My absolute dream. Having said that, the 40c is quite amazing.

I was invited aboard a 58 a few years ago in the med, It has now been replaced by the 57 but at the time she blew me away. The quality of the finish and general layout was first class, made my french mass production boat look second class. But as they say, you get what you pay for or in my case what you can only just afford.

Hi Ian there is nothing wrong with production sailboats, we are buying one it's all about budget;) but you are so right about the HR they are First class🙃

Amel 50 would be my ideal bluewater yacht. But must say the Hallberg is really close behind. Thanks for the walkthrough.

We are glad you liked it and thank you for watching and commenting, we like Amel but there is just something about the HR we love more;)

Just by the use I agree but I really think that the Amel is way to cold and modern, don’t like the layout of the boat. A mixture between the both would be nice.

This and the Amel 50 would be my choices.I would have to sail each one, in multiple seas to determine the winner. If l went with Halberg Rassey it would have to have the hard top,In my humble opinion l would not want to go Blue water sailing without it.I like the Steering position and set up on the Amel, closed in and very comfy for long passages. My 2 cents

I actually got the price list from the yard for this boat. It's a great vessel, especially with carbon rig. But it's way over-priced, the target group is very wealthy people who can buy anything regardless of cost.

Hi Fredrik, I would have to disagree with you there, There is a huge amount of work, skills and equipment that goes into one of these sailboats. The quality is super yacht standard and experience that is second to none. Yes, they are expensive for everyday people like me but it gives us something to aim for. We are buying a Hanse 348 as our first boat, then we will go into the Hanse 41. Then if we work hard invest well get to retirement it will be Hallberg Rassy;) Thank you for watching, What sailboat do you have? or are you looking?;)

You'd love to be a guest of someone who owns an HR50? That wouldn't be too bad I suppose, but I'd prefer to be the owner!

There is no doubt about the quality of HALLBERG RASSYs but I can't find ways to like their boats general layout (cockpit and interior).

Because I love steering a boat from behind, the ideal blue water boat for me would be an Allures 51.9 in the first place, followed by the Amel 50. I wouldn't call a Hallberg Rassy 50 or a Oyster 495 a blue water sailboat, at least not by modern standards. Don't get me wrong, both are beautiful sailboats. They are geared towards easy sailing and the Hallberg is certainly a really good sailor too. Both boats also have a beautiful interior. But if you buy a boat for a million dollars or euros and really want to live on it, other things are more important. Above all, you need a safe ship with a lot storage space. You also need a sailing plan that you can easily adapt to different weather conditions. After all, the boat is ideal when the draft is variable and you can catch up your keel or sword for the most common downwind courses. Some modern boats have that. They have watertight bulkheads, a lifting keel or a centerboard, much storage space under deck, a flexible sailplan, protectet rudders and a prop, which is protectet by the keel or a skeg. Have a look at the Allures 51.9, the Amel 50, a stadtship, a bestevaer, the garcia exploration, the alubat ranges or the boats of berckemeyer design. These boats can have it all. The Allures and the Amel also have a huge cockpit that turns the deck of the ship into a living space. The Hallberg Rassy and the Oyster 495 have an fixed keel, exposed prob, two vulnerable rudders, no watertight bulkheads and a sailplan, which is easy to use, but not flexible. The Oyster doesn't even have a protected helm. The sailing plan can perhaps still be adapted to the needs of a blue water boat. But that doesn't work with the rest of the construction.

yeah, its for sailors who travel, not travelers who sail.

Financial constraints are just one of the hurdles to purchase a new HR50. All of the premium yards-Amel, Oyster, HR, Garcia, Alubat etc are currently well into Q2-Q3 of 2024 for delivery of new hulls. If you need to sell your current boat to pay for the typical 30% deposit; your then left without a boat for over 2 years

you are right Jose, it's not just the premium yards either we know of some production sailboat yards that are falling behind too. Everyone is having problems with the supply of certain items;( Hopefully, you will have a friend or two that will let you use a sailboat while you are waiting for a new one;)😁🤪

I and my partner's absolute dream boat as well 😃 but i wish they would go back to centered single helm design 😕 who knows maybe by the time we have 1.2mil Euro they would go back to original design 🤲

I wonder if it's one of those things that if your paying this sort of money they might give your single helm;) I do know that HR has loads of changeable options;) Thanks for watching guys and giving your input.
