The rollermine inside the APC at 4:58 is an entity that controls the APC called a npc_apcdriver, it basically drives on a path and will shoot it's gun and/or rockets when it's told to.

@@myth0572 At one point when you revisit city-17, you are in the apartments where you first get chased by the CPs, when you get to the exit where the playground is, there's a TV in a collapsed hallway that plays the distorted trumpets and I believe it displays the G-man on the screen too. Anyway, you can pass by that hallway and the sound will always play but it's easy to ignore it since you can't hear it very well, which to me, makes it all the more creepy. Especially given the fact that you are completely alone in that whole building with that haunted playground just beyond those doors as you hear gunfire off in the distance. I'm just a pansy that gets creeped out by ambience however, so it's probably not very creepy to anybody else.

Fun fact: you don’t even need to cheat to see/kill the hidden Combine soldier, since it is possible to obtain a single grenade before reaching that point. If you throw it just right, the explosion will fling his body in front of the grate.

yes exactly. and this is also why the APC at 11:11 is driveable. APCs are in the vehicle objects class just like the jeep and the airboat. that is why they require a driver npc in the first place.

Prior to Nova Prospekt, when you are given the pheromones and your antliom squad in the cave, if you throw your pheropod and leave the antlions there, you can walk through the loading screen to Nova Prospekt and get more antlions. You can return to the cave and your previous pack will still be there, and the new pack will still be following you. You can throw your pheropods to keep the new pack there and repeat as much as you want and grow an army of antlions that will follow you throughout Nova Prospekt. You can do this with any portion of the chapter so long as you can get far enough away from the antlions to spawn in more.

I've known about the bits with the soundtrack and wanted to make a video on it for years, never heard anyone else comment on it before. Here's a few other notable references and Easter eggs from the soundtrack: -A further note on the title 'CP Violation', since CP violation is a scientific term relating to broken C and P symmetry and is a double meaning for Civil Protection Violation, the name could also be referring to all the junk loaded in the canals breaking the symmetry. Funnily enough there's also another track that plays a little later in the same chapter and is called 'Broken Symmetry'. -'The Innsbruck Experiment' refers to Gordon's previous experience at the University of Innsbruck which is a school in Austria in real life. Innsbruck is famous for their physics department which studies quantum teleportation (recurring themes in Half-life 2). Judith Mossman and Gordon were both striving to get employed at Black Mesa for the same position. In Half-Life 2 Eli comments to Gordon that she would have taken Gordon's place and would have been in the test chamber on the day of the incident, however Black Mesa ultimately chose Gordon instead due to him having went to Innsbruck. -'Requiem for Ravenholm' plays as Gordon leaves Ravenholm. The word 'requiem' means 'a Mass for the dead' in the Catholic church, relating to Father Grigori who is a Catholic priest and the zombies. Father Grigori is also Italian and he gives Gordon a SPAS-12 shotgun. The SPAS-12 is a shotgun made by an Italian company called Franchi. To go a step further my guess is that Father Grigori is a Roman Catholic specifically. -'Probably Not a Problem' is a quote from Half-Life 1 where a scientist says that as Gordon is ready to insert the test sample into the anti-mass spectrometer. -'Combine Harvester' is a cut track and refers to the Combine as a combine harvester tractor - a big machine that threshes everything in its path, much like how the Combine have drained earth of many resources. - 'You're Not Supposed To Be Here' is a quote from the G - Man in Half-Life 2's cut hazard course. Half-Life 2 would have had a hazard course similar to Half-Life 1. The story was that the G-Man stuck Gordon in some sort of simulation during his stasis between Half-Life 1 and Half-Life to keep him mentally and physically sharp. When Gordon would try to escape the hazard course he would hear muffled voices (vague voices lol) about his decaying cognitive state and becoming a vegetable. Gordon would reach the end of a hallway with the G-Man and begin to enter a trance. The G- Man would say- "You're not supposed to be here. As a matter of fact, you're not. Get back where you belong and forget about all this. Until...we meet...again." -'Neutrino Trap' is a renamed song from Half-Life 1 originally called 'Hurricane Strings.' The renamed title is actually a really nerdy joke. A neutrino is a type of particle that can only be seen when in a body of water. When the song first played in Half-Life 1 Gordon was entering the freezer room from the office complex. Since the freezer room had ice and ice is frozen water, any neutrinos would have been trapped. -'Biozeminade Fragment' is a really old and obscure in-joke. Leading up to Half-Life 2's launch some Half-Life fans were either talking to each other or asking Valve if Half-Life 2 would have biozeminade fragments. Biozeminade fragments are completely made up, they don't exist so it was just troll joke. Marc Laidlaw who has gone on record of stating that he named most of if not all of the tracks in Half-Life 2, explained that he named that one track 'Biozeminade Fragment' as a joke in return, that Half-Life 2 actually does have a biozeminade fragment. -'Shadows Fore and Aft' is actually a remix of 'Lab Practicum' -'CP Violation' uses the track 'Nova Prospekt' as a sample -'Ravenholm Reprise' contains what sounds like Combine radio chatter. This is because Ravenholm was originally going to have Combine soldiers sweeping the area for Gordon. This can be shown in Half-Life 2's E3 2003 demo. -'Pulse Phase' is actually a section taken from 'Dark Energy' and slowed down -'Sand Traps' is a sample taken from sampling kit. When sped up it's actually a bunch of bamboo sticks being drummed and rattled

All while the other gibs land around, acting either as obstacles or ramps to jump over terrain and save split-seconds. Then the slab finally hits the ground causing an earthquake that gives you a final push, before the car rolls out of control and lands in a trench. You and Alyx climb out of the car, while still in that trench covering from a huge wave of tree-boulder-metal shrapnel. After that the dust settles, you and Alyx step out of the ditch and see a massive crater with what appears to be a giant tombstone sticking out. In the background, the detonated Citadel core now proceeds to create a superportal. Player graviguns the jalopy back on a driveable terrain, and Gordon & Alyx head towards a nearby communication point to contact "White Forest" and see if they survived that.
