He hinted at it in the last video, but now Davin can announce the news of moving into a new shop. The Redline Rebuild projects and ambitions just outgrew the single-stall garage that had served us so well for just over two years. When the chance came up to move into a shop with more floor space, we couldn't pass it up.

Looks good Davin, a place for everything and everything in it`s place. Love seeing the `50 Chevy running and back on the road. Love the redline rebuild series, such cool vehicles. Quite the setup, should be way more productive. Keep up the good work, wish I could work with you. This 62yr old shadetree wrencher is a bit jealous..lol, I have worked on my own junk since I was 16 on my back, no lift, just to keep it running. My daily is a `91 Silverado with 300,000 on the clock and still going. Stay safe, God Bless.

That is some serious investment. The Hagerty crew, especially through the media folks, have really inspired and encouraged me to get more hands-on with my personal fleet, and I appreciate the continued focus on demystifying things and making maintenance and repair items more approachable. I don't have aspirations to be a real mechanic but realistically need to become more self-reliant and responsible for the vehicles under my care because some of these things are a bit of a dying art. And of course any money saved on labor is money that can be otherwise put into the vehicle(s). I'm really excited to see what you guys have in mind for the future. Sounds like a detour into the world of shiny cars may be in order. I like it all.
@Hagerty

Thanks Chris! You've been with us almost from the start of all this car fixing stuff! How's that GTO running these days? Once we can travel again, we'll have to make plans for a Dallas-area Barn Find Hunter trip and try and meet up for dinner! Maybe bring Davin along to find us another project!

Where's the coffee making equipment? One of the most vital things in any workshop! From the tiniest jeweller's place, to the biggest heavy engineering outfit, it's the one common thing. It greases the wheels. Other than that, I've turned a very deep green. Well jealous. Enjoy it.

Hopefully they have a common break room with coffee, tea for the Brits that visit, cold water and Gatorade for those REALLY hot days in the shop, and even a microwave for those days that you brought something tasty for lunch from home. And I’m also dark green with envy because they have lifts (that would be a ramp for you British viewers) and I have to deal with ramps and jacks.
@creepingjesus5106
@creepingjesus5106 4 жыл бұрын
@@digitalrailroader Totally agree. I took ramps and a pit for granted when I had access to them, but drive up ramps, trolley jacks, and axle stands just aren't the same. Especially out in the street, as I have to. Food and drinks helps with problem solving too. All those times you really can't grasp what's up/want to give up on it...five minutes out to refresh yourself can make all the difference. Don't know how many times I've been there!

Fantastic new shop, a huge space! I completed installing the wood on my 57 Chevy truck today. Two man job with the back off the truck. All wood was cut and routed by us, burnt to look old and even the steel strips repaired to retain originality. I'm very pleased with the result and thanks to Davin has given me huge confidence In tackling my running restoration.

Hi Davin, Congrats! I always look forward to your (and Hagerty) videos. If you want to go into the shop details any deeper then you could explain electricity service, shop lights, the floor drain, compressed air (oiler, drier, tank size, rotary or piston, compressor location and sound deadening ( I bet you don't want the compressor kicking in in the middle of a shoot) & operating psi). I saw what looked like new air fittings on the wall. Can't wait to see the parts cleaner! Again Congrats!

Love the non existent establishment shot when you all entered the engine assembly room. Further enhanced by the camera operator deciding that a charcoal grey, featureless backdrop for Davin to stand in front of was suitably interesting. Great rehearsal that one. Reminds me of the time when I was a cameraman at a football game. I was required to film some people and get their thoughts on a players milestone. Do it on the fly they said. Okay, so I'm interviewing the grand mother of the player in question. This is for posterity after all. Anyway she and I did our thing and I moved on. Back on post you know what was behind and above her head in the BG? A sign that read 'Public Toilet'. Learnt a lesson that day. All the best.
