I'm going to go against the grain here, seems like a dick move to walk up with a camera and sticking a mic in a guys face when he's facing all these consequences, as if he wanted him to lash out angrily. The reporter didn't do anything illegal, but it comes off as he desperately wanted the guy to get angry so they could handcuff him on camera. The guy was already caught, had 10 cases on him. Why antagonize him with cameras and police near by? What was the best possible outcome? Obviously it was to send this guy back to jail for assault and more views.

@@sunrae7680 there are several things you can do to lessen your chance of a bad contractor. Contact the local architecture Association or architect. Ask for references at contractor supply companies, local mom-and-pop lumberyard. If you have a contractor's name you can check with the City inspection and Licensing, how many complaints do they have?. Never rely on references, sometimes it's the best friend of the contractor. Get addresses to projects they built and go inspect them, then when you are at the inspection department you can check to see if the contractor actually built it. It’s sad when some jerk who is clearly NOT part of the construction industry can, as you say reflect badly on it. And that goes for any industry. I have so many friends and colleagues always asking me to build them something or assess someone they have doing a job for them because they are worried about being ripped off by a scammer. I’m not in the construction business, but am a serious hobbyist. I’m a nurse, farmer, boatbuilder, built my own house, own my own collection of ‘farm toys’ (excavator, tracked dumper, 4x4 8ton tipper-truck, and a couple of sheds full of metal and wood working tools).

I will never forget the guy/contractor who ripped off people for a few hundred GRAND where I lived. They chased him down in Florida and arrested him. Brough him back to face the charges. TV crew met him at the airport and I sear this is what the guy said when asked why did he steal the peoples money, "He response was "I didn't think they would track me down and arrest me and he was almost crying" :) The people never got much back. He had blown the money. It's so EASY for people to scam people. This is why they do it. No one does any background checks, they just write these people the check.

Arrested while out on bond? Yes, $50,000.00 bond "🤣revoked🤣".. Plus new charge for assault.. Who ever he convinced to pay his bond can start coming up with his bond again to lose that as well.. Maybe he used his house as collateral to bond out.. In which case the property should be sold and all victims reimbursed for their losses plus a little interest.. Now that would be true karma.. His ripping off homeowners should cost him his home to pay them back.. Now that would be True Justice..

I was a contractor for 40 years before I retired. This is how I did it successfully without one fail. When the contractor shows up with men and a substantial amount of material in your driveway you pay 25%. When the job half-completed you pay another 25%. When the job is complete you pay 40% and hold back 10% for 30 days. This method keeps the momentum of the job going and no one can take advantage.
