One of our homeschool share your progress lessons was exactly this. How to properly fold the American flag. My kids passed with flying colors. This should be taught in school, sadly it’s not.

I had a flag I rescued from the trash when I was a kid. Over the years, while I was out of the house, different people moved it around and it ended up in a laundry room cabinet. When I finally got around to dealing with it as an adult, I discovered it was irrecoverably stained. At which point, it was retired through cutting and burning, as prescribed.

Learned this back in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Found out only that American flag has one, unique way to fold the flag. All other national flags are just folded in a rectangular, flat shape.
