My suggestion for your dumb cane is to water it through but not leave any water in the bottom until it adapts. Let leca dry completely out, water it through again with no extra water over and over until you see roots growing. I haven’t had good luck with glass containers for plants that like to be on the dry side because there isn’t any air flow. I have to put certain plants in a pot with lots of holes and a cachepot. Hope that makes sense. 💕 Love your videos.

Thank you for sharing your “failure” in trying to keep this plant alive. I am failing with this plant as well. However, in life I learned that to FAIL is our First Attempt In Learning. Therefore, you go girl, and fail on. You will eventually learn! 🥰 Btw, you singing “The Greatest Love of All” in your prior video reminded me of Randy Watson with the band Sexual Chocolate from the movie “Coming to America”! 😂🤣🤪 I was in pain from laughter! @trefah. 4 жыл бұрын
@@carson6082 honestly I'm not sure about how mature (I'd say once you have a medium sized plant?) , from my experience one day it'll just push out a leaf that has fenestrations 😅 and nope! As the plant grows it should just naturally start to fenestrate, and too tightly bound roots could actually inhibit proper growth!

Hey hallease!!! If you want to multiply ur plants that pothos is so easy to propegate! You dont even really neeeed it to be in leca cause they can survive indefinitely in just water alone! but you can just cut in between the node and put the leaf in water and it will grow roots! I have a million pothos lol because its so easy love you!!!!

Congrats and good luck to the conversion! 😊 And thank you, Hallease, for sharing us your struggling ones because it gives others the confidence that they're not the only plant lovers having trouble with it. 💕 I spent this month doing the same and ended up losing a few Peperomias to the transition. It's good to know Sanseveria can be converted. I have a few I've been anxious to convert. . I also had used a glass vase as a self-watering planter for a Philodendron 'Burle Marx'. I found repotting it to be difficult: the narrowing of the neck made it hard sliding the plant out. It had so much water roots, I had spent a couple hours loosening the LECA free (with a stick) from one to a few at a time until I can slide the plant out.

if you want even an even fuller looking pothos you can cut up the stems even right before the nodes and stick them into leca / water /soil or you can leave them long and viney if you like that effect~ thanks for the plant update i love your video -how u mix plant stuff with real life and being real, also youre really soothing to listen to~

After almost a year I finally gave up (before I killed it) and put the dumb cane in the front yard with a free sign, and I never looked back :-). Can’t wait to see your fiddle fig in semi! We just moved and I had to leave my 6 ft fiddle leaf behind cause I knew she couldn’t take a cross country trip cooped up in a hot uhaul . :-( So I’m excited to get a new FLF and hopefully get her in semi hydro. BTB, Orchids really take to semi hydro too. Anyways, just found your vids and am really enjoying them. Your discussions and your cinematography is excellent. Cheers, Erika (Brian’s wife)

Try just putting your dumb cane in cactus soil dry from the bag and and let it be for like a month an then water it, youde be surprised how dry dumbcanes like to be. I killed my fist favorite dumb cane by over watering it in a 4in pot, so i tried again and completely left it alone and it rooted nicely. Anyway tthat was my experience... good luck!! Love all of this! FYI, those Pothos are going to keep growing from the ends. The long leafless stems you have now will remain leafless. If I were you, I'd cut each leaf off those Pothos stems and propagate (stick them) in water. With the light you get, it'll go really fast. Then you could bunch them all together and have a full, lovely Pothos that will quickly vine and be gorgeous. Just an idea! And thank you so much for your mask and hand-washing content, too!

There are a million types of Philodendron out there! They vary quite a bit, you have to ask at the spot you get it. Generally if you are having issues I find that it is either too much water or too much/not enough light. I have about 100 plants in my apartment and that tends to be the issue. Good luck and enjoy, you shouldn't feel bad as it is more than likely the plant that dies has billions of brothers and sisters out there.

Put the stub on just water no lecca... she will be fine dumb cane is literally one of the easiest plants. it grows anywhere and everywhere around rivers and such here in latin america. Your probably over caring for it. it dosnt need the old roots if they rotted then cut them off and it will be better off growing new ones from 1 stub. devide the stubs. make separete plants. hope helps.

it seems like everyone has that one 'easy' plant that just wont work for them. For me it's always been palms, ferns (rabbits foot are supposed to be easy ; _ ; ), a crazy number of succulents, and a few varieties of mint. I've also killed my own dumbcane, which are supposed to be weeds in their native habitat. I've found success with vining plants though - pothos and monstera varieties, so I've been trying to add those in. I've killed Pepperomia, and my hoya's are currently struggling. Plant care is a helluva journey...

I just googled Gottfried as a name, apparently Götz is the abbreviated version. Maybe "Baby Gottfried" or "Gottried II" , can be called Götz? I know you were thinking of having a vertical garden and Covid has probably put a hold on any plans but do you have any ideas on what type of plants you would use in one?
