Haircut in 1970s Old School Puerto Rican Barbershop in the city of Ponce also known as the Pearl of the South. We filmed this haircut with Ramon, a third generation barber, at Waco’s Barber Shop which was opened in 1972 by his family.
After filming, Ramon showed us his canaries as well as his chickens and roosters outside who you will occasionally hear in the background.

I left Ponce around 34 years ago I always got my hair done by him and I'm amazed to see him now. He always consulted me in life telling me to be in school not cut classes . I'm so happy to see him doing what he does best but my next stop in Ponce is to see him then do my hair. Salsero como siempre 👍

@@derlachendevagabund7942 they do sound cheap but how can you tell they're set too loose? I know how to set them/test for myself and maybe feel the difference but I can't "see" it in this video. I also wonder if it would just kind of change the way the hair lays in a way that this barber prefers- plus speed isn't always such a factor in some shops so worst thing is it would be harder on his joints maybe.

For the people trying to figure out what he was saying at 12:38, he said that it was "parejo". "Parejo" means that is symmetrical in both sides, meaning the it was that Harry's hair has the same length in both sides after he cuted his hair. He was testing to see if he needed to cut somewhere else.

I remember the first time a lady cut my hair .. back In college some unisex shop ..I was a bit nervous .. the lady that was going to cut my hair looked like your typical old school grandma beautician/ hair dresser and just as old as grandma! And I was only 20 .. didn’t expect to get my hair washed either so she sat me down at the sink first and really gave me quite a good lengthy shampoo . then used scissors over comb for my entire cut blending it beautifully ..even after the cut she conditioned and rinsed the loose hairs out dried and nicely styled my hair. Very impressed .. great job like this guy here did.

an old school hairdresser/ beautician once gave me a great haircut using scissors over comb I was very impressed perfectly blended .. well done just like this guy ..was my first haircut in a unisex shop.. was a bit nervous at first, the woman was a bit elderly.. typical grandma beautician but excellent barbering service .. I’ve never had my hair washed in a shop before either .. she gave me quite a thorough shampoo before cutting my hair which I didn’t expect .

Stumbled upon this page, and listening to my compatriot talk about it being even ("parejo") and the "dubi" as a joke (which is a way of wrapping hair to reduce waves very popular with the island ladies) it made my heart smile. I haven't been home in a very long time, and listening to the rooter in the background made me tear up. May Ramón continue cutting hair for years to come, he's proficient as heck!
