Wonder how we beat the F-150?! Well... it just comes down to some basic physics. Most tow tests are actually about the weight of the vehicle, not the torque they produce. So how did our little 2500lb Cyber Truck out tow a 4600lb F-150!? Well, it's pretty simple. The F-150 was in fact in RWD mode only. Trucks are designed to carry heavy loads in the bed, which means when a truck is unloaded, the rear end is quite light. We know the maximum gross vehicle of the Ford is around 7500lbs. That means, when fully loaded, you can assume there's roughly 3750lbs on the front axle, and 3750lbs on the rear axle. If that holds true, that means when there is no load, if the truck only weighs 4600lbs - 3750lbs balanced in the front... boom the back of the truck unweighted probably only weighs about 1150lbs. Less than the cyber truck. Hence, the Cyber truck was able to win.

What is the range, efficiency(wh per mile), and max charging speed.
@patrickio34014 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you should do a video testing it
@MattsAwesomeStuff4 жыл бұрын
Watt-hours per mile is going to vary hugely with speed. The Wh/m spec that's relevant for an EV is when traveling at highway speeds, because range doesn't matter in a city unless you're a taxi, every vehicle can recharge at night and be full next morning. So to properly test it at highway speeds, the Cyber Half Truck would have to actually go highway speeds, which would have to be on a private road since it's not street legal, and would be ridiculously unsafe. It's functionally a portable reverse-guillotine that launches your neck at the edge of the frame during a collision. However, using 500kg and about 0.75m^2 as a cross sectional area, at 100km/h (60mph), it should use about 83 watt-hours per mile, about half of which is overcoming rolling resistance and half of which is overcoming air resistance. That's about 1/4 of what a Model S uses per mile, but considering the size and weight, seems just about correct.
@gabrielschoene57254 жыл бұрын
@@MattsAwesomeStuff always appreciate some good math. I think 80 watt hours per mile is a fair number, but I don't think you'd be able to sustain highway speeds. They are using a gold cart diff (probably would overheat), and their motors redline around highway speeds. I assume they have to use flux weakening to keep up such high speeds which would kill their motor efficiency. That being said they are using pm motors which are more efficient when run at the right speeds.

The 1250 hp gas turbine of a T-80U (1986) outputs 4,395 Nm at 3,000 rpm, the 1500 hp gas turbine of an M1 Abrams (1980) gets 5,355 Nm at 1,000 rpm and the 1500 hp diesel engine of the Leopard 2 (1979) provides 4,699 Nm at 1650 rpm. Love the truck and couldn't believe it when it pulled the F150, but, realized that you were only using RWD on the F150. I still say it would have been better making the truck 3/5ths size rather than 1/2 just for the interior space and the ability to make a door safely. This gave me ideas about converting my ford E150 conversion Van to electric.

I believe that you can license golf carts, in the U.S., so this might qualify for that, but i don't know if Canada has the same rule exemptions. For those you'd need turn signals, brake lights, mirrors, and maybe a seat belt. Probably still not worth the time but it would be cool.

How do you think the motors would hold up with a transmission? I have a cobalt with a blown engine and was thinking of things I could do with it when this project came to mind. Thoughts on EV conversations?
@foxxyytofficial4 жыл бұрын
install motors in car transmissions is common with less expensive EV conversions, normally people use AC motors from HPEVS (AC-35, AC34X2, AC-50), or DC motors from NetGain (the famous Warp9, TransWarp9 and Warp11), Advanced DC Motors, and even forklift motors with cheap conversions for tests or small range
