i dont think he ever lost his skill and raw speed, he just lost his winning motivation. midway 2008 ferrari were having so much trouble already with reliability issue and other things and the team favoured felipe and kimi was probably fed up already with the team. in 2009, ferrari made a shit car, nothing kimi and felipe could do. after felipe's hungary accident, kimi suddenly won in spa and is pretty fast for the rest of 2009 and it was later revealed by james allen in an article (if im not mistaken) that he had asked the mechanic to make the car setup to suit him too but they never did until felipe was out. after his comeback, he was just never as motivated like when he was back in his winning days, but, he did not lose his consistency and his clean racingness (is that even a word lol) and finished 3rd in the championship in the first year of his comeback. as he said once "it's more like a hobby for me".

Maybe they could see in the data or something that the car was catching fire and was trying to get Lance to hurry. Kinda sounded like he was trying to get him to get out of the car as fast as possible. But I agree there, after such a shunt the first question should be "are you ok?" and then telling him to get out fast if needed, but the "what happened there" can wait until later, nothing matters more than the health of the person who went through that...

It's not really essential I suppose. Integrating the display into the wheel would require a total redesign of the wheel and cost the team precious time and resources. The team seems to be focusing on performance and reliability for now. Adding a more complicated steering wheel with important display signals being sent to a detachable wheel brings more possibilities of things going to shit. Steering wheels are super expensive by the way, above $60000
