I would honestly love a Terminator Western that follows a T800 from the moment it appears in the past, with absolutely no context given on the target or mission, and just watch it dispassionately push through any obstacles or situations that arise as it goes, until an eventual climax where the target is finally met and is the first character to know anything about what's going on and what this unkillable metal man even is Little to no dialogue, brutal action used sparingly, following an increasingly visually battered Terminator - essentially like a monster movie where you follow the monster, with a heavy does of the classic Western man-with-no-name

Dorian Gray It's a franchise, it's a property, it once had people in awe and emotionally invested and now irks them with every new iteration, it probably shouldn't hinder enjoyment of the original two movies but it can be annoying to have something you used to like now officially tied, even loosely, to something you don't like and be reminded of it, so OP prefers to disregard them. Way to go alienating your audience, guys. b) You do NOT make yet another T-1000 rip-off. The original one was awesome. He's one of the best movie villains ever, and just copying him is fucking infuriating because it's lazy and insults the audience. Come up with something else instead of making the viewers wish they were watching T2, instead, film-makers. Crikey. Oh, and Emilia Clarke really was awful in this. Wow.

The acting was good and you cared about what happened, even though it was going down familiar territory, it still brought a lot of new things to the table. It’s somehow convinced us that a women has to be angry, insecure, completely lacking in human warmth, and bereft of any kind of charm or charisma in order to be “strong”. Just to prove my point this article used the film Southpaw as a basis: "Even Southpaw’s own director thinks the spot could have handled it without being so heavy-fisted. “I was concerned about [the revelation], for sure,” Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer) tells EW. “I still am. And I spoke my mind about it.” Fuqua is just the latest director this summer-movie season to voice disappointment about the trailer for his own movie. But he also points to the underlying motivation behind such a strategy. “The audience sometimes, I guess, needs a little bit more [plot], especially for this type of movie,” he says. “So I had to roll with it. I trust them, [Southpaw‘s distributor] the Weinstein Company.” (Southpaw opened at the box office to a better-than-expected $16.5 million.)" And he’s right to trust them. According to experts in the trailer-making business, the more audiences know, the likelier they are to go. “There was a lot of discussion internally whether to show the death of the wife,” says Matt Brubaker, president of theatrical at Trailer Park, the agency that edited the preview for Southpaw. “But it was decided to show more of the good, so to speak. People have felt burned in the past. If someone’s going to pay $20 to go on opening weekend to see this movie, they want to know that they are making a pretty good investment.” And that is borne out in the rigorous focus testing that studios perform. “As much as people complain that trailers give away too much,” says Brubaker, “nine times out of 10, the more of the plot you give away, the more interest you garner from the audiences. Audiences respond to the trailers with more of the movie.” “We prefer to be mysterious,” says Dan Asma, co-owner of trailer company Buddha Jones. “That’s what good marketing is. But what can we do when testing and focus grouping consistently say that numbers spike when you give away more of the story.” ew.com/article/2015/07/27/trailer-spoilers-southpaw/

There was a kernel of a good storyline at this movie's center -- the idea of "A SkyNet who won" (T-5000), then, in its free time, started figuring out how to reach out into other timelines, even allying with alternate-timeline SkyNets so as to join forces and conquer additional Earths. They could have built a new trilogy on that concept -- which was, I think, the plan -- getting into some swirly time-travel ideas. But instead they used the temporal concept as goofy fanservice: Good John Connor is now Evil Cyborg John Connor, Old Arnie got futuristic goop, etc. Six years later, the Marvel franchise sort of did this with their "Ultron who won" (Infinity Ultron) concept from the animated What If series.
@marshmallowok9 жыл бұрын
I knew I was in for a bad time when it opened with five minutes of narration. One thing I've noticed in every movie after T2 is the terminators don't feel right. When they fight each other they knock each other around like ragdolls, which looks ridiculous and immediately breaks my suspension of disbelief. They also have unrealistic strength, like in this one a terminator just punched through a concrete wall like he was Superman. I'm not an engineer or a robotics expert, but even if a terminator is 10x as strong as a person I don't think that's in the cards. It was kinda cool when the T-1000 broke off a piece of his arm and threw it at them. I'm sure the staff were proud of that one. But then you think, wait, why didn't the T2 T-1000 ever do that? This is why sequels and reboots are dangerous. Even a little thing like this makes you go huh? What? The problem with a lot of these over the top modern action movies is that when you stray so far from reality there's no tension anymore because you know the hero will do something ridiculous to save themselves. The end of T1 when Sarah is crawling away from the torso of the terminator is way more exciting than watching people get punched across the room or somehow living after a school bus flips over 37 times. One is comic book shit, the other is somewhat grounded in reality and more relatable and something you might have a nightmare about. At least it was kinda funny.

Shin Seiki Evan She's below average. Her plotline is easily the worst on GoT. I'd rather watch Brienne meander about the woods with Podrick. At least they have chemistry.
@hailmary72839 жыл бұрын
ロックマン I feel like her plot line isn't bad, it's just the way its handled that isn't very good. Her character does have to make a lot of tough moral decisions that should tear her apart. However, the only time we see that is when she locks up the dragons. Normally she just makes decisions with ridiculous amounts of confidence. It would be far more interesting to see her as a character who feels more forced into the role of ruler and feels nervous and reluctant most of the time. This also makes sense given her characters story of being treated like shit her whole life. I haven't read the books so maybe something in them explains it better than I can.
@fuguilist9 жыл бұрын
hailmary7283 Yeah, but even with the material she's given, I don't believe Emilia Clarke has the acting chops to communicate subtlety. She's either shouting or demure, and any emotional impact from the story is dampened by her terrible delivery. You know, Daenerys had a moral dilemma of opening the fighting pits in Meereen; she had an exchange with the muscley mercenary guy about executing the city elders; she has an abrasive relationship with Jorah. And in any of those cases, I couldn't tell what she's supposed to be feeling.
@corsair43099 жыл бұрын
I agree with everyone here. I think it's safe to conclude that Emilia isn't the new Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett. As the show progresses I find her to be less and less emotionally present and more and more present at the production set buffet.
@hailmary72839 жыл бұрын
ロックマン Good point. I think the main problem with her acting in deciding to reopen the fighting pits decision is she was always mad. There isn't really a range of emotions she feels. I don't know how much of that is on her as an actress and how much of it is on the directing for not giving her better ideas on how to play the scene.

weavehole The question is, how can you know anything about a script? How could you ever assume that you can control it? They have terrible actors in this movie.
