I discovers this video via the "Liked Videos" playlist on Linkuru's (another Rocket League KZbinr) channel. I watched the video and throughout I was intrigued by the quality of it's content, and so I proceeded to click on the channel icon below the video, once it had finished. Suprisingly, scrolling down I noticed a lack of uploaded videos, and following this I checked the subscriber count. I must say the pure professionalism had me assuming this KZbinr had many hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Surely "Sir Timbers" deserves a bigger following than his current number. Thank you for creating such great content and keep doing what you're doing, Sir.

Another great video! I do have some information that I want to add though. You actually have a lot of control on how your car lands with the quicker method of the half-flip. If you get the timing and technique down properly, you can consistently turn 180 degrees and land on your wheels, straight, without ever needing to air-roll. So the principles are: 1) The more vertical, vs horizontal, the thumbstick is when you backflip the more aligned with your path and straight your car will end up after you move the thumbstick up. The inverse is also true, the more horizontal the thumbstick is when you flip the more misaligned and sideways you car will end up. However, some sideways motion can be useful for eliminating some turning after the half-flip is complete. 2) As you stated in the video, you want to wait for your car to flip some before pushing the thumbstick up. Along with that, the longer you wait the more the car will rotate vertically. If you wait less the car will rotate less vertically. If you do a proper diagonal flip, even a "very" shallow one, the car will always roll horizontally when you push up. I generally like to wait until either the bottom of the car is completely parallel with the ground or until the nose points to the ground a little before pushing up on the thumbstick. The moment you push the thumbstick depends on how quickly you push it up as well. So I suspect the point to push up is slightly different for everyone. 3) You can make minute adjustments to the cars angle after pushing up; this is to pivot the car if you end up a little misaligned with your resulting path and momentum. It's a little awkward at first but with time and practice you should start to pick up on how the car reacts to the different directions you push the thumbstick. NOTE: You want to push the thumbstick up with as little horizontal movement as possible before adjusting the car's yaw. (This may not be completely necessary and you may be able to get away with rolling the thumbstick while maintaining a proper flip) 4) Wait for the car to gain some height before backflipping. Doing so will give you a little margin for error and more time to adjust after the flip is complete. 5) Be patient when performing this motion. It's not a very quick process, speaking in terms of human capability. You don't have to make super fast and accurate movements to perform this properly. You just have to get the timing and technique right. (Sorry about the first post if anyone read it by now. I had to verify to make sure I'm not giving misinformation.)

For new people to this tactic, the diagonal half flip is much easy for people with default controls. You don't have to mess with the air roll button that much and it's faster.

I have a tip for going fast backwords, this is useful when you are facing your opponent's goal and the ball is behind you, on its way to your goal. what you do is this: do a fast backward flip (jump, then hold the driving thumbstick down then jump again) for a split second, you will be upsidedown, when you are in this position boost briefly so you gain speed, but don't do it for too long or else you'll lose speed you can repeat this maneuver multiple times to quickly bet to the other side of the pitch when you are facing the opposite direction This has saved me a couple of goals online.

i discovered this just like you. in dynamic situation when i going forward and spamming flips i suddenly turned in mid air and was standing wrongsided. it took me 1 year to get what i was doing wrong (im stupid) i always thought its because of uneven maps like wasteland. then i realised how to perform it on purpose (i may look like a late bloomer on this) but you gotta know i am a diehard keyboard and mouse player. incase you guys wanna know how its performed on kmb (std setting) double right click while holding "s" release "s" when beeing half way in the flip and hit "w" for half a second and simutaneously hold "shift and "a" or "d" until you land. and i realy recommend you to it for XonX kick offs for going back half flip and get the boost behind you.

Quick tip coming from a total amateur, the crucial point of the half flip is holding the left thumb stick forward long enough to fight the backwards flip. If you keep back flipping while trying to roll on your side (the final part of the half flip) it's because you haven't cancelled all of the backwards flip momentum yet. Make sure you hold forward on the thumb stick until there is no resistance, then roll. This wasn't 100% clear in the video so I thought there might be others like me who got stuck.

What about this form: use the left stick to rotate backwards 180 degrees while boosting a little bit in the preferred direction, do a forward dodge flip (upside-down); after the dodge, boost some more while rotating 180 sideways. I've almost achieved supersonic speed with this. It doesn't let you complete the maneuver very quickly, but it achieves a high velocity with one single fluid motion, compared to just doing a quick half flip as the ones explained in this video and then continuing to increase your speed.
