So I guess the time has come.
Goodbye, my #Upstead . I started watching Chicago PD because of them. So now with them gone, I won't be watching anymore. It was an amazing ride. I've loved them for so long so I was a little sad while I was editing this. I usually don't like to brag, but I'm extremely proud of this one. It shows the whole arc, the whole switching and changing, and navigating through the crappy situations.
I will miss them so much.
I don't know if I'll ever make another #Upstead video. Maybe when I miss them too much, or I just have the muse to do it. But this marks the end of a very big, very important part of the content of this channel. And I wanted it to be good. I hope you enjoy this. Please share your thoughts with me about this one. Jay hasn't been himself in a long time. At the ending of last season you could see the change on him.Hank always doing things wrong and Upton following in his footsteps last yr.And now Jay wanting to be him this is crazy I think Jay getting away from Hank is probably the best thing he does. When he comes back someday he will be Jay Halstead the way he was before Hank got into his head.I really didn't like the season premiere of Chicago pd.

Hauntingly Beautiful. Your heart breaks for Hailey, and what is yet to come . As she goes through the tornado of emotions of being left behind. If Jay ever does come back,I think it will be to say that He’s staying on His new assignment permanently. I love Upstead, I hate that Jay left.. and I’m not looking forward to all that Hailey is about to go through . I’ve been there. It’ll either eat you alive , or make You the strongest version of yourself .

Great edit as always! But it just highlights to me why the way they wrote him out makes no sense. He knew he was paying a price for covering for Hailey, but they got through it. Now he wants to be Voight 2.0 after warning Hailey that getting too close to Voight never ends well. In the same episode, Voight tells Hailey we need Jay just the way he is. So why, then, would Voight welcome Jay quite clearly becoming a clone of himself? Voight should have stepped in after the stabbing and had a heart to heart with both of them, getting Jay transferred out to run his own section and to get help. I really don't think he would leave Hailey, and the same day? I just hope they don't kill Jay off in some mission in Bolivia. I want TPTB to get their @#$# together and get Jesse back. #Upsteadforever

I on the other hand understand completely why he doesn't want to do it anymore.. It was sudden and out of nowhere for sure. But the whole storyline in general makes sense to me. Hw said it himself. He wants to be like Voight, he knows Voight is helping the city, but Jay can't do it like him... his moral compass doesn't allow him to. And they've had many dissagreements over the years, but because of Hailey Jay finally crossed a line he never had before. And he saw it worked. And he saw it could work again and again and again. And that scared him because of how easily Voight and Hailey got in the routine of lying again... And he can't do that anymore. It's not who he is. And he finally reached his point... But yeah it was sudden , they should've exploit it longer.

@@Maggs_ I think you are right, but I don't think he would have left Hailey like that. How do you fix your compass? Leave intelligence and go to counseling. Get himself fixed and do joint counseling with Hailey to keep their marriage strong. You could still deal with Hailey having to work without him, Jay throws himself into the new job and it causes friction. Talked about but not seen. I'm not quitting the show, but my passion for it is gone, which is sad to me. I watched for Upstead. Voight as a character (not a rip on Jason Beghe) never pays for anything. I would have loved for him to get into some sort of trouble, Jay comes back as a Sergeant to run things, and of course Voight wiggles out of it. But there could be a new standard for how they do things in intelligence. Bring in someone like Mouse to do more tech for them to make doing the work the right way easier. Just my two cents.

@@burrowsal I agree about Hailey. We just have to keep in mind that they HAD to work a storyline about Jesse leaving, not the other way around. So they work with what they have. Tracy is staying, Jesse is leaving, he won't be seen anymore. He could work in another unit and we just won't see him - that's true. But I don't think it would be satisfing enough too. So they have to find a way to not show him, but without killing him. So they don't have a lot of options... I think they worked around it pretty well. Was it ideal? No. But it is the best they could do.

11/4/22 .....I WAS a die hard fan of Chicago PD for a very long time. We were introduced to the original characters, learn their back stories, understand who they are, where they came from, where they're going. We grow an attachment to them but one by one, we see these top characters leave the show. This is difficult for the viewer. We mourn their absence. There are only a few characters remaining to hang on to. Who's next ???? You can introduce new replacements to Intelligence but NO ONE can take the place of those left behind. Can't even imagine how Hailey is going to accept Jay not being by her side. Will she spiral, don't know. This much I know for sure, watching Jay entering the airport, duffel bag in hand was the last time I watched the series. Don't know when or if I will return. So sad.

However this broke my heart ive been watching this show since it came out and instantly fell in love with #Upsteadforever however Jay did say that he would come back from Bolivia after 8 months and I know he will Hailey is the love of his life so he can’t leave her forever and he loves working in the intelligence, so yes I’m sure he will return but I just don’t know if we will get to see him return because the writers might not show the return but fingers crossed we do 🤞🏼 even if we don’t though, we will know they lived happily ever after❤

idgaf of what people think this is my opinion so: Voight made them split up. They were same thing even if there were a lot of differences between them, they tried so hard to make things work out because of their love, and faithfulness. Voight it's the bad boy, that lead them on the wrong path, I know they are adult so they can make choices by themselves BUT... we all know how Voight 's character is able to change cards for his own intentions. I know it's Jesse decision to leave the show, but the writers made it like it isn't Jay anymore. Jay Halstead should take the unit, and become the boss. just my opinion PLEASE NOT HATE

His decision to once again shoot straight and join a drug task force in Bolivia was empty and jarring. Most importantly, it left too much unresolved between him and Upton,his decision to drop everything and move to Bolivia for eight months is as out of his character as his previous behavior .His inability to handle Voight-level shady police work is hardly justification to leave his wife and career behind.Instead of tearing his character apart, the series should have allowed Jay Halstead to leave while doing something honorable, honest and just.Even worse, Jay leaves the force and the country without consulting Upton despite their rock-solid relationship.I expected Upstead to end with his departure, I couldn't predicted it would end so poorly. It looks like writers wanted to end Upstead by making Halstead's shady behavior Upton's motivation for divorce , then at the last minute decided to keep them together,but he sealed the Upstead coffin when he manipulated her into letting him go as if she had a choice,P.D. seems intent on drawing out Upton's pain. She may find herself in an angry, lonely, bitter arc for the rest of season. P.D. should either end the relationship or give Halstead an off-screen death. The latter would prevent future guest visits, but considering how out of character he became, that may not matter.Jay Halstead's exit was effectively meaningless. Giving the fan-favorite character a sudden, short-lived bad-boy arc before his farewell makes no sense. Hailey's eyes in the final scene scream "What is happening?", a question not sufficiently answered before Halstead hops the first plane to Bolivia. If Chicago P.D. has any respect left for Halstead or Upstead for that matter, the writers will find an opportunity to wrap up his story with dignity before the end of this season.BTW beautiful video of one of my favorite couples or characters in general but I stopped watching PD ,thanks again for this beautiful video
