Haircut in one of a kind authentic old Caribbean barbershop - Wag's Barbershop in Antigua! After stopping by several shops, we found this truly unique oasis of a barbershop near St John's in Antigua and Barbuda.
Padmore Jeremiah, known locally as Paddy, has a barbershop set amongst lush tropical plants. Step inside his backyard and immediately feel the nice cool air from the surrounding plants. Sit back and relax with the gentle sounds of wind chimes and chatter of his two parakeets.
All the customers we spoke with said there is nowhere else on the island with a barbershop like this!
Paddy told us his elderly grandma used to live in the countryside until his mom moved her to their home when he was growing up. So over 40 years ago, they built a small traditional Antiguan house for her in their backyard complete with original wooden storm shutters to keep bad weather out. This home eventually became the barbershop where Paddy has been barbering for over 25 years.
Also, Paddy showed us his collection of vintage items on display. Collected over the years, he has old clay cooking pots and a sewing machine from his mom, musical instruments, sports items (cricket bat and ball), and a Polaroid camera.
