One nice detail to add is to rotate the wrist so that the thinnest part of your wrist is the contact point, it makes it just that bit more uncomfortable for the guy on bottom. Sweet pass!

Is there any danger with a gi/no gi baseball choke prior to getting the body lock? I have been using the reverse body lock position.

I know this is a year old but I don’t think so because in order to finish the baseball bat choke your hips need to be mobile, and here in the vid Josh explains how and why you need to shut down the hips in order to prevent guard retention as well as other attacks like the Kimura among other things. They can grab the baseball bat grip but if you keep your chin tucked you can tough that out and let them burn their arms out. If their hips are mobile then yes, you definitely need to be concerned about that choke.
