As regards the bus service from Carlisle to boness on solway. 4 buses a day and none on a Sunday. Taxi fare is £35 one way

Thanks Stefan, I do work hard filming on trail, thinking about different shots but also what to say (or not to say) to keep it flowing. Music really lifts the footage but editing always takes ages 🙄 Tricking the bullocks really worked! 🤠

Pity you didn't get to Tullie House - opposite the castle - it is Carlisle's main museum and has a great section on the city's Roman history - sets you up for the walk. Although Carlisle is small with regards to it's built-up area and population, for the boundary area it covers, it is one, if not the, biggest in the UK. I did this walk last year, my first thru hike. Went with a walking holiday company and walked over 6 days - hotels every night, luggage transfer, guide (really good as they point out so much that you can easily miss)

Hi Justin. Just a quick enquiry. Parking the car in Carlisle. Time did you start from. Bowness. And. The main question. How did you get there from Carlisle. Looks a bit of a treck via bus. Early and a walk. But fine. If that’s what it is Paul 👌

Hi Paul, Parking is cheap and easy to leave it for several days. Official Carlisle parking website.... www.carlisle.gov.uk/Residents/Car-Parkingnew/Car-Parks There are 2 car parks very close to the trail. One behind the castle, the other called The Sands which is where I parked. Easiest way to pay is online via MiPermit. The Sands car park ref is 712006 and you just input your licence number. Sat & Sun are free. Weekdays costs only about £4 per day, but only £2.80 per day if you pay before 8.30am or so. It's called the Early Bird tariff. You have to remember to pay each morning (set a reminder on your phone). Bus 93 or 93A from Carlisle bus station to Bowness-on-Solway costs about £7-8. cumbria.gov.uk/buses/93/ Very few buses per day. I caught the earliest one at about 6.30am and it took an hour. Double check weekend services, might not be running. Otherwise it's a taxi 15 miles. 👍
