Very considerate Chef. Good sharing. Basically this is konlou charsiew mee, some restaurant also name it caramel bbq chicken noodle/rice. And like chef mentioned, they taste quite close too. In HK, wanton mee is soup base. Maybe this can be another vidro?

Thank you for showing me how to make halal char siew. I am a Chinese convert and I miss all the Chinese food. Wanted to find from supermarket but there isn’t any frozen one as I wanted to do char siew fried rice which my mum used to cook for me. Dice char siew with glass prawn actually.

Chicken Char Siew is just as tasty as Pork Char Siew but chicken Char Siew is healthier. The chicken char Siew taste much much better if we marinate with brandy👍💕

Hello 😀, So I’ve looked it up and apparently the level of ethanol is not high enough for it to be restricted to Muslims, that’s why it’s sold in the general isle in the supermarkets and not the non-halal section. But yea it’s understandable if you’re still not comfortable, honestly I’ve never tried using red yeast powder so I’m not really sure. But according to what I’m reading it has a fermented taste, so it might just work. If you do give it a go, pls do let me know how it goes ok, I’m sure there’re others that might wanna know as well.
