Eine wunderbare Stimme. Instrumental freut es mich, dass nicht mehr gemacht wurde als auf einer akkustischen Gitarre die Akkorde "durchzuzupfen" und das sehr präziese. Was zu kritisieren wäre, ist rein subjektiv. Das Original von Leonard Cohen wirkt für mich authentischer, weil es eben nicht perfekt gesungen wurde. Die Mischung aus rauher Stimme und "Late Notes" machte das Lied unverwechselbar und ehrlich. Jeff Buckley schaffte es ebenfalls diesen "ehrlichen" Akzent zu setzen. Bei dieser Version klingt es eher wie eine Gesangsaufgabe, bei der jede Note perfekt getroffen werden sollte. Und das wurde gemeistert. Dadurch leidet aber die Message, das Gefühl.

The Cohen version of "Hellelujah" is the most dreary and downbeat you can get. Cohen's lyrics are soooo dismal. The melody is dismal. And yet in this age it's lionised as some sort of anthem.
