12:56 I would say Flowey is wrong, Frisk problem isn't that they are empty, it's that they have too many people inside lol.
@HalfBreadChaos Жыл бұрын
Fair logic. I guess the way I see it, when Flowey says "You're empty inside" he doesn't mean Frisk/Chara lacks a SOUL, for he says but a moment later "you and your stolen soul." What Flowey means is, the things that make up a monster's SOUL, "love, hope, compassion" are missing. Your SOUL is empty. The Chat didn't choose to genocide because they wanted to do a genocide run, or even because Mad Dummy was impossible, they chose it, because it was the easiest path forward. We had hundreds of souls, but we chose the option that is devoid of compassion, hope, or love. So in this way, chat is indeed "just like Flowey."
@KinokoFry Жыл бұрын
I agree this is what Flowey means (your soul is empty of humanity) but it does slightly make me wonder if there’s a very outside possibility that Chara really isn’t human - given we know nothing of their past and the calculated extent of their evil - not that humans can’t be evil but they do truly feel like a demon of some sort in the end, and their evil feels SO unambiguous. We don’t see it develop or see any complexities (unlike Asriel/Asgore), it just is.

This video made me realize just how perfect Undertale is for this kind of thing. Like if you tried to do the same thing in a game like Minecraft or Terraria there are just too many things to go for that no groups would be made and it would end up quite individualistic. So in an ironic sense the more freedom you give the players the less they would feel they have. But in contrast, if you tried in a game like Spelunky, because the only goal is to get to the end, there wouldn’t be a need for varied groups since the goal of most would just be getting to the end. But Undertale has both small actions that don’t mean much in the grand scheme and big choices that do matter. Causing this infighting between those who see a bigger picture (getting to the end no matter the cost) and those who are focusing on the now (doing specific things in what ways they see as best). For example the mad dummy group was trying to get to the end in what they thought was the most efficient manner but then others who wanted to spare specific characters like Toriel even though it went against the efficient playthrough. It’s just so neat to this tribal warfare in such a modern way.

12:24 Yo I'm in the video! Really enjoyed this Twitch plays! It was fun to make a narrative out of it and try to help progress the story while trying to get some story in it. For those curious, Radio Chara was made partly because Chara did less narrating in this playtho (thanks to things like the hole puzzle) and music was being played throughout, so they just mainly focused on making music here while being a radio host for all the other voices in Frisk's head.... Also giving commentary on certain events such as this.

6:02 (That's Me!) Glad you went over the first, what, 20000 hours of the run? Lol, can't wait to see how you explain the diagrams we had to make for the Undyne section! There were a couple of things I wanted to add, though: 1. By the time we had saved over the first kill of the run, I would say a good 70% of Mercy Gang (not called that until later) had left. By the end of the run, we only had two or three members, so the upsets caused were actually done by a very select few people! (or the trolls) 2. For most of the stream people had no idea what the commands were. Some big ones were the left-priority you mentioned, but also big features like stop and how banning/unbanning worked. There was a lot of infighting over what to type and not type, with some people even self censoring saying stuff like "GUYS DON'T SAY R#GHT1!1!!" (I also take credit for organizing the leaf puzzle, I was trying to communicate to everyone that stop overwrote left, and I think it helped. Or maybe the trolls had just filtered out at the tenth hour. It's also where the start of the color strat, later used unsuccessfully in the Undyne section, began.) Either way, the run was a lot of fun (despite the, ahem, technical difficulties), good video!

This video took 2 months and got less views than average by a significant margin. So uh... I might have to summarize even harder to be honest... It's tricky to watch 10 hours of footage, and I endeavor to make these a fair sort of "Here's the Let's Play for those of you who don't want to sit and watch 10 straight hours of walking into a wall." So I try my best not to skip any beats unless they are terribly painful to sit through, or to make sense of. (Watching chat restart the ruins again and again, while investigating the reasoning behind each reset, marking the timestamps, and splicing the footage sounds sisyphean, and these videos are taking long enough already). But! If I lived in a perfect world, free of Deadlines, and the need to pay bills and/or my fellow artists.... yeah bruh I'd totally make these 20 minutes a pop. It would probably take me like 2 years to finish coverage of the neutral route, but it would be the most definitive way to enjoy the runs for sure.

I might have an idea for the “left takes priority over right” thing, it won’t make left and right cancel out, but (maybe) have right take priority over left. if (right_arrow) is pressed { Move right } if (left_arrow) is pressed { move left } To do this, find the if statement where it checks for the left arrow being pressed, copy it, delete it, and paste it after the if statement for the right arrow being pressed. I have no idea if it will work or not, or what it will do.
