@Cthulhu make you Insane! I Prefer 2018 over H20. H20 felt too much like Scream. That can be blamed on Miramax and the Weinsteins. Michael is not Scary in H20. You see his eyes all the time and they never explain where Michael has been for 20 years. in 2018 it also made sense cause they say he was caught and locked up for 40 years. Even Though H20 is my third favorite there are some flaws in the movie
@logicalparadox28972 ай бұрын
Exactly the reason I didn’t love it. I dislike that vibe and fell out of love with the genre for that reason around that time. But this is better than Scream, at least (for me). And compared to contemporaries like Urban Legend, H20 is probably under rated.

It has the same writer as Scream, it uses the same score as Scream, the characters dialogue sounds like it belongs in Scream, they tried to add more comedy in a similar fashion to Scream, and the two teenage girls watch Scream in their room, probably in contrast to the time the characters in Scream watched the original Halloween. Thank you, Cody dead on review. Since I am old and remember the first Halloween when it was in the theater and it was the first movie I rented when we bought our first VCR, which was a BetaMax! But I have faithfully not only loved the movies I bought the movie tie in books and read them too, devoured them! I loved H20, and for me it was because of the end of the Franchise, I love so much! Like you, I think of H20 as the end of the first timeline and when I watched Resurrection, I wasn’t pissed that Busta Rhymes said, “Trick or Treat, Mutherfu***r!” Because it wasn’t Michael Myers to me. Doesn’t mean I didn’t hate Resurrection, I did and do, but I don’t get angry like some other old timers. H20 had Nurse Marion, which tied in the original two films, and I know I am the only one, but I liked Joseph Gordon Levitt. I thought it was awesome with the Hockey Mask and the finger that Michael gave the other franchise with the skate in the face. I really enjoyed seeing Laurie and the cracks around the facade that only grow as the movie goes on! I found it to be a satisfying ending and I also have to agree with your negatives, the multiple masks was distracting and constantly taking me out of enjoying the movie. And I’m sorry the Adam Arkin boyfriend character was just wrong, and creepy In every seen with Jamie Lee. Thanks for the awesome reviews! I have been keeping up with yours and “Dr. Leemis’” Vlogs to get me to this Friday, when my friends and I all old, folks are crowding into the theater!! I LOVE Halloween H20. It’s my personal favorite of the sequels that came after Halloween II. I love Laurie having an alcohol problem, I love her relationship with her son and how strained it is, I love Laurie confronting Michael at the end with no fear, there’s SO much to love here. More than anything, it does this thing that I love in any story and that’s a time jump. I love stories that pick up decades after the first part. To me it’s the real Halloween 3 and the definitive end to the story regardless of what nonsense came afterwards. My biggest disappointment is that the new Halloween coming out not just ignores part 2, but H20 as well. To me both those sequels deserve recognition and the best the series has to offer and it’s a damn shame they’ve been left out.

So many suspenseful scenes from the cafeteria scene and the rest stop scene which could have been a kill to fill in the lack of killing through the film as u mentioned. I love this movie! I'm one of the people who considers the ending "canon", insomuch as I care about canon LOL. I love scary movies, right? But I'm a total scaredy cat, and I saw the original Halloween when I was maybe 7 and it scared me like crazy. When I saw this movie a few years later I stopped being afraid that every time I took out the trash at night, Michael was going to get me. I would just remind myself that she totally cut his head off and I was safe. It's also part of what made Resurrection less scary for me when it came out (again, total scaredy cat. A movie need not be /good/ to scare me). I was actually able to detach the way normal people who watch movies do and watch it while knowing none of it matters because H20 is the real deal. Only thing I kinda disagree with is the bit about the security guard's scenes. Yeah, they may not be necessary, but they work for me. I love how it starts out that his gf/wife thinks it's so stupid that he wants to write these things. And then as we continue to look in, she's started getting really into what he's written. IDK, just a little peek into his life that I enjoyed cutting some of the tension.

How hard is it to do a simple blank rubber face mask? Seriously... The pacing issue that really struck me last time I watched this was that after Laurie locks the gate behind her, her son just vanishes from the film. We never see him again, and it just feels weird. Even after 20 years, Jamie Lee Curtis said that seeing Michael Myers on set still scared her. LL Cool J's line, "Comb your hair!" was ad-libbed, inspired by Josh Hartnett's messy haircut. Jamie Lee Curtis considers the film a thank you note to her fans. Curtis: "Without that early career, I truly don't think I would have been an actor." The shortest "Halloween" movie in the series, with a run time of 86 minutes. Chris Durand - who plays Michael Myers - was born in 1963, the same year his character killed his older sister Judith. Michael's knife is a 14" Wusthof. First film in the series to be released in the summer. Every film since including Rob Zombie's followed this trend, with exception to Halloween (2018) which came out around Halloween. No official soundtrack was ever released for the film, but a compilation album by John Ottman was released in the United States and Germany under the Varese Sarabande label and includes the original score by Ottman and numerous other cuts.

I’m a purist but the original was just so perfect on its own and needs no sequel anyway..so with that aside this movie is entertaining but not eerie and alluring.

This is my favourite Halloween movie. It isn’t the best Halloween movie but it’s definitely my favourite.

Love the film. The only problems I have with the film is the mask changes and the Scream-like music.

H20 is overrated not as good as people make it out to be. I prefer Return of Michael Myers and 2018 over H20.

@@josefengelhardt2767 My 2 cents. I don't think it's overrated at all!
@josefengelhardt2767 Жыл бұрын
@@kennypham3856 that's fine if you like it but i just didn't care for H20 all that Much and here are reasons why i think it's overrated. 1. Michael's Mask. When i see Chris Durand's Michael Myers i don't see Michael Myers i see someone dressed up like Michael Myers. The mask looks really stupid and you see his eyes all the time throughout the film. His mask in Return of Michael Myers wasn't good but at least you didn't see his eyes. 2. They never explain where Michael has been for 20 years. In Return of Michael Myers it made sense cause they say he has been in a coma for 10 years and in 2018 it made sense cause they say he was caught and locked up for 40 years. 3. The Music is not very good because in some scenes the use music tracks from Scream 4. The Final Fight feels kinda goofy anf unintentionally hilarious such as when Laurie hits Michael on the head with a Fire Extinguisher. There are some things i did like in H20 Like the scenes in the School, The scene with Jamie Lee Curtis and Janet Leigh (The car in that scene was a nice little reference to Psycho) and of course the ending where Laurie Beheads Michael. Sadly it was ruined by Resurrection. If you enjoyed H20 fine good for you but for me it's just not that good. I prefer Return of Michael Myers and 2018 over H20

H20 is one of my top favorite Halloween movies, and to me, is the definitive ending for the brother/sister storyline. Great job on this review man, loved it.

Are you glad they deviated away from the thorn trilogy or would you have rather had them mention it and Jamie? I heard there was a deleted scene where she is mentioned in front of Laurie and she kind of has a breakdown and is distraught over abandoning her. I don't think it was ever filmed but I believe it was on the drawing board at one point.

I loved watching this movie when I was younger but yeah I never noticed the CGI mask until I was older. I still don't know how I feel about the eyes but I see what you mean. Curtis is amazing for returning to this franchise. Their fight is awesome you can tell she's petrified but she's determined compared to Laurie's last outing. I like that we got to spend time with the characters and even Nurse Chambers at the start their scenes were entertaining and you got a feel for those characters too. Halloween at its strongest, I give a crap what happens to the characters. I never could when it came to Friday 13th characters. I prefer suspense over high body counts of people I don't care about. Nice review!

Also....as far as the setting not being creepy. ...ehhh thr flashbacks in town, and when the sun went down with Michael stalking LL at the security shack was perfect like in 78....behind the bushes and the the laundry room.....that's suspense....and ...ultimate.....Laurie waling up the driveway axe in hand just her and him left ......and that iconic voice yell Michael....makes my hair stand on end

really like this movie and think its under appreciated. For my "canon" you have Halloween, Halloween II, and H2O. I like Halloween 4 a lot but think the three above make the best complete story for Michael and of course Laurie.

To be fair, this film did feel like an R-rated episode of almost any WB show from the late 90s like Dawson's Creek and Beverly Hills 90210 but with some elements of Scream mixed in.

The intro to H2O shows a pair of scissors with blood on them. The only time scissors are used is when Jamie stabs her mom, and Rachel is killed by Michael.

Just rewatched H20, bc of this review,- great job btw. You do good work man. H20 is both a solid movie, and holds so much Potential to be great. The idea was right, execution was great at parts, but mediocre at other parts. Story was simple, which it should be. 2018 and KILLS has sub plots that take the audience away from Michael- making it almost cringe worthy. Anyway for H20, The beginning was beautiful and actually has a sense of suspense and fear. With the right mask(more like the new ones), burn scars, and an actor that got down the right movements, brutal kills, more kills, could have made Michael that much more menacing. Laurie was great here, just wish they did a little more exposition on her depression, and even with Michael of maybe where he has been or how he get another mask. Agree with you on the setting, nice breath of fresh air. Makes sense she wouldn’t be in haddonfield. Overall solid movie for what it was- might actually do a video on this

One big thing that kills this movie is all the cheap jump scares. They are soooo annoying.
