This is the first time in my life I’ve heard a hair stylist say something positive about henna which is an amazing herb for a healthy scalp and hair. They usually push the expensive chemical products. Another reason to love Hair Buddha!
@theoldways1549 Жыл бұрын
I have been dying my hair with henna of and on for 33. When I was younger I did it because I liked the bright orange/ red glow. Now I do it because I have a couple of grey hairs (actually a beautiful platinum/ silver colour) but they are just to few to look good. They are also not concentrated in on spot but all over the place. Otherwise I might have left them. My natural colour is chestnut e.g. brown with a red glow. So the henna goes well with my natural hair colour. About henna, which is made from a plant called Lawsonia Inermis. It's natural colour is always a orange / brown to auburn, depending on the brand ( country and area it comes from). Any other henna e.g. black, blond and what have you have a chemical added to change the colour. Henna is very good for your hair. It doesn't go in to your hair, it incases your hair. Which protects it from the environment (natural weather, air pollution). You make a henna paste by adding boiled water to the powder (use a glass container because it will stain everything). You can add a bit of lemon juice but it will not do much. It doesn't intensify the colour, it will lighten it a bit e.g. make it more orange. Also do not ad apple cider vinegar or any vinegar. Diluted apple cider vinegar is close to your hairs natural pH level. What it does is close the cuticles of your hair. If you want a good result from your henna dye, don't put it in the henna mixture. Use diluted apple cider vinegar after you rinsed out the henna thoroughly, preferably with cold water (because it will stain your pillowcase or clothes if you don't). The diluted apple cider vinegar will then close your hair follicles, trapping the henna colour, it will then last longer (±6 weeks. However the colour does not go away it only fades). You don't need tea, nor coffee to intensify or darken the colour it doesn't do anything. And don't put any oils in the mixture either. What that does is make the henna not be able to stick to your hair. So it decreases the effect. You can do an oil mask after you dyed your hair. However I would wait a couple of days. The henna is already a treatment for your hair. After you dyed your hair it will feel thicker and a bit rigid. Be gentle with your hair. Don't brush it. Detangle it with your fingers or use a very wide tooth comb. Remember wet hair is very fragile. I do however detangle it when it is towel dried. Regarding leaving the henna mixture for an X amount of hours or overnight. No!! Use it straight away. Henna stops working after a couple of hours. So you will never get the full benefit of the henna if you leave it. Add boiling water, mix it until it is about as thick as mud. While you are applying it, the henna will keep absorbing the water so it goes thick and to dry fast. What you can do to make the consistency easier to apply is add natural yoghurt. You have to eyeball it. It depends on how much of the henna mixture you are making. When you have medium long to long hair, you have I'll need a lot. So first make it as thick as mud. Then ad some yoghurt untill it turns in to a more runny yoghurt (not to runny, it will drip on your neck, ears and face). Remember it will thicken as it cools. The yoghurt is actually good for your hair, not as strong a pH level as apple cider vinegar. It will nourish your hair, not close the cuticles. Also, it I'll cool down the henna mixture a bit. I have burned my head putting the freshly mixed henna powder and boiled water on my head. On my hands it didn't feel hot, but it was still very hot. Finally, use a shower cap on your hair. Leave the henna in for a minimum of 3 hours. I prefer 4. After rinsing it out. Try not to wash your hair to often ( that isn't good for your hair anyway). Wash with cold water, as cold as you can handle. Don't go swimming in chloride water. F.y.i. I have been a hairdresser for... actually about as long as I have been dying my hair with henna. Good luck 🍀

@deeharrison3036 Жыл бұрын
I absolutely understand that poor woman! I have not been to a salon that could cut my hair like my now retired hairdresser - a bob- longer in the front and shorter in the back, with some cutting of the underneath layers to give it some volume. She moved away and I could have cried. After the first cut with the next hairdresser, I did cry!

@@cathrynlisaI think it was 💯 shock. I went to a higher end salon and wanted a balayage and a lob with my hair cut just below/brushing my shoulders. I literally had 3 foils, THREE!!! When I questioned it she added 2 more. The “balayage” was adequate at best and more like partial highlights, but the cut. Omg the cut. She cut it to my shoulders but kept trying to even it out, so it got shorter and shorter. When I realized it was chin length before it was dry, I told her to put the scissors down and stop. The owner came over and said it was exactly what I asked for. I was in disbelief. They said the wouldn’t change for the haircut but for the “balayage” only, but I refused. I looked up how much partial highlights started at and said I would pay that amount. Then they both argued saying the otitis based on length. I blew up because they highlighted my hair that was a good 3 inches past my shoulders but cut it to chin length. Sometimes high end salons don’t mean high end quality.

@@cathrynlisaExactly this! As soon as I saw "the result" I knew it had to be a personal hack job for attention. No salon is that bad. They would not stay in business if they were that bad. No one would ever pay. A wolf cut is very easy to do, if one follows exactly the tutorials from actual stylists, of which there are many. Even ponytail wolf cut tutorials. I have done several, from long to medium length, and each turned out very well. I think at least half of the hair fails now are for content and clicks rather than actual hair fails.

I can relate to that poor girl who’s hair was cut so janky. I went to a high end, expensive salon with my virgin light brown mousey hair that was about 3-4 inches below my shoulders. I showed the stylist MANY pictures of a balayage lob & politely asked they cut about 4 inches off so it was brushing my shoulders. I should’ve stopped everything after they did the so called “balayage” because it was literally 3 foils, THREE!!! When I questioned the stylist she got snappy and added 2 more foils. The balayage, aka highlights were adequate at best and more like partial highlights, but the cut, OMG the cut. The stylist cut it to my shoulders like I asked, but to my horror she kept cutting because she was trying to make it even on both sides. It got shorter and shorter until I realized it was chin length BEFORE it was dried. I told her to put the scissors down and stop. The owner came over and said it was exactly what I asked for without ever asking, or seeing the pictures. Yes, I do know and understand my hair can not look exactly the same as in pics, but the cut can be at the length I asked for. I was in disbelief. After arguing, the owner said they wouldn’t change for the haircut but would change $150 for the “balayage”, but I refused. I looked up how much partial highlights started at on their website and said I would pay that amount. Then they both argued saying I had to pay more because of the time it took to do the highlights based on length. 👀 I blew up because they highlighted my long hair before cutting it shorter than I asked. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had and sometimes high end don’t mean high end quality.
@Flouncymagoo229 ай бұрын
A balayage is not the same as a highlight and perhaps if you were really so worried about your precious hair length, you could try asking to see a portfolio of the stylist's work next time. I highly doubt you were polite about anything.

I feel that woman's pain, I was 14 when I got my hair cut at a salon, I could sit on it, it was very long. The guy cut a big chunk right at my shoulder, so there was no way to fix it but to cut the rest. I cried for weeks, every time I went to brush it. Just so happens, the high school I was just started going to, had barbering as a class. So I took it. So that I would never make someone cry because I messed up their hair. Been a barber/hairstylist for 4 decades, and never had anyone in tears. You have to be very careful if anyone in your chair asks for a drastic change. And when someone asks for layers, you don't give them a butchered side bob with mangled bangs.

You are the first hairdresser I've ever seen that isn't anti-henna :) I used it mixed with indigo for a few years, I loved it! The best shape my hair ever was in, was so soft and just perfect. Had a beautiful chestnut color with a slight purple tint to it in certain light. But then I screwed up, and instead of just doing my roots, I was doing my whole head. Then I think the place I was buying got some bad indigo, it wouldn't stay in my hair. I ended up orange/copper. So I started growing it out, did a big chop, and used semi permanent on my roots till I got it all out.

I still can’t believe that people are skeptical or shocked when people say they went to a salon, even ones that look like they could be on the expensive side, and the stylists jack up someone’s hair cuz they don’t know wtf they’re doing except the damn basics. Some stylists do not go out and continue learning more beyond that. And balayage isn’t the same as highlights - they don’t look the same in the end.. cutting and ruining my own hair IS less money spent honestly. I don’t trust anyone with my hair, idc how long you’ve been doing it. If you don’t continue to learn as time goes by, as trends happen - then be straight about what services you actually do know how to do. It just makes no damn sense unless your clients are always getting the same cut and color - don’t accept people who want different things that you don’t normally do! It’s bullshit. And that’s never worth paying you for something you didn’t actually do, something I personally wanted. Not how you think it is but what the actual client wanted.. I know some folks are faking for content but let’s be real - it ain’t all that far fetched to believe a stylist jacked up someone’s hair cuz they don’t know what they’re doing beyond what they learned in school and what they normally do for their usual clients. I love seeing stylists online continuously learning new things because they offer more services than the basics for any client that may come to them but you esp should have consultations before hair is touched anyways!

I’m at the part with the woman with long gorgeous hair before, crooked bad cut after saying are you kidding me over and over… that same thing happened to me last Dec. 😭 my hair was down to my waist, wavy, healthy, but also very heavy and I couldn’t do anything with it anymore. So one afternoon while feeling like my softball sized bun was ripping my scalp apart as usual I said enough! And pulled into a Super cheap salon. I asked the woman if she could handle doing a long angled bob. She said no problem. And then she proceeded to DESTROY my beautiful hair. I wish I could post a pic here because the back was not curved as an angled bob would be, no angle at all. She somehow cut it to look like a fuzzy butt with one cheek higher than the other. Yes, a BUTT. 🍑😫 Also I was unaware that my hair had gone curly while mostly up in that giant bun for years and she didn’t recognize this, so it was also wildly frizzy. She had no idea what she was doing. She told me I had to use hot rollers from now on. 😑 It looked like THE WORST uneven brushed out 80’s perm ever imagined. Also it only cost $25. As I wandered out in a nauseated daze, sad that my life was DEFINITELY over much sooner than anticipated, I finally understood that with hair, you for sure get what you pay for. A few weeks later, STILL traumatized, I went to a much pricier salon to correct it. When my stylist saw the back he dramatically gasped and clutched his chest, called his assistant over to see, and then in the mirror said to me I am SO sorry you had to experience this haircut. I will… do my best. 😂😭😩 Also HE is the one who told me the frizz was actually waves and curls, and helped me figure out how to fix it.

Last lady regretted for cutting her hair. The problem is that she doesn't know how to cumb her bangs. 🤣🤣🤣

Buddha is Spanish, what she speaks and what she said was that she looked like a pitbull with those bangs, and she was crying because she didn't like it.

One time my then 3 yo got up in the middle of the night to pee and cut her bangs off completely and also cut a $20 bill into teeny tiny pieces, it was priceless.

The last one is crying "what did i do" over and over again. She also stated that she is cutting her hair, but doesn't have the proper scissors for cutting hair. And i think she said her hairdresser is going to kill her for what she did 😂 i understand if people are cutting their own hair if they haven't found the right person to trust to cut their hair or lack of money, but don't understand when they don't have that problem and decide to f up their hair. It takes years to grow, what was chopped off in a few seconds 🥲

Hi Hair Buddha, I'm Mexican. The last woman was saying that she was very scary and that had no clue to how to cut her bang (obviously). She cut it a second time in an attempt to get a triangular shape. At the end she was murmuring What did I do, what did I do to my hair? To be over dramatic is a very latin thing...

The woman in her car that had the most gorgeous long hair 😢 😳 This is why we’re doing our hair at home. I’d rather be mad at myself for messing up.
