Ishq-e-Laa: Aamna, regarding Azka, you're wrong when you say that this was the character we're supposed to like. No, Azka's character is deliberately flawed since at this moment she's not someone we're supposed to like. Azka and Azlaan, both are flawed human beings, if Azlan is rude and arrogant then Azka is self-centered and selfish. Shanaya was bringing a change in Azlaan, but she left him so soon. However, now, Azka will transform herself into Shanaya by being as selfless as Shanaya was. All Azka's flaws are on purpose because her journey towards perfection has started just now. Both Azka and Azlan will do the journey of redemption, she'll find her true love in him, and he'll find his Shanaya in her. btw the confrontation scene was brilliant. Azlan's anger was on point while Yumna's face was full of expressions.. her earlier excitement, then shock, guilt, sadness, fighting with emotions, trying to find words.. she did that scene flawlessly.. lastly, if you think that Azka's character is not likable then it proves that Yumna Zaidi is delivering it perfectly and there's is no lapse in her performance..

Finally someone said it....Interesting that people are realising either now or since Shanaya's death that Azka is selfish...I already got that impression from the first 3 episodes that Azka is not a likable character..the way she's spoilt by her brother (he literally resigns from his job due to her prolonged reaction over what happened at Azlaan's house ...this could've been handled through a proper conversation between him and Azlaan+his fam but no he leaves, struggles to find a new job and ends up being killed...) and mother (and later on by her bhabi), her only concern being her medical school admission, etc...Also if one notices that many things go her way ..the way her wedding with Abid is called off (through her niece), her rishta with that guy from America (recently) thanks to Abid, her medical college being funded by a third party (thanks to shanaya and azlaan) when she has no brother to support and her bhabi and mother are struggling to take care of the household dues ...I mean for someone who has strong luck and is overly spoilt...it makes sense for that person to end up becoming self-centered...Also,, I was not surprised by her cold reaction towards Shanaya's death ..in fact, it went in line with her character...The only trait in Azka that makes her redeemable is her strong belief in God...and through this God is leading her to a journey of righteousness which is hopefully going to begin after that wake-up call she gets from Azlaan.....

Now the real test is how Azka will change after this encounter with Azlaan...how will she make up for all the favors and sacrifice Shanaya did for her and ehr family. Sang e mah: All these conflicts are turning my head (in a good way). The parental woes of Haji and Zarsanga towards their sons in contrast to their sons' disappointment with their parents is classsic. It's patently obvious Hikmat has suffered insecurities as a child which remain unaddressed by his parents who have oversimplified the complex issues both Hikmat and Hilmand are grappling with. The parents' grief is genuine but not being open to their sons' POV is also unfair. Hikmy shined after turning into a fierce adversary from the docile, less "problematic" child among the 2 sons. Haji needs to tone down his blood pressure aka ghairat and actually learn some parenting 101 and his wife could also do the same. Hilmy needs to take up a real hobby and visit that same baba Zargona went to to learn to let go of the grudges and all his plotting. Or they can all just continue as they are and self-destruct. Either way it's a really interesting watch.

Most of the screen space they gives to Kubra and Sajal,which is very disappointing factor, and the conflict between Rabia and Mahjabeen is so lame and they are unnecessarily stretching it. I'm not interested in major Samia and major Usama k ghar ki kahaniyan. Story of Sinf e Aahan could be more better but the personal favoritism vanished the charm of this drama & they couldn't handle it well. This is what I feel about Sinf e Aahan at this point. Hassan I’m a Pushtun from tribal areas and I wanna clarify that in Pashto there is no such word as “APP” just like in English we say “YOU” for everyone regardless of age and gender. It might seem weird and disrespectful to many but our language only has “TUM” it doesn’t really have “App” even for elders. We call our elders also “Te” in tribal Pashto and that’s ok Kuink humari language main yeh disrespectful nai hai. That’s how our language is especially in the tribal areas.

Watching two dramas together yesterday, sang e Mah and a few initial episodes of Mrs. n Mr. Shamim, two aspects in both left lasting impression on me. Both dramas highlighted the definition of ‘ Mardanhi ’ amongst the masses of our society. “ ju biwi ko maray na, woh mard nahi, na mard hae. Ye mard ka Haq hae”.( Zarghuna’s first marriage). This issue is portrayed in a more sensitive and detailed manner in Mrs. n Mr. Shamim, showing how it effected the personality of a male child in the family, whose father was proud of his mardangi by beating up his mother. Shamim hated the concept so much that he didn’t want to be a mard anymore. Secondly, the performance of Nauman Ijaz in both, as Haji Marjaan and then as Chammo. The difference in nuances in both characters, the gait, mannerisms, expressions , even the style of weeping, all par excellence. Couldn’t believe it was the same actor playing the two characters. 👏

For Azka in Ishq e la, the character is badly written. She appears to be a selfish character and so is her mother. They are responsible for Sultan's woes and his ultimate demise. Even Shanaya was also unnecessary stuborn and confused kind hearted.

She has suffered so much in her life that it makes sense now why she is so rigid & strong-minded - been in an abusive marriage, lost a loving husband so early in life, lost her unborn child, and raised her daughter all alone (without the support of her only family member / her sister - who doesn't care much about her) - she has been through a lot. Also, now I understand why she despised Awal khan in the initial episodes when they were in the same frame.

I don’t know what you or others felt about it but the entire race between Shaista and Nathamy, especially Shaista’s dialogues and repeatedly looking back and that entire sequence for that matter seemed very caricaturish to me. After this latest episode of Sang-e-Mah I completely agree with Hassan, Zarsanga and Marjaan are partners in crime. But we still don't know why they both did what they did. Hilmand and we still don't know something about this story. The best part for me this episode was the jhaar pilana Sabz Ali's mother meted out to the village elders outside the mosque. She was on 🔥. The writer gave her such wonderful lines. An amen left my lips after each of her statements. That scene was performed to perfection by the actress 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Azlan's behavior towards azka was absolutely right .. because when he was begging for the support from azka for Shanaya's Case .. azka was very rude with him and she refused to help him very rudely .. 😑 and now azka will feel very guilty that Shanaya lost her life because of azka's family and azka didn't even bother to do something in favour of shanaya .. and now as she has fulfilled her biggest desire (to be a doctor) it also happened only because of shanaya's husband whom she used to hate all her life .. now this is the turning point for azka... she will feel ashamed of her selfish behavior and eventually she will start liking azlan...

Aamna, you usually have it right, but you have missed on Azka’s character. It is selfish, of course, and Yumna has nailed it with expressions as well as body language . Why do we always want our heroines to be perfect little gems? She is a normal, average girl who puts herself first. She may not be totally likeable, but she is real. Yumna showed courage in accepting a role that’s on the edge re likeability.

I watched the last episode Mere Humsafar. For me sinf e aahan is no.more fun, its literally about aarzoo rabia and mahajabeen, I mean we aren't moving to shaista , sidra and pariwash track.. rabia and mahajabeen track is annoying now it's been 17 episodes and still it hasn't properly reveal.. iam no longer interested in them and arzoo.. shaista sidra and pariwash are more fun.. One observation Hasan, two comments you made gave a negative message so I want to point out as I don’t think you meant it that way. Comment 1: it’s a bit strange that you equated Rabia’s misunderstanding driven action to deliberate lying of Mahjabeen. People should not be given that message that it’s okay to take wrong actions if you are hurt in love because it is explainable. Lying is never explainable and should not be taken lightly. In our culture for some reason lying is taken lightly. Comment #2: you mentioned last week that you are sure that Sonia of jo Bichar gae” must have committed suicide as the kind of person she was, she would not have let something happen to her. Taking your life to avoid rape is not an honorable action that we want to associate with courageous women. The honorable act would be that she survived and lived her life with courage. Our women should know that it is not a honorable act to take your own life. It is a grave sin. Usually Amna corrects you when you make comments without thinking but maybe she is in her birthday zone. 😊. I know you guys don’t really think that way so pointing out. This is not the only character written by Qaisra Hayat to have problems in their character development/ arc. The drama serial Jo Tu Chahay had a similar problem with its lead characters , particularly the male and female lead. I am specifically referencing that serial because, Qaisra Hayat has given us gems like Alif Allah aur Inssan. A drama with equally dynamic characters and plot.

I've stopped watching ishq e laa but watched it this week just to see azlan insulting azka😂 and I actually felt good that he showed azka her place...I love yumna zaidi but azka is so not likeable since the very first episode all she has to say is 'main doctor kaise banungi', 'hum kitne gareeb hain' that's it. She didn't even care about shanaya.

Amna and hasan I've been watching ishq e laa and your reviews from very start. I think you're being a little unfair, I know there are flaws in writing and execution but the way you guys have just wasted the whole thing is bad. Azka is neither a likable nor a white character, we feel nothing for her thats what they want us to. Azlan and azka both are going to be on a journey of self discovery. They both aren't likable. It is how the characters have been written. Azka is like that amd i think yumna has perfomed really well that we don't empathize with her and Maybe this is intentional. And yes in that last scene haven't you seen yumna's expressions? That shock, disbelief and realization was so apt and well performed.

About Talaqs, it is not advised to give three talaqs at the same time but if a guy does theyre divorced completely. Khula has the same status as talaq and cannot be undone if complete. The only difference in AMK was that the girl got khula without the involvement of the husband so maybe there is a chance of reconciliation.
