Been restoring my own barn find for the last 10 years. But I was my dads barn and truck. 58 Chevy Apache that I have taken down to the bare frame and every nut bolt and bushing is new. Just dropped an LS1 in it and almost ready to fire it up. It’s a total hot rod , can’t wait to start driving it.

I've watched Tom and this series of shows for a while now, and he does a great job restoring my interest in old cars, not that I'll ever be able to afford one. Every ep that the woody has been in, I kept hoping he'd peel out like he just did today. FINALLY, and it was worth the wait!!

@John Doe I imagine that was the video I just got done watching. The comments were shut off. Stay tuned for when that hoarder dies and they auction everything off. Their kids will not want to be burdened with millions of dollars of cars but they'll take the cash for sure.
@Bonzi_Buddy
@Bonzi_Buddy 4 жыл бұрын
@John Doe Surprisingly that rarely happens. What is common is families selling vintage iron for scrap to clear the land so they can sell it.
@Bonzi_Buddy
@Bonzi_Buddy 4 жыл бұрын
@John Doe There was a mopar yard west of Springfield Missouri. Their phone number was 800-426-HEMI. The owner croaked, kids had vintage mopars crushed when steel prices were high. I think one of those big parts companies now owns that number (Paddock or something). There is a 70 or 71 Dodge Challenger with 440 motor rotting along side a house I have passed for three decades. The guy is no closer to restoring it now than he was back then. It is just rotting away... If I ever think that is bad, I just think of the idiot on that one video that had over 100 cars rotting like that.
@Bonzi_Buddy
@Bonzi_Buddy 4 жыл бұрын
@John Doe There were lists with those vehicles on it. It wasn't too bad, but there were definitely some question marks why a few of those cars would be turned in. Jeep Cherokee fans were really upset though...they crushed those things by the thousands.
@Bonzi_Buddy
@Bonzi_Buddy 4 жыл бұрын
@John Doe They had gas guzzler mileage requirements, but as with most government programs...fraud and incompetence were rampant. It's so nice to see an XK roadster that still has painted wire wheels as it is most likely to have had originally. The XK150 FHC was more of a cruiser than an out-and-out sports car, it got wider and longer (and heavier) to appeal more to the US buyer as the earlier cars, especially the roadsters, were rather tight for interior space, so it's more likely that it had the (still optional) chrome wire wheels from new. With the values of them now, that XK roadster would probably buy a very nice house even in that condition, the 150 would be less being a less desirable model, but it could still be up towards $100k having been in one person's ownership for 40 years and it will very likely swallow that and more to put it right...

Great video. My grandpa had a 1966 Ford f-250 camper special identical to that one. He drove it from 1966 to 2002 when he had a stroke and couldn't drive anymore. Seeing that truck sure brought back some memories.

In the late 90's my daily driver was a ford f250 just like that except it had a 460 and four wheel drive. I loved that ol truck. I got rid of it because of a smoking deal on a 67 camaro that ended up being my daily for the next 8 years. I still browse around for a truck like that every once in a while.

Love the old Ford Truck! please show more of them, That 66 F250 camper special is Holly Green and Wimbledon white. It has the super cool West Coast Jr. Mirrors and a Padded dash with all the anodized aluminum bright trim. The ranch bumper is not a factory piece, but likely the dealer installed it. The 352 and New Process 435 4 speed transmission were plenty of power for these trucks. My 66 had the NP435 4 speed transmission, short style side bed, a DANA 60.2 five lug rear end and the same West Coast Jr. mirrors. It was Springtime Yellow with all the trim etc. Glad the owner is keeping it! I have had more than 10 of the 61-66 trucks. YOU can fix the steering wheel to column gap by loosening the bolts under the dash at the firewall there is a strap type clamp to undo, then pull it up to close the gap! you might have to tighten the lower bearing on the shaft. As always, Great Video!

I grew up with some cars like these. My Dad was over protective about them and never fixed them. When he did let us drive them when I was in my twenties I had already driven more impressive machinery and was as impressed as I had been as a kid. So the lesson is get them running really well without any foibles so your children can drive them and be brave and let then drive them as soon as possible. Otherwise we'll all end up like the guy in this film.

I have seen pristine condition new new 20 to 25 year old cars in the junk yard probably from a retired person who can no longer drive or moving into a retirement village with no one wanting to own or care for it. It breaks your heart seeing an otherwise near new condition car in the Junk Yard which is not loved because it is not an SUV and/or does not have touch screen and apple car play.

Back in 1969 in Medford, Oregon I had the opportunity to buy an XK 140 for $500! It had had a minor engine wiring fire and the owner (a friend of mine) was exaspirated and fed up and just wanted to get rid of it. True, it needed paint and the leather interior was kinda ratty, buy it ran great until the wiring issue. Being a kid in college I didn't have an extra $20 let alone $500!!! OH! "The ones that gotta way." That's what dreams/nightmares are made of.

5 generations of tranquility and open spaces is maintained. If you open the doors of America to uncontrolled immigrants and refugees of the wrong kind that will be gone in half a generation. More than likely turned into a highly dense concrete jungle (too house the influx) where corrupt politicians, town planners and other people in trusted positions gave the approval and soon old historic areas with cultural significance wiped out and imposition of their overseas values. Touchy subject and probably left of what the video shows but still a reality that I hope you guys appreciate and protect as these topics and issues creep up in silence until it is too late.

Tom: If you don't buy both of them and restore them as part of your series, you will regret it for the rest of your natural life. Many people will volunteer their time. You could also draft Edd China, the Brit who is the best and most knowledgable mechanic on English and other European cars I ever saw on a TV series. Back in the day, my cousin acquired an XK-120, an XK-140 and an early XKE. He loved Jaguars but had no mechanical aptitude at all, while I had the aptitude and time on my hands, and was drafted to work on his toys. But he's been dead for about 34 years, and his cars are - well, who knows? Don't let these Traverse City jewels slip out of your hands.
