They didn’t rewrite the ending to the original. The original ended with Micheal disappearing from below the balcony. Then it showed a few clips of different locations of the film with micheals breathing. It’s perfectly logical and explained in 2018 film what happened after that moment to when he was captured.

They retconned the implication that the original Halloween 2 confirmed which is that he was not caught. I get what you're saying but it's kinda splitting hairs. They did not physically go back in time and rewrite the screenplay to Halloween.

Yes I get it seems to imply Micheal got away, but it’s not specifically said or shown that he did, within the context of the first film. So by her saying “Remember Halloween 2018 rewrote the ending to the 1978 original, instead of Micheal Myers disappearing to, who knows where? Dr. Loomis and the Haddonfield police tracked him down and took him into custody” Is false. Because the ending of the original never stated that he wasn’t caught either. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen people say this, I’ve seen some people go as far as to say that the whole ending scene with loomis shooting Micheal never happened because a line in the film stated “he stopped loomis from killing him that night.” Wording it the way she did is implying they changed the ending. Which they didn’t.

Honestly they should have known to watch him burn to ashes, and then stomped the ashes to make sure. i think a more realistic way is after their actial first fight and after she shot 2 of his fingers off with the shotgun. she went back in the basement/secret passage with karen and then michael broke into the house. as he stood above on the floorbaords above laurie shot off a shotgun bullet trying to nick him from below. so my only realistic guess is he tore at the floorboards and escaped, maybe burning a bit be he got out Leave it to david Gordon to make it all more realistic than something we would expect cause this movie was nothing i expected

If you really think about it, what if it wasn't Michael that was in the house? What if it was actually another insane guy? If you put some pieces together it would make sense for example; Michael would've not have fell into the trap, if anything he would've knew about how to escape it and would've started heading to the escape. I think the fire made the wood brittle and he either rips the gas lines out of the wall creating a hole, or just slams through a section of the wall. Or he knew how she thinks and there is a compartment immune to the fire he hides in, then in the beginning of the next one he opens the door and stands up in the wake of the ashes and vanishes. The second one means he would not have gotten burned at all and in contrast to all the ashes around him he stands up out of it totally unburned. I don't like the idea the mask has a huge gash out of it the entire movie, so i'm more concerned where he is going to get a new mask and how he might get half of his hand back.

Well hes either gonna be superhuman, which he seems too have superhuman abilities even with the Halloween '78 and Halloween 2018 timeline (2,3,4,5,6, H2O and Resurrection) took that ball and ran out their shoes with it. He could break through the weakened scorched flooring (especially with the shotgun hole compromising its entire stable integrity), could literally spread the bars that sealed him in. The 2nd and more interesting theory, Michael Myers is now a physical spirit, creepy imagery can be on full display with this theory.

They probably left it up to us to speculate assuming they dont reveal it in the sequel but I dont think she did it. Would she really unleash him onto the town her whole family is in? I cannot verify this 100%, but if I remember correctly, Laurie Strode fires her shotgun at the floor above the basement (accidentally) at nearly point blank range. I remember taking notice of that because I was sure at that point that Michael would eventually be trapped down there, and a Halloween sequel is inevitable and that'd be used as the explanation for his escape.

What if there’s more than one Micheal pulling the strings. What if there’s at least 2. That would explain how why the one doesn’t target Laurie(because he might not even know who she is). What if the Original swapped places with the other, or actually did die at the end of the 1978 movie. That would also explain how Michael learned how to drive and how someone robbed that supply store and took those Masks and Knives while the other one already had those things. And the other (if he didn’t die) or Third Micheal helped the one who was trapped, escape. BOOM now we have a Cult of Myers.
