Movie theaters are starting to open back up and long-delayed blockbuster sequels are finally starting to be released like Fast and the Furios 9, A Quiet Place 2, and The Conjuring 3, so naturally Mike and Jay decided to talk about a small, surreal British movie. It's Censor!

I think this movie might be trying to show the absurdity of saying these movies cause the violence they portray. From the man who eats the face not actually seeing the movie, to the director Fred North flat out saying the horror already exists my art just imitates life or something like that. Enid going off the deep end and killing people is catalyzed by the fact she has clear mental issues caused by her sister disappearing and clearly not getting the help or the closure she needs, not the movies she so desperately clings to "to create a story', as a side character says at some point. Very interesting film, definitely worth a watch.

The main character also needs to be in control. She mentions wanting to keep people safe thru her job of editing these horrifying movies. When she first confesses to her "sister" and realizes shes lost her mind, it shows her having a remote control in her hand that she used to edit the nasties with. Then all of the sudden the film switches to the "too good to be true" ending because she is editing reality. Overall glad I paused this review to watch the film. Its interesting.

This is how my mom and sister constantly act for ANYTHING they aren’t into. My dad at least tried when I was a kid (15 years ago with Pokémon and manga) so he’s knows enough for us to have brief discussions and we have a better relationship for it. I also always tried harder to understand his interests and subconsciously I think a lot of my own efforts came from my respect for his. Even trying helps your son out tremendously and even though he probably can’t fully appreciate it now, I just wanna let you know how meaningful that can be.

I think they cut that song because it was an unlicensed cover tune, I might be wrong though. I know for sure they cut the Bob Dylan cover in the final episode for that reason though. Also on one of the musical numbers there's a "band member" who isn't in the band. He just got into shot holding a musical instrument and no one questioned him. The band (Madness I think) spotted it after filming was already done and they weren't allowed to do a retake.

I sometimes wonder if Jay has a draft of a screenplay he’s written of this kind of film, and that if he does-better yet-he gives it life by making it into an actual film. I know it’s one thing to recognize greatness and talk about it insightfully, but Jay’s knowledge and passion for these kinds of films-and his clear creativity in various ways and ideas for how scenes in films they discuss could be done better, etc.-make me think he could really do it and do it well. Regardless, at least he’ll always give these awesome, insightful talks, and it’s great to see Mike’s openness in being in on this one.
