I think it's worth mentioning that the visuals in the film were achieved almost entirely by practical effects. It wasn't water tinted with a digital effect, it was 50,000 gallons of stage blood pumped through a rain machine for example. The only thing CGI or digital effects were used for was to add in extra fire or to remove wires and equipment used to make the practical effects.
@matthewhearn99104 жыл бұрын
I actually just realized this myself: I saw it in the first ever audience test screening, in Orange, CA, with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell in the audience with me. Digital effects are *never* done when they do that phase of test screening, but what I saw was identical to the unrated version of the film.

@simonmcnamee6195 жыл бұрын
There are so many special editions because there's a distinct fan base of Evil Dead, and there's a niche brand recognition of it as a franchise - which means there's always 1. people ready to get into it, and 2. dipshits who will buy everything with the name slapped on it because they're that attached to it. I'm not knocking either group - I'm a dipshit myself, but it is merely an accounting decision.

The door closing sound effeect at 0:56 is the same on from Project Zomboid. God, 2020 has clearly been hard on me and I've been indoors too much. Can't believe I noticed that.

18:38 I agree. It is technically shot better and the production value is way greater, but it lacks the charm that the original had. Also something about the lower grade production is more memorable, like a home video or something. I felt the same way about the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It looked like a very polished product and had tons of gore, whereas the original was way creepier due to its video quality, implied gore (save for the one person hung on the hook), and lack of soundtrack.

That last segment with Evil Plinkett is so well filmed. I would love to see a feature length horror movie you guys put together.

The scene at the end of the video is better than the entire 2013 remake
