RIGHT! Having Donald Pleasance for your Michael Myers’ movie would be nothing but a positive, and it’s mind-blowing to me anyone could have ever seen it any other way... I too was 14, but I was already a legit Halloween film fanatic- and I ADORED Dr. Loomis. I remember my heart dropping when the in memory card popped up at the end
@matthewkoch69373 жыл бұрын
He certainly did! I've never seen any performance with Donald Pleasance that I would consider boring, even his television guest roles. The man knew how to keep you invested, since he could be believably funny one moment, and enraged the next. Joe Chapelle's dumb choices and the sloppy-as-all-hell editing made the theatrical cut laughable trash instead of a good film.

If he truly felt that way about Pleasance, it's clear he would have been better off finding employment elsewhere. I think he surpassed even Cushing's Van Helsing as the greatest hero in the horror arena. I cannot fathom anyone NOT wanting him to be involved in a Halloween movie. I just wish his final film had been something better suited to him.

KingCobra582 That’s probably why so many PG-13 horror films (at least modern, mainstream ones), suck so much. I have to give props on this episode. Funny while analysing why the Producer's cut is far superior: Better editing, answers most questions and actually gives the characters more scenes that show off development/depth, something very well needed in movies as well as horror films. Changing the film for ungrateful 14 year olds was a huge mistake and the movie should have stayed as it was, even if longer. If a movie starts out slow but explains loose ends and becomes a good film if not great one as a result, then that's better than a fast paced version that leaves excruciating plot holes, an abruptly bad ending and justified angry fanbase. Thank you Cinema Snob/Brab; Finding this out has helped me cope with a problem I recently had. Good luck with future episodes and projects.

NEITHER cut are worthy of the Halloween moniker. The Producer's Cut is exalted because it's more rare...nothing more. Implying that Myers is not an autonomous entity is absurd. It's not like 6 is canon to the continuity anymore. H20 and Resurrection went ahead and ignored the stupid cult aspect. As far as I'm concerned, Michael is not some guy listening to some voice in his head telling him to kill people. To me, Michael kills because he wants to and like Loomis said in the original film, he isn't human. That's how he survived getting shot in the first two films, he's not a man. Michael was never intended to have an origin in the first place. To me, Michael's "origin" counts as canon as much as Jason's heart curse or Freddy's dream demons.
@gRinchY-op5vr8 жыл бұрын

Anyone else get a Batman v Superman Ultimate Cut vibe from this? You know, where the original movie wasn't the greatest thing ever but it was still pretty solid and had plenty of good parts to it and yet the studio gets greedy and cuts enough stuff out of the movie to where the editing is horrible and huge plot points and character moments are completely removed for the theatrical cut?
@BabysitterSky8 жыл бұрын
no, both cuts of that were terrible. any movie called batman vs superman that only has 8 minutes of batman vs superman in it clearly misses the point.
@aros00188 жыл бұрын

Happy Halloween man.
@aros00188 жыл бұрын
Kevin Strom Why thank you, and don't worry, I COMPLETELY understand the anger and disappointment at this movie. I think the difference is my rage is directed more at WB than the movie itself, as I have no doubt that the studio was the one who demanded that this movie squeeze so much into itself to try and catch up to Marvel, thus there was less time devoted to Batman and Superman's conflict and more focus on setting up the DCEU. I know for certain they are the ones to blame for the 30 minutes that were cut of the theatrical release, as the Ultimate Edition was the version the movie's directer wanted to release in theaters but WB wanted to maximize the number of screenings that the movie could have per day. I'm not saying the Ultimate Cut is perfect by any means, but if it had been the one released to theaters, it'd still be a bit disappointing but I think a lot less people would be calling it an outright bad movie. So I guess I just blame the studio a lot more than I do the movie or the people who worked on it, especially after reading about the re-writes and re-shoots ordered to be done to Suicide Squad after BvS didn't do as good as they'd wanted. Hopefully Wonder Woman and Justice League don't suffer from as much studio interference.

This film might be one of the best examples I can think of how important editing is, and how good editing and pacing can completely change a film.

So it's a semi-respectable movie, it still kinda goes nowhere since it set up another sequel that would've accomplished what was already accomplished in the other sequels.

Do any films have inferior producer cuts?
@harmonrai22058 жыл бұрын
I don't think theres any other cases of a producers cut, but I think plenty of movies have inferior alternate cuts, like The Exorcist extended cut.

I prefer the original cut of The Shining we had in Europe, before special editions restored the full version. It flowed better. Even the director thought it was the superior version.

The Director's cut of Donnie Darko is very famous for being vastly inferior to the theatrical version. Of course, not a producer's cut technically speaking.

I like that the titular origin of Michael Myers is rooted in actual Druidic mythology and tradition, it's a fun detail

Except that ruins the entire point of the character Michael Myers.
@horrorfanandy4647 Жыл бұрын
@@Gideon13397It does, but they had completely dug themselves into a hole by this point in the series. I think the Producers Cut is a bad movie, but I admire them for sticking to their guns and going all in on the Cult of Thorn nonsense. It makes it a enjoyable mess, even though it completely kills the credibility and scariness of Micheal Myers, basically making him a side-kick to the Man in Black. The Theatrical Cut tries to back out of the game when it’s far too late, and this cowardly execution, combined with the rubbish score, horrendous editing and awful continuity errors, makes for a practically unwatchable experience. All it has going for it is the brutal kills, and the hallway chase in the reshot ending before that awful climax in the weird laboratory. It sucks. The Producers Cut also sucks, but in a fun way.

Uncharacteristic? What's Michaels character?
@DaManEX19838 жыл бұрын
A killer. Not a rapist. And going by previous installments he is sexually repressed (he sees Annie changing clothes in the original and knocks over the plant). Getting that close to Jamie the Shape would've just killed her even if he was under some influence
@glennwelsh97847 жыл бұрын
How did they even...arouse Michael to be able to impregnate anyone? Did they inject him with liquid Viagra or Cialis and show him snuff films and Halloween TV specials to get him hard? And how would he go about having sex with anyone without killing them? Or did someone have to jerk Michael off to artificially inseminate Jamie? Who pulled the unlucky straw for that task, both figuratively and literally?

Two things to note about this film: 1. One draft of the screenplay said that Dr. Wynn was the one who wanted Jamie's baby. His monologue in the Producer's Cut even hints at it. And 2. If you go frame by frame of the strobing, flash edit, you'll notice two particular shots: First is, unsurprisingly, Michael holding a knife, but the second shot shows Jamie in a hospital. Supposedly, that's from a deleted scene that didn't make EITHER cut of the film.

The real twist in the ending isn’t that Michael Myers switched costumes with Dr. Wynn. It’s that he’s still wearing the same pair of shoes as before yet somehow managed to switch Dr. Wynn’s cowboy boots with a different pair of boots! Maybe a sequel will tell us how he managed to do this.

@hoodedman65798 жыл бұрын
It's also known as "The Pig Fucking Movie"; if I remember correctly, a man fucks a sow and it gives birth to about half a dozen piglets (normal piglets, not at all human). He then gets mad that they like the mother more and hangs them. There's more to it than that, but I don't remember any of it. Note that, while the sex is supposedly simulated, they really did hang the piglets, which was much worse than fucking the pig.

+Orion Burns +Aaron Usher Ick. And as if autists weren't dumped on enough in the net, the character in the film had to be made one as justification/an excuse. Sounds like a bunch of wonderful people; the folks who made this film.
