► Hailey and Jay (+ Voight) | The beginning of the end [+ 10x01]

Okay, I think we all see where things are going... I have to admit this whole situation closes a full circle now... I tried to show this with my video. How Jay tried to protect Hailey from becoming Voight, how he failed and how she changed. Then her not being able to handle the 'new Hailey' and she slowly got back (sort of? I'm having a hard time understanding her lately), to now her warning him how he can't be close to him without changing.
And all the times they went against Voight's orders because of each other. I think it was about time that Hank snapped at them... And I guess one of them has to go now? Because obviously they can't work together and be together anymore... So in a way it's a fitting exit, because we've seen Jay battling through his moral state, his believes and the way he wants to work as a cop because of both Hailey and Voight. And if he stays, he is bound to change...
I just hope they don't kill him off. That's what I'm hoping for. Although I don't see him leaving his wife just like that. We will see. We don't have a lot of time left with our #upstead . :(

You are partly right. I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that Jay was changed when he joined the unit he may be the moral compass for the unit, but he will cross lines when needed. He is like a more objective version of Voight, Voight always does dirty without checking every available option where as Jay will do it as a last resort. In the episode endings when their father's building was set on fire he was cruel to everyone. He went against Hank's orders and even got angry with the brother(the brother was innocent) of the person responsible and grabbed him to take him to the station after he refused. Anyway the synopsis for the 3rd episode seems to give a hint of him re-deploying. Great video as always.

Of course he will cross lines when needed, who wouldn't. You are right, he will do it as a last resort. The difference in my opinion is that he really doesn't like it... Voight has learnt not to carry it and so he does it without bothering him that much. He puts the result first no matter the cost, but Jay tries it the other way. He wants to get the result the right way. And thank you! 😍

I think you're both right and wrong. Right about the difference in how they do the job or handle the case especially Hailey's way. Wrong about why they do it. All three have done the job their way but not all the time. Voight does rarely listen to his team and their point of view. Jay and Hailey have at times taken matters into their own hands because of how the case affects them or the victims. If you watched the episode in season 9 which shows Hailey asking Voight how they were going to handle this Voight asked her if this was too much for her then she needed to say something to him and her response was " no I don't want that". There's somethings that Jay has kept from Voight and so has the rest of the team and probably had their reasons. Hailey followed Voight even though he didn't want her there and even told her to leave. She soon talked him out of it but before they could arrest the guy he grabbed Voight's weapon which Hailey saw clear as crystal. The serge may be team leader but even the team leader is human and can make vital mistakes but that's them not the team. She could have followed through by telling him, right after he said that he would take care of it, like Jay did refusing to let Voight handle FBI North, she could have said "no serge I'm calling it in" or have taken backup since every cop was looking for Burgess but like how the writers didn't write it that way she didn't do anything of the sort. She has stepped up to the plate with the others multiple times and this time stepped back. Jay was wrong to accuse the serge of putting her there because as Hailey reminded him she went their herself. She did that all on her own and that neither Voight or Jay control her or her actions. She didn't even come forward or call it in. Voight is not corrupt he just handles case differently because like everyone else he responds to them differently. Some takes things hard, some can control themselves and some are in between. No human thinks the same about anything. Just because someone takes matters into their own hands doesn't mean their evil or bad. They have a different approach to things is all. It can happen to anybody and some take longer than others to except change like in season 8 and near the end Voight was right about how things were being handled which was not reform. There's always more than one responsible person in each story when it comes to working as team and at the end of season 8 when they found Burgess they did it separately not together.

It's really sad to see him leave, they've JUST built them together into something beautiful, JUST to break them down now. It's sad, they were really sweet, but oh well, it is what it is. Thank you for such a great video. I still can't believe Jay is leaving. He has always been my favourite character by far... I liked the way they built up Jay and Hailey' s love story... I just can't come to terms with this sad outcome...since I am in Argentina... I still have to wait for this new season to be on... so your incredible video kept me up with how they are dealing with Jay' s departure... just praying it is not for good. Thanks!

Great edit as always! I think Jay is going to work this next case and it will spur feelings of stuff he did in the Army, like last season. He made a bad decision then, and over the years has made questionable decisions. They all have. I hope he realizes he isn't himself and decides to get counseling. He leaves intelligence to regain his moral compass and to save his marriage. I hope he is mentioned a lot but of course we won't get to see him. As for Voight's speech about being each other's keepers, that's exactly the position he let Jay take after Jay went to his house and said he's going to protect Voight from himself. This whole thing is so out of character for Jay, I just don't buy what they are selling. I hope NBC Universal and Wolf Entertainment break out the checkbook and get him back. I thought if jay went back to Organized Crime, he could do a crossover on L&O: OC and then work back to intelligence. Wishful thinking.

Last night was very sad with Jay leaving...Hailey was very hurt again i cant believe they broke them up that way..both of them struggled to find each other and now it's going to be very hard for Hailey to be without Jay...the Chicago Franchise was ectremely sad all around last night on the tv drama series😭

I don't think they broke up because he said that she's the love of his life and it's going to be 8 months or so and that they can get through this. I like how they left an opening for Jesse to come back and I hope he does. The whole reason for leaving so he can find himself again and I cab understand that because he realize he changed and if he stayed he know that he would become like Voight and he said it himself that he wanted to be like him and that is what is afraid. But I'm glad they got to say goodbye to each other. I might not like Hank that much but he respects Jay and that's why he's probably the only one that will listen to Jay all through the years sometimes. Because if you think about it besides Antonio Jay is the only one that can challenge Hank. I think that's why when Jay punched Hank he didn't do anything back because Hank could have fired him but he didn't because of the relationship they have. I hope I making since. This is just my opinion

@@anita6618 Hi..i agree with you on not broke up..i should have used the word separate Jay and Hailey so unfair...however he's gone he left the series so dont know how the writters will deal with that issue but it left Hailey hurt and sad. Dont think they will be together anymore..i loved them both🌹

​​@@anita6618 but essentially they might break them up unfortunately, Jesse left PD and we know he is not coming back in "8 months" so he might come back for one episode to say to her that he did find him self and he belongs there wich would mean the end of Upsted,or if they can't find excuse for his character being absent for so long they might kill him off screen.I would love if he could come back next season but unfortunately chances for that are slim

I never really liked Hank, as the ways he does things have no boundaries. Regardless of my personal opinion on the character, I think he has some truths to share (and he does with Hailey, Jay, and rest of the unit) He may be old, but he has seen different types of people come and go. So he knows things that work and things that don't.

Jay and hailey all crossed line throughout there time in the unit jay was sleeping with a CI that was dealing drugs hailey crossed line by setting up a big time drug dealer too get killed because he murder her CI right in front off her .like jay told hank at the airport at end off season 10 episode 3 he wants too be like him that’s his problem I think Jesse will return too CPD the writers left it open he told hailey 8 months he would be gone .the thing that they don’t understand is hank is old school tuff and that comes from years in law enforcement he was policing before most off them could walk and talk he told hailey that he turned something inside himself off long time ago that’s why he can do what he does I think hailey screwed up twice when she shot Anna and when she followed hank and killed the guy at the end off season 9 ,great show love CPD .👍✌️

@@SuperSoldier26 I agree with you completely,for me personally this is the end,I loved both Hailey and Jay as partners first then as love interest,I loved slow burn and years of developing and building their characters and their story and I hate that just as we got them it ended and I can't watch PD with out one of them,so I will take a year long break from PD and if they get next season I might catch up if I am ready,but definitely I wouldn't like to see Hailey with anybody else and the new guy is just not very interesting but he might become

@@Alona2811 Oooohhhhh most certainly my friend and you are so very right. Jay and Hailey have fought, saved people, bled, worked, and loved together. They seemed to be an inseparable pair. I agree with the thought of seeing Hailey with another man is one thing that just destroys the show completely
