My hair has been “going grey” for at least 10 years. It’s white at the front but still drab brown at the back. I used to do home colouring (just to liven the brown) regularly until about 2 years ago when the white stopped taking colour. I got fed up of trying to give some life to the brown bits. Now I’m embracing the grey but it’s slow going!

I have a pixie cut asian hair and when I use bleach it can lift to a strawberry blonde with copper tones. After a couple of weeks of using hair oils I then use an ash colour on top to neutralise the red. I had an ombré kit from L’Oréal that had this amazing brush applicator which I use with the bleach and it produces natural, multiple tones. I apply it bit by bit leaving a five minute gap between applications, focusing on the front and top first, thus giving me a natural highlighted effect. Looks like I spent tons on a bayalage.

Back in the 60's it was the rage to have grey hair. My older sister with blonde hair turned her hair bluish grey! I quietly laughed at her panic. When I went to my stylist, with my naturally turning grey color he refused to dye my hair grey. He told me it would not be flattering at this time. So, three years later more grey, but the underside is dark brown. My guess is my sister is looking down from Heaven loudly laughing her head off.
@avalerie4467Ай бұрын
I was still pretty young in the 1960s, but women were doing everything to cover up their grey hair back then. Old grandmothers with that perfect beautiful pure white hair were usually the only ones who kept it natural. They used a product to keep it from looking yellow. Now, this is only from my perspective in Europe and USA, i imagine where you are from it was different. Nowadays, in the past 10-15 years, yes, i have seen the grey/lavender/pastel trend become very popular. In my late 60s now, and keep hoping for that gorgeous white hair - but nope - just much less hair😂😂😂

During lockdown I bleached my hair from very dark brown to blonde. I meticulously followed instructions. My husband helped and I did the lengths first and 25 minutes later the roots, left for 20 minutes again more or less. It came, as expected , as pale ginger. I nourished my hair for two weeks and proceeded to do a second Bleach with lighter peroxide (20%). Then I used few days later a DYI box ( ‘Oreal Preference blonde). My colour was great and blonde. My hair was in good condition considering. Now I just lightly continue with a L’Oréal box ( well 2 boxes) but ginger colour as it suits me better than blonde. No need for bleaching as the product itself is enough to do the roots. The treatment is enough to leave it naturally ginger as it strips the blue tone of my dark brown hair. So I only proceed with a colouring every 3 months to cover my few greys.

Dear Mr. Buddha, I am 58 with boxed brown hair level 4-5. After watching all of the horror stories on your channel, I am not going to chance bleach. My new growth is white. I am going grey, sick of coloring, but I already know bleach kills my hair. My plan is to use "colorfix" to take out what I can of the boxed color. I have bought wella T-50 (x2) and 20 volume creme developer. I have fanciful temporary rinse to use as I grow out the ends, plenty of hair masks and a few boxes of Silver Slate color gloss by Loreal that I may use in the future if needed. I will video it and maybe it will help others who want to go grey but don't want the years of demarkation line as they do. If it is a bad plan and goes south, we can all learn something without any hair falling out. ..
