off Demeter to no end. Zeus decided then that Persephone should take time between her mother and her husband. This version is rarely known but it is there with a lot more _'hilarious'_ stories connected with it. Like how Cerberus was basically just a goofball puppy, Charon accidentally taking days off and all that. Also, it has stories about Persephone's and Hades' kids. Yes, they had kids. Several according to some. So yeah, there's not just one story of how Persephone and Hades ended up together.

Zeus (God of Gods and Lightning), Poseidon (God Of The Sea), and Hades (God Of The Underworld) are all brothers and sons of Kronos, the titan. Kronos, after learning one of his children will overpower him from a soothsayer, began eating his children after they were born. Zeus and his brothers were no different. However, Zeus was able to overpower him specifically because he was born as such a powerful being. However, after Zeus and his brothers were freed from their fate, Zeus tricked Hades. Hades was forced to rule over the Underworld, watching over the abandoned souls of the mortal living. Hades took this to heart and resented his brother for his trickery but continued on with his rule because Zeus had cursed Hades so that he may never leave the black abyss that the Underworld is. Hades has never been a good or bad god in Greek mythology, he is simply an overseer of the souls left behind. As a result, Hades now secludes himself in the Underworld, only to have his wife Persephone as company. The original God Of War games got me really into Greek mythology and the new one got me into Nordic mythology. But it was so interesting I couldn't stop learning about it and I love everything to do with both the stories, and the gods.
