The sock hack has been used by the military here in US for years lol. That's how we had to do our hair in basic training. Years and years ago I hadn't even seen those bun things in stores, I was wearing a "sock bun" to work.

I've made hairbuns out of socks! I have red hair so the blonde buns are too light and the brown/black buns are too dark. White socks can easily be dyed to a much closer color to my hair.

I was admitted to the hospital and HAD to get my hair up. I asked for socks with the toe cut off and I took the wrist part of the gloves(I ripped off the hand part). I used the wrist part as a ponytail holder and rolled up the sock to make a sock bun. It worked great! Sometimes you just have to use what’s available to you…

Depending on how you dye hair, you could always make sure to apply some to a white sock and then you have a custom donut for each hue

Yes. Definitely wear the wig. I've made so many hair mistakes in the past. I now get my hair professionally done, but I've had some horrendous at home color fiascos and attenpts at hair cuts. The pencil one @ 10:30 is secured with a band around the strands underneath the main ponytail. The thing about it is that you have to tuck the little ponytail into a band thats also around the main ponytail, otherwise you'll have 2 different tails hanging down that can be viewed from the side. I will advise using it soft t shirt for hair drying. Just gently wrap your hair up and wait a few minutes and the soft cotton absorbs far more water than a towel. I have long, wavy hair and I always do this. Also, the t shirt I use is probably 30 years old and is a family heirloom at this point 😂 I know several people who would give me a bunch of money for it ❤️ long story, many loved people involved.
