Sequel Timeline: Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween 4 (1988), Halloween 5 (1989), Halloween 6 (1995) + this timeline is the most notable one with Laurie & her daughter H20 Timeline: Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween: 20 Years Later (1998), Halloween: Resurrection (2002) + this timeline ignores every movie after Halloween II in 1981 Reboot Timeline: Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007), Halloween II (2009) + this timeline is Rob's take on the horror classic H40 Timeline: Halloween (1978), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), Halloween Ends (2022) + this timeline ignores every movie after the original 1978 Anthology Timeline: Halloween III: Season Of The Witch (1982) + this timeline is their try at making new Halloween stories kinda like American Horror Story, but wasn't received well apart of the franchise. John Carpenter did not direct this movie, he was too busy working on THE FOG and Escape From New York in 1980 and 1981. He hated the idea of a sequel to the original movie as he wanted to end on a cliffhanger and not continue the story, but the producers promised him more money if he made the film. He only wrote the script with Debra Hill, which I heard was rewritten several times during filming, which upset Carpenter and that he would never direct another Halloween movie ever again.

John Carpenter cam on set and directed the girl getting killed after the Elrod knife, and Michael bumping into the Boombox Kid and hearing Laurie’s location. He’d seen a rough cut and decided they needed a kill at the beginning, because he doesn’t kill anyone until Mr. Garrett. Carpenter thought there wasn’t enough scary scenes. Likened the version that we see in the TV Cut to an episode of Quincy.

I love the idea that Michael and Laurie are siblings. I went crazy when I first found that out. I always thought it was an amazing idea that you don't really see in any other horror films. Of course, serial killers in horror films have families just like real ones do but there's not normally stories in movies about them having siblings and actually going after those siblings to kill them. That's a chilling thing to think about.

I think something that's overlooked about what Laurie had to face in this movie is that she's pretty much sedated and underheavy medication for most of the movie. That's crazy when you think about it. It even makes that delayed scream that Laurie does make sense as that adrenaline she had before is fighting back that sedation when help is walking away right in front of her. The fact that Laurie in both films was able to think at all let alone think quickly even with sometimes naturally getting vefore before fiquring something out with little to no preparation is a feat to me. I feel like most final girls will have somewhat of an idea that they're in serious danger, especially for a face off. I feel like Laurie doesn't really get that luxury and that part of what makes having the films set on Halloween. Weird vibes and antics are expected and can easily get brushed off as paranoia or pranks (like the neighbor that didn't help.Laurie at the end of the last movie and another came out in the beginning thinking it was a Halloween prank), whereas other slasher films (especially 70s-90s) tend to happen over at least several days and have some bodies pop up/died/missing/etc. There's only one day here (actually both movies happens over the course of 24hrs or something). Laurie had managed to survive it all without much preparation, a slashed arm, cracked ankle, saving two kids, and went under heay sedation... Also, yes, Jimmy lived. In the tv cut version of this movie, you see one last junp scare of Jimmy sitting up behind Laurie in the ambulance the end of movie with his head wrapped and bandages, showing the last two survivors together...

That's exactly what I noticed which is why whenever someone says, "Why isn't Laurie screaming when they arrive at the hospital!?" Dr. Mixter was heavy-handed with the anesthesia and the fact that he was drunk as a skunk didn't help. So it adds to the terror of the whole situation. It's one thing running from a killer with all of your faculties in place. But when you're constantly going in and out of consciousness while trying to escape a killer is beyond scary..

In the original ending, it is revealed that Jimmy did indeed survive. While Lori is sitting in the ambulance, at the end, someone under a sheeted gurney rises up behind her for one more scare. It turns out that it’s Jimmy being treated for his wounds. Laurie smiles and says “we made it”

29:57 In the theatrical cut, which you watched and is the "official" canon version of the movie, it's left ambiguous whether or not Jimmy survives. But the version of the movie that aired on TV back in the 80s was a different cut, which was fairly common practice at the time. To be broadcast on the major networks movies would have to be censored, so especially for an R-rated slasher like this that meant they needed to cut out a lot of the violence and nudity. To fill back in the runtime they lost from those cuts, they put in a bunch of deleted scenes that had been cut out of the movie during editing. One of those was an extended scene right at the end where Jimmy shows up alive in the ambulance with Laurie. So, at least in that version of the movie, he does survive.

After Michael died they decided to turn Halloween into a yearly event where it's always a new movie/story each year. Like a Twilight Zone for the theaters. BUT when part 3 came out people were expecting Michael and were disappointed. The marketing did a terrible job at explaining it's a new story entirely. Prob cause they knew box office would be bad with out Michael. Part 3 on it's own merits is a nice horror movie. Great story. And 40 years on it's a cult classic of it's own. I recommend watching it. The John Carpenter music of that time is just totally mood setting.

9:24 When Laurie is put into bed there is a power outage in a deleted scene which caused by Myers and the electric locked doors failed so he was able to access the doors after that. I asked the question on a fan page and was given access to the deleted scene explaining how he got in. Also the Hospital being barren like it was is not as far fetched as you think because I was in hospital a LOT as a kid back in the 70's and 80's and there was hardly anyone around even then apart from a couple of staff at night

Hey I will explain the continuity spoiler free: 1) Halloween, Halloween 2, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. 2) Halloween, Halloween 2, Halloween H20, Halloween Resurrection 3) Rob Zombie's Halloween, Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 4) Halloween, Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends similar to how Superman Returns is a sequel to superman and superman 2 but ignores 3 and 4. My favorite continuity is definitely the first one even though it gets convoluted. but Dr Loomis as a staple character is always great.

The cop that hits the kid with his car is Dick warlock. It's also his son he runs into with the radio telling him laurie is at the hospital. I don't know how you thought that was Michael. The kid is carrying a trick or treat bag lolol he keeps walking because he's a human with a supernatural edge. Carpenter said he wrote him to be the actual boogeyman, something you can't kill. You ask how does Loomis know he's a killer as a kid, but that was explained in part 1. With the speech about him having the blackest eyes, the devil's eyes. He was with him like, 6 days a week, for hours a day 15 years straight. Let's just say he got to know him.

While I did enjoy Halloween IV, V and H20 in my teens, as an adult the only Halloween timeline I consider canon is the one you've already seen - where Myers and Loomis perish in an explosion. I hated Rob Zombie's Halloween, thought Halloween VI was the Alien 3 of the franchise, and had a hard time suspending my disbelief for Halloween (2018). I believe this was the first Halloween film I ever saw, so the question of how Michael survives didn't really occur to me - it was established in the opening scene he could survive being shot six times. If I saw the first film first I'm sure it would have occurred to me, since his invincibility isn't set up, it just happens in the original film. By the time I saw the original, I was familiar with that rule of the story world which spared me that question.

First time watch for me with you guys so that is interesting and I thought it was pretty well done in the long run. Yes the one rule in all the movies exept for the newer ones is that Michael Myers can not die and because of that Jamie refused to come back until the movie Halloween H2o but that one is a totally different timeline and if I remember correctly only connects to the first Halloween movie and after that she refused to come back again for a full movie until they made Halloween 2018 which is the first one in the new movies.

The sequels get bloodier later also the timeline is 1,2,4,5,6 other is 1,2, h20 and resurrection which isn't connected to 4-6 and in another timeline then the new one is the 2018 one,kills and ends making another timeline and isn't in the timeline of the 4-6 and h20 timeline or connected then the rob zombies remake 1 and 2 and 3 as a standalone movie.

I'm always laughing at the Ben tramer part watching it with you guys for some reason when that happened and he's burning I imagine the mortal kombat voice saying fatality lol maybe he's possessed like in supernatural that's funny meg on supernatural they did bunch of similar stuff to this they thought she was regular girl and she gets thrown out a building and hit the ground and they do similar shot of them looking down at hernlike Loomis did but she didn't disappear but before the end you saw she's alive with black eyes like Michael eyes she's been shot and at most its irritating but don't kill the demon the poor body gets banged up but I guess the demon must heal it or something cause otherwise it would bleed out or be hurt but she just walks it off like Michael they stop her like they do with Michael later in the series in six but that's in producers cut lol
