I ended up putting up the Halloween recommendations before my Fall recommendations video since so many of you were asking for it, so the Fall recommendations will be out next week or the week after!

I am lucky books don't scare me easily. I recommend Goosebumps and the Rot & Ruin series to anybody in this season. In less they don't like zombies or middle grade horror.
@vilvin28933 жыл бұрын
I'm an easily scared person, but at the same time sometimes want to read something mysterious and spooky. Having recommendations from the person with the same taste is absolutely amazing! Thank you for the video!

Ok real talk, Coraline is TERRIFYING! Whoever decided to classify the movie as ‘childrens’ is crazy XD
@yup23153 жыл бұрын
I'm so desensitized to it at this point, because it was my childhood best friend's movie. So I just really enjoyed the art of the graphic novel 😂
@oliviabrakel61293 жыл бұрын
It is a YA horror book, but fun fact it wasn’t meant to be really.

I just read the first two books of the Diviners series and yes, they have the perfect Halloween atmosphere!! And I am about to start Truly Devious and I just hope I love it because I got the whole box set... (the first book wasn't available in my country when I ordered it)
@merle-k3 жыл бұрын
okay quick update: read the first 100 pages of truly devious and I am hooked. I can barely put it down.
@celie103 жыл бұрын
Yessss. I read Babysitters Coven and the second one, For Better or Cursed. I still have to read the third one that just came out. I enjoyed These Witches Don’t Burn as well. Picking up the sequel today. And you should totally continue the Truly Devious series! I read them all and flew through them. I love Stevie and trying to solve the mysteries along with her.
@sumayyahislam38383 жыл бұрын
omg the unbecoming of Mara dyer series is one of my favourites i read the entire thing in 3 days. You should read the spin-off which is from Noah's pov as u find some crazyyyy things about Mara which will change your view completely.

My Halloween tradition is to listen to a diviners book (the audiobooks are fenominal) and this is my fourth year with the final book. These books are the perfect amound of scary, but I cannot listen to them rigth before bed though. I am really excited to see where it ends, but also kinda sad that the Halloween tradition will end.. but first I need to finish another spooky read: these witches don't burn

I'm reading a True Crime book about a the main character Dee who's friend Sibby went missing Ten years ago and she is the only witness of that night of her abduction. She has her own a true crime podcast of her own called Radio Silence and does missing person reports with the help of online sleuths to solve them (also called the Seeker behind the scenes) and no one knows its her. The main thing about the story is that a little girl ends up going missing and ends up being linked to the disappearance of Sibby and she has to try to solve it with the help of her virtual detective friends and the new girl at school by Tom Ryan called I Hope You're Still Listening.

Love all of your recs for Halloween! Some I've read and some I just added to my Goodreads "want to read" (ever-growing) list. I'm currently listening to the audio book version of "The Year of the Witching" by Alexis Henderson and so far it is scaring the heck out of me and I'm loving it! Although I am sorta wishing I had saved this one closer to Halloween week. Love this vid!

Don’t feel bad.... you and I are almost exactly like when it comes to Halloween and being spooked.... I am not a fan of Halloween except for the candy aspect. I don’t like being scared at all ! I do like autumn vibes though, and the only book I basically read around this time of year is Pumpkinheads.
@Lanaxparillaxwife3 жыл бұрын
I love the diviners series & you’re making me want to reread again 😩. I liked the undead girl gang but it’s been a while since I read it tho. I love Sadie I recommend people listen to the audiobook instead of reading it physically. I love truly devious series

Not exactly Halloween, but I think the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy is a good read for fall for anyone who wants to try something new The Demon Road trilogy, by the same author, might be more on the line of scares and horror, so be careful

Have you read 'Alice' by Christina Henry? It's a dark version of Alice in Wonderland. I didn't find it particularly scary but it is very dark with some of the stuff that goes on. Very creepy vibes. But also very interesting to see these different versions of well known characters. It can also get quite graphic and gory in places sometimes.
@melindarichardson98873 жыл бұрын
I just finished The Lantern's Ember by Colleen Houck (author of The Tigers Curse series). I couldn't recommend this book enough! It had so many fun Halloween/Fall elements. Everyone should check it out!

I loved a House of Salt and Sorrow! I had to put that book down for a hot minute because I was a bit freaked out xD I also liked the Truly, Devious series, and I am about to read the spinoff book "The box in the woods"! I would also recommend "The Year of the Witching". It's not necessarily scary, but it's a really creepy story.

To add in this list, I recommend See Me by Nicholas Sparks. 📝 It is more of a suspense/thriller book. 📖

This Halloween, I'm planning on reading Down comes the night, it seems like it has a creepy atmosphere but not too much 😅 (easily scared too) Also, I would recommend The Spook's series by Joseph Delaney. There is dark magic and Halloween vibes all along, but I was able to read them at night (not the first two, but the other ones)

Do you guys actually celebrate Halloween in Canada with Thanksgiving being in October? I ❤ your sweater!!!!!!!! My oldest son absolutely loves The Graveyard Book and asked that I read it so it's on my list. I love the Miss Peregrines series. I still need to read the last book. I might read There's Someone Inside Your House but I might literally think there is someone inside my house. I am a chicken too. I read a book called Home Before Dark by Riley Sager and that creeped the hell out of me so I am careful what I read esp at night or right before bed.
@melanieheath98293 жыл бұрын
Yes we do celebrate Halloween in October. The 31st. Or, at least, those who celebrate it do 😁
@birdbrain35943 жыл бұрын
Yes, we do celebrate Halloween even though it's a bit close to our Thanksgiving. What's weirder to me, as a Canadian, is how Americans celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas so close together. You need to spread out the turkey meals more lol. Halloween and Thanksgiving are very different holidays.
@SailorJaszie3 жыл бұрын
@@birdbrain3594 Our Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are all in different months but all about approximately 3 weeks apart. I love that they all have their owns months so I can decorate each month.

I saw the trailer for There's Someone Inside Your House as it played automatically on Netflix and didn't realise for a while that it was based on the book, because the trailer and age rating (18 in the Uk) gives off very slasher/graphic vibes and not very ya or teen at all? So that confused me lol. Tbh I haven't read that book but I would assume that it's horror for teens, and the movie has definitely aged it up.
