I really recommend Dracula by Bram Stoker. I know a lot of people can be turned off by the language in classics but this book is amazing. No movie has ever told the story right. It's also super interesting because it's told from journal entries, newspaper clippings, and letters between the different characters. It's got excellent tension build up and an amazing story.

@karkatvantas95577 жыл бұрын
1. Wonders of the Invisible World by Christopher Barzak. Dark, unsettling vibe. Mysterious monsters and spirits and evil trees calling your name in the night. If that's not Halloween, I don't know what is. 2. Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. Landy really brought his background as a horror writer into this series. The only book in The Faceless Ones trilogy that fits is Playing With Fire, the second book, but after that both the Necromancer trilogy and the Darquesse trilogy just ooze horror. The creepiest has got to be the fifth book, Mortal Coil, which is Derek's version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but Last Stand of Dead Men, book eight, gets a special mention for one or two scenes. And the first book of the new series is carrying along the horror tradition. Especially when you work out who Lethe really is. Just so dark. 3. The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare. I would never say any of her other books are Halloween reads, but TDA just has such a dark (ironic, right?) and creepy vibe to it which makes it such a great series for Halloween. 4. The Curseworkers by Holly Black (the first book is White Cat). What could be more Halloweeny than a crime thriller murder mystery with a main character who might have murdered his best friend when he was a kid. 5. The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black. Dark and mysterious vibe, monstrous faerie creatures, really depressing backstory. It's great. 6. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. Just the setting of this series is so weird and mysterious and Halloween, and there are some genuinely terrifying moments. 7. The Archived by Victoria Schwab. Dark and mysterious vibe. 8. Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab. Not really the second book, but the first and third books are pretty horror-y. The third book especially. 9. Half Bad by Sally Green. The first book is just brutal, the second, not so much, the third is quite horrifying, though not as much as the first. 10. The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic. Not what immediately comes to mind for a Halloween book, but this is _DARK_ . Club scene. That's all I'm gonna say.

Ohh The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud!! Is the first in a middle grade series about a paranormal agency (consisting of three agents, the characters are awesome) that deals with ghosts (in the story the world suddenly has a ghost Problem and paranormal agencies are a thing). The book is creepy and it has a interesting mystery going on. Also the last book is out this month, so no waiting. Greetings from México Jesse!!

Jesse, I just read the best Halloween book, it also happens to be my new favorite read period. It's called The Ghost of Buxton Manor by Jonathan L. Ferrara. "For nearly a century, the ghost of 17 year-old Rupert Buxton has been trapped in his childhood home. He spends his days reading, roaming, and trying desperately to recall his former life. Hope is restored when a boy his own age moves into the manor-a boy he quickly becomes fascinated by. This peculiar, modern boy is the first person that Rupert has been able to reveal himself to, and just might be the key to help him discover his mysterious past.The Ghost of Buxton Manor is a young adult, LGBT paranormal fiction centered around historical figures Rupert Buxton and Michael Davies-the inspiration behind the real Peter Pan."
