Do you have any advice about whether FUT or FUE would be a better option for my transplant? I have been using DHT inhibitors since I was 20, and now I'm almost 38. I started with finasteride in 2004, but I upgraded to dutasteride in May 2021 because finasteride wasn't strong enough to prevent my hair loss in the long term. I have been using oral minoxidil since July 2021. During the last several months of my finasteride use, I was losing hair rapidly, and I have a lot of diffuse thinning because I didn't make the switch to dutasteride soon enough. Because I was young when I started losing hair, I'm expecting that the medications won't work forever, and I'll probably need more transplants later on. I think FUT would be better for me because more grafts can be transplanted, and because the transplanted hairs will have a higher survival rate. I worry that an FUE would not be the best way to utilize the hair in my donor area. If I need more transplants years later, I will need as much donor hair as possible. My other concern is whether a hair transplant would be helpful for my diffuse thinning. My hairline is ok. I just need more density, and the medications aren't giving me as much improvement as I'd hoped.

Can you do a video about your oral minoxidil results? Also I noticed that Dr Saifi mentioned that he filled in a small area in your ahirline because of natural hair loss progression for your 3rd surgery. Are you nervous that finastiride won't be enough to halt hair loss for the future?

He made a video about his experience of having been on oral minoxidil for a year. He deleted the video, but it seemed like he has favorable results with OM, and he said it works better than topical minoxidil. I can't speak for everyone, but finasteride probably doesn't stop hair loss permanently, especially for those of us whose hair loss started at a young age. I started using finasteride when I was 20, and it worked well until I was 36. Maybe other people will get longer-lasting results from finasteride, but I don't know. I just know that I lost a lot of hair during the last few months of my finasteride treatment. It took me a long time, but I eventually found a dermatologist who prescribes dutasteride and oral minoxidil. So far, it's working better than finasteride to prevent further hair loss. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it to help me keep my hair as long as possible.

It's so refreshing to see the importance of temporal restoration highlighted and then performed so well - my temporal loss and asymetry is every bit and to be frank more devistating to me than the top of my hairline moving up because of the 'wide forehead' look that recessed temples gives. If someone were to have a temple-only restoration, would FUE be the best choice since it's a smaller number of grafts and single hair grafts would have to be chosen?
