*Halle was born on the same day as Mariah Carey (and Chloe the same day as Missy Elliott).* It all makes sense. They both are the next supremes, and will most likely be considered (genuine) legends by the time they get to their 40s if they keep this up. They both continue to develop in ways I wasn’t expecting, but the way Halle has been blossoming since coming back home… As a longtime fan, even I’m floored. Beyoncé did her job. She passed on knowledge and wisdom the same way the (genuine) music pioneers passed on knowledge to her. She did what she was supposed to and picked the right ones for the job.

She didn't use her chest voice and lower register much when she was singing with Chloe, because she was always singing harmony with Chloe. So I think she always had this, but as a style choice and practical matter we just didn't hear it much. Her higher register is particularly insane as is Chloe's low register. It only made sense as part of a duo for them to sing those parts. It's exciting to get to hear their full ranges separately, but those harmonies are amazing too. And we get to hear it all because they seem to have a healthy relationship where they can respect eachothers individuality and personal goals while still loving prioritizing their relationship as sisters.

Halle has had power, range and beauty for years! This is why I was so excited for her to be Ariel. She has this in her. I don't know what performances yall been watching. Look at them sing Fall on the Today show or the Tiny Desk performance as examples. She tamps down her power because they are a duo and must blend. Of course she's going to be able to unleash her power when she sings alone. They can't sing over each other. They have to sing as one and blend when they sing together.

I had NO idea Halle had this level of range. My wig flew clean off. Shit moved so fast I couldn't even grab it. A bitch was GLIDING through this song. Even the Walt Disney statue in the back was like 'DAMN. WHO DIS SANGIN!?'. One thing is for sure. Even if The Little Mermaid ends up being trash, Halle's songs won't be. And one thing about Disney, if you work with them once and they like what you brought to the table, they stay booking you. So I wouldn't be surprised if Halle ended up appearing in a couple of Disney projects post The Little Mermaid. Or at the very least, they will keep bringing her back for these music specials.

Looking at it from the perspective of publicists, marketing, etc. Whoever their team is, they’re really smart. Chlöe is being pushed as the “performer” and Halle is being pushed as the “actress”. Halle will be the talk of the year when The Little Mermaid releases in 2023. She’s going to take over social media by storm just like Black Panther did. Before that happens, I get the feeling C&H’s team took this opportunity to debut Chlöe as a solo artist NOW because Halle was going to be filming anyways. The way their team marketed Chlöe was perfect. As Chlöe gained a ton of recognition from the public, Halle finished filming and now they’re back together and promoting themselves at the same time, although Chlöe is being pushed more right now. It’s not a bad thing though because Halle will receive her flowers in 2023. It’s smart what their team is doing. It gives each of them enough time to shine.
