Your post makes me sad because I used to buy brand new MX bikes before the 1986 production rule, (that tripled the cost of a bike in 5 years), making $1.00 part time at my Dad's store. You did not have to be rich to ride and race. This is what we get for letting the FIM and the EPA tell us what to make and buy. Out of reach costs for the consumers, and opportunity lost.

Only because you could not find the good flow. It took me a long time to find good flow in sand whoops, (and these are not that big, but the track is fast of course, like they all are today), but once I got it,--they became easy. I never experienced really being part of the machine, until I mastered sand whoops. When you get to that point, it feels like you can push it as hard as you want.

@@EarthSurferUSA I got to go with a friend because he was a Pirelli dealer. They rented the track for the day for their licensed dealers. Gave them all free knobbies front and rear. I was in my mid to late 40's and out of shape. I found out it was a long, difficult ride just to do one lap. I finished looking like a wash rag that was wrung out by Hercules. Was no hero that day but had a blast. Still have the event t shirt too.
