Haha I sure did grow out of it! But I meant the aesthetic versus emotions and feelings. Im tatted, have piercings, listen to MCR daily, but I sure don’t identify as emo nor look it. The way we express ourselves changes over time. I assure you I’m still some degree of depressed I just don’t look like it.

She looks like a girl I used to work with. I really liked her. Her self expression reminded me of me as a teenager. I was 30 and she was 21. When she turned 22 she had a very bad car accident near my house and sadly didn’t survive. I went to her funeral and her close friends dressed like her and dyed their hair pink for the funeral. It was very comforting and bitter sweet to see them celebrate her like that.
@violetskies14
@violetskies14 Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry she died so young but I really like the "dressing like the person would have wanted" thing at funerals. It feels more personal and like a tribute to the person to me. My grandma raised me along with my mum because she was only 18 when she got pregnant and my bio dad didn't want me. She got suddenly sick and died of brain cancer last September. She loved bright colours and was really into expressing yourself and didn't like being boring or doing what was expected so I wore a bright green 70s style dress, a blazer she gave me and bright red lipstick she always said looked beautiful on me to her funeral. My mum said it'd have been what she wanted and a few other of our closest family members wore bright colours or bright ties too. She was the kind of woman who always wore an explosion of colours, a bunch of patterns, and always had bright red hair and somehow still looked good.

@@dreamhunter5778 I felt sad about her for a long time. In old American culture they used to call kids who dressed like her ( and me in my youth) punks. She was no punk she was respectful and sweet. I had hair like this 2007-2010 🤣 I went to prom in 09 and went to a professional hairdresser (at my moms request smh) to have my long black hair curled and the hairdresser was mortified that I had layers ranging from 3 inches long to 20 inches long 🤣 she was like “WHY DID YOU DO THIS” and im all “😒 🙄🙄 it’s called being emo” Younger gen doesn’t get to fully experience what the true teenage emo lifestyle was like, going to shows every weekend, all of my friends were in local bands. MySpace was the main social media but it was nothing like ig or fb. Our moms didn’t have MySpace lmao and their was no fake af Kardashian BS (no one cared about lip fillers and expensive clothing) We played music on our profiles and created our own html profiles and if you took someone off of your top 10 that means you REALLY don’t F with them like that anymore lol 🥹 We had mp3 players with music we burnt off of lime wire 🤣 You couldn’t see the color of my walls in high school, band posters all over it. We skip class to go eat pizza and play rockband and the teachers didn’t care. I wore Tripp pants, Tripp skinny jeans, coontails, vans, band tees, arm warmers, 1000000000 bracelets and cut my hair with razors (burnt it to pieces with the straightener and teased it to no end) Those days were fun af. Now I’m a much more muted adult emo but thankful I got to experience the true 2010 emo phase and all of its glory. Edit: I’m pretty sure that song is by pierce the veil if my emo knowledge serves me well 😂

I hate to say it my hair is not that long but my hair grows naturally into that cut I don't even need to go to the hair dresser. She did a great job. Love where she put the blue color

I wanted that style in my teens, but it was always too short, so I just chopped what I had, exactly the same technique, and rocked it in to my 20s lol

Only way to do it!! Only hairdressers who can actually cut like that seem to be on KZbin lol. It's like they're too scared to just go for it.

"I'll be dying for that if I were THIRTEEN" 😂😂😂 lmaaaao! Exactly. I got into being emo in 6th grade, in '08. At the end of 7th grade in 09 I was p much done with it. 8th grade I just wore more band tees and by freshman year I was totally over it and stopped wearing Tripp pants and checkered belts and sweatbands haha.

I remember my hair was almost to my knees and I went to my stylist and had her chop it all off in a scene kid haircut like this! It took 6 hours total bc we colored it, too. I told her what I wanted cut wise and gave her carte blanche on color. She made it look like someone dumped paint on my head and it was AMAZING! ❤

You calling it a fringe like we do here in the U.K. was satisfying for some reason lol. Never understood the word bangs for a fringe. But that’s just cause I’m used to fringe anyways this hairstyle reminds me me of being in school.

I love doing that kind of texturizing to my hair. It helps bring out my natural waves. Being as blind as I am tho, I needed a lot of help to do my hair 😂 at least I got better with it and use a bladed comb now
