I have been a hair professional for 15 yrs and I really enjoy cringing with him on these DIY vids. I am a platinum blonde and so is my friend and mentor. We do each other’s touch ups every 6 weeks. I wouldn’t tackle a regrowth that long , and will not do my own. It’s so easy to overlap and break the hair. These vids terrify me.

Well I hate to admit it but i gave myself a shag cut using the ponytail technique and it turned out awesome. I have fairly thin hair but it even gave me some curls which arent usually visible with a longer length. Maybe I was just lucky, dont know! And as it grew out it still looked good. Im getting a friend who's a hairdresser to give me a layered cut, in a couple of weeks, so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.

I have been bleaching my hair for over 10 years, I never used box color🤷🏽♀️ I’ve always used straight bleach(powder)with 20 or 30 developer. The only thing I didn’t like about being blonde is it fades fast! I had to bleach my hair maybe every 3 weeks bc mine was platinum blonde. Also the longer you keep it in the lighter it will be. But it will burn like a relaxer if you keep it in too long or if you were scratching your head prior to bleaching it. I’m letting my hair grow out so the blonde is more so on my ends & my natural color is showing & I love it!!

I subscribed immediately! 😍 I thought I was keeping my hair healthy by waiting as long as possible in between bleaching. But now it's so obvious I could be getting better results AND less damage.

When you cut your own hair you must always cut little bits at a time! None of this hack n slash BS. Not if you want nice hair. Yeah, it takes a couple hours to do. We either sacrifice time by doing it ourselves or money by going to a professional, there is *no* other way! 😂❤
@hopefletcher7420Ай бұрын
After several years of telling my hairdresser I was unhappy with the way the hair in the back looked, I finally ghosted her. The front and sides, when looking at me straight on, were fine, but from the side I always looked like I had slept on a board. After 10 months with no haircuts, I decided to just cut a couple of inches off the lengths. But I had scissors in my hand and it was late in the evening. I actually did several sessions over several days and ended up with a cut and style I love. Lucky for me, my hair became quite wavy/curly in the last 10 years so slight imperfections aren't noticeable. The layering in the back gives the hair a nice curve around the scalp. And on another plus side, I've saved myself a lot of money.

@hair-buddha I know you never suggest products, but I'd love to see one day a video of yours where you explain the ingredients that we should be looking for. I have thin curly hair, so if I get definition, the weight of the product flattens my head. I know I have to avoid products that contain alcohol since it dries the already dry curly hair. I understand you'te not into "products" but maybe "ingredients" may be something that intrigues you ❤️ hugs to you and your family ❤️

8:06 For the past five or six years i've only used semi permanent dyes (before that I used both permanent and semi permanent but I always flip flop depending on what I want even use permanent and semi together) but I keep the color for half a year to a year before I switch to another color and even then I don't use heat on my hair (my hair is thick and wavy and I like how it naturally looks easy to use for styles/looks I want without needing heat or styling products), for a month or two depending before I plan to change colors i'll leave my hair alone let it grow out no bleaches no touch ups just use hair strengthening products making sure my hair is as strong and healthy as possible for when I bleach and to get as much of the color out as possible to expose more of my bleached blonde hair underneath so I don't have to bleach as much (as a little kid I had naturally blonde hair then when I got a little older it became a dirty blonde color so my natural color is easy peasy to bleach after just one bleaching session i'm good it's the bleaching other colors out that's the problem), bleach, apply new color, hair straightening treatments, and BOOM new hair color with as little damage as possible then every two or three weeks i'll touch it up (bleach my roots and add more hair color since semi fades quickly especially if you don't take care of it). So having a lot of colors is possible but you for sure gotta take of your hair and be smart about it 🤷🏻♀️

I bleach my roots only 2-3 times a year and the bleach never touches my scalp, because I am allergic. I need to let 5mm to 1cm of the natural roots color be untouched. But I never have problems with different shades. I make sure that the bleach fully covers my hair and take fine sections😊 my hair is platinum blonde for over 20 years and tailbone lenght. I use only box bleach. But No damage, because I treat it very gentle

Now 2 days later when I am done with work today I am doing all the parts she did not get, then doing it a second time to get the orange out. Yes I am using 20 vol. Hopefully I can help her it is so patchy.

My Godmother kept her long hair Platinum for over FORTY YEARS of my life before she passed! She even gave my son advice on bleaching his roots, lol.
@dixierae6063Ай бұрын
Bless her heart. I have a girlfriend of 50 years and she has dyed her hair Platinum for the majority of that time. We haven't been in close contact for the last 20 but she remains platinum blonde and has a very thick head of hair. And it looks like it's very soft in shiny. We come from a time when as soon as you saw outgrowth you did those roots. Although it was obvious a woman dyed her hair it was considered trashy to let your roots show. The only time I bleached my hair it was cut into a pixie. I went to a salon and had my roots done every 2 weeks. It got too expensive so I went strawberry and did it myself. I looked much better. Very few women in my opinion wear platinum well.

I've been dying and cutting my own hair ever since the summer after 5th grade so right before 6th grade (i've been to professionals a few times but every time I did it just wasn't a good experience and cost a lot since my hair is thick and i've always kept it fairly long- the latter on it's own isn't bad doing hair is hard work and costs a money it's when it's in combination with a bad experience that's the problem) but yeah I remember before I had a lot of experience and knowledge with bleaching hair when I was 15 I ended up bleaching my hair 5 times in one week because before that I had dyed my hair black and getting that black out is a pain and not gonna lie I probably lost 30% of my hair from breakage my hair was turning into mush I couldn't even brush it (I remember calling my then best friend in tears as chunks of my hair were coming out haha) for weeks just left it alone doing every healing treatment I could think of and get my hands on no heat no products etc and eventually a few months later it was much better, healed, my hair was filling back up, and thankfully the last bleaching got my hair to the shade I wanted so I just touched up the regrowth and I was good to go 😊 Bleach blonde is one of my favorite hair colors but unfortunately it's for sure the most damaging and hard to keep up with IMO even compared to semi hair dyes so I very rarely have my hair that color- I have to bleach my roots for my semi hair dyes but thankfully you don't need a perfect bleach blonde to achieve that just some shade of blonde haha great video tho ❤️
